Bits of Joy

What joy to receive an unexpected package
from my forever tea friend Penny in the mail on Friday
after a most particularly stressful week.

Well you know I like me my Davids Tea!
The Spring Collection ~ a breath of fresh air ~ that's what it is indeed!
"Berry Poppins"
"ElderFlower Spritz"
"Melon Drop"
"Strawberry Fields"
"White Nectarine"
They all smell heavenly!

And then there is the "Cat Butt Coaster"
that I received from another sweet friend/coworker
last week for my birthday!
Thank you Kathy!
A tea coaster from Etsy that she ordered to match
the colors of Banjo.
Now how enjoyable is that?

Mmmmm....lovely tea
on a cute cat coaster...

Now that is truly enjoyable to me...

And when you want to tell the world to 'kiss it'?

just flip it.
Hence the name "Cat Butt Coaster".

Thank you girls for bringing me
little bits of joy last week!!

Makes Me Smile Monday

'Cause you have to find something to smile about
on the Monday after 2 weeks holidays...

I will miss my favorite afternoon commercial...

"An eye for an eye, that's what dad always says."

"I've never said that honey."

Yup...that's what I'm going with today.

Happy Monday!

Damn Monkeys

I hate it when the damn monkeys
won't stay at the circus where they belong...

Mixed Emotions

A trip to Calgary always means a visit to the Calgary Zoo.
If you love animals, it's always with mixed emotions
that you enter a zoo to gaze at the animals that live there.

You can be sad when you look at these photos
because this magnificent creature is confined
to live behind bars in a zoo instead of running free.

Or you can feel comfort in the fact that if this beautiful
Amur Tiger (Siberian Tiger – Panthera tigris altaica)
had been born in the wild instead of in a zoo,
that he could very well be dead
due to poaching in his native homeland.

Hopefully one day Amur Tigers
can be taken off the endangered species list.

that's who...

I cannot believe that in a few days I will be 50 years old.
How the hell did that happen?
I know getting older beats the alternative.
I know that too many are 'denied' the 'privilege' of getting older.
But still...

I hated turning 'middle-aged'.
But now, I am on the other side of middle-aged unless I live to be 100+.
So being middle-aged doesn't seem so bad to me now.

I am trying hard to remember....what?...ummm...oh yea...
that 'Fifty is the new Forty'.

Though technically, I'm much better at 50 than I was at 40.

Things I can do at 50 that I couldn't do at 40:

  • Jog 5 km (average 4 days/week)
  • Walk 10,000 steps (or more) a day
  • Care less what people think of me
  • Speak my mind more
  • Give myself more 'me' time

And how am I spending my birthday week?
  • 2 weeks off work
  • Reflexology & Reiki appointments
  • Lunch dates with friends
  • Shopping trip to Calgary
  • Trip to the Calgary Zoo
  • Booking of hotel/flights to Victoria for our summer trip
  • Packing away my winter clothes
  • Getting behind my camera
  • Getting into my craft room
  • And there will be movies and snoozes as well...  :)

So I guess here comes 50 - ready or not...
