13 years ago today...

a little kitten came to live with us...

he grew...

and grew...

and grew some more...

until he got toooo big for the chair...

and toooo big for the couch...

and so the mom put him on a diet...

and before you knew it...

he was a healthy, svelte...

and playful cat...

and even more handsome than before...

thus proving...

that some people kitties...

truly get better with age...

Kisses on the nose for you today Banjo!!

A Bit of Happy

It was a long busy week.

Things that made me happy this week:

the warm sun reflecting off the water...

fragrant blossoms bursting with color...

fuzzy balls of sweetness...

ducks who don't fly away when taking their photo...

a Wilson's Phalarope having lunch...

an American Avocet giving me the 'stink eye'...

birds in flight over marshy wet grasses...

inquisitive baby cows...

volunteering to answer phones for the
First Annual SPCA "Give Me Shelter" Radiothon
(almost $22,000 was raised in 12 hours!!!)

a husband that gets out of bed at 5:30 am
to fill your vehicle with gas
as the only gas station that is open that early
is a "self-serve" station
and you were too tired to fill it the night before
and you are needing to leave for work
for a 620 km road trip...

sometimes it's those 'little things' that keep you going...

It's beautiful sunny warm here
I'm off to go buy dirt and flowers for my pots
and look forward to catching up with
blog reading this afternoon!

Happy Weekend!

Time Well Spent

This month is going by in a blur.
Half gone meaning June is not far away
and we will then be working on half the year past.

Why is it going so fast?

I think this morning will be a
sit outside
drink my tea
watch the birds and bugs
kind of morning.

Yes, there are many many other things
that I should be doing this morning
but that is what I believe will start my day off right.
Time well spent I believe.

And those are my thoughts for today...

Well I hate to speak ill of the dead but I think ol' Ben Franklin had his priorities wrong:

"Time is money." ~ Benjamin Franklin

Time is priceless is it not?  'Cause all the money in the world can't buy time.   And time isn't worth a damn thing if we've used it unwisely.

We all know it.  But why oh why do we always need a 'wake up call' to remind us of that?  A friend loses his beloved spouse.  Unsettling medical test results. A missed conversation because you were too busy to listen.

"Time is what we want most but what we use worst." ~ William Penn

I'm taking time this weekend to:
  • Look into the eyes of my husband and tell him I love him
  • Appreciate my ability to take a walk in the sunshine and warmth
  • Enjoy a Mother's Day Sunday spent with family

Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend and a very Happy Mother's Day
- be it a mother to human babies or fur babies.  It's a beautiful thing to be needed, appreciated, and loved.
