Trying To Keep Warm

Bunny in my yard this morning.

The windchill is -53c (-64F) this morning.
It is not fit for human or beast out there today.

Needless to say bunny photos
were taken from the
warmth and safety of inside my house.

Sending warm thoughts to all the
furry, fuzzy and feathered friends
living outside today.  :(

I was just sitting here thinking how grateful I was for our furnace. My heart breaks for the animals outside in this weather. Stay warm and cozy today, my friend!

He's adorable! Exactly Catherine. You are smart to stay in. I have some friends in Maine who are planning to spend the day snowshoeing. They're out of their minds! It's notvas cold there. Minus 19, i think. But cold. It's 25F this am here in Oregon, and i think that's cold. I know. You're thinking.. what a wimp, right? Lol. Stay warm! xx

i can't believe that poor bunny can survive in that cold... i know humans would not last long out there.

Marvelous photos...we are quite warm today - mid-30's - I have the windows open - we have only one cold day predicted for this week - a 20 degree high - then normal winter temps which are really quite pleasant (high 30's-high 40's).

We're much the same. Fun photos of your little bunny.

Ugh. I'm worrying about our parking lot cats at work all night long. I can't help them other than to bring them food and warm water when I get there in the morning. I am hoping the snow will help to insulate their lair under the thick hedges. :(

My kitties don't realize how lucky they are. I do. We are so fortunate to be warm and dry...and to have so much food.

AIIIEEEEEEE!!!!! And I was complaining about -37C last week.

I guess it's a matter of perspective.

My heart goes out to all the animals (and people) without homes, may they find a warm spot and stay safe. Purrs from the boys.

It is so cold but nice and sunny if you stay put inside. It's nice to see the little bunny out there.

They are beautiful photos! I sure hope creatures living outside find warm places. We are expecting cold weather, too. Many cups of tea will be made, for sure! Stay safe and warm, and have a great new week xoxo

Oh my gosh....I nearly fell off the floor after I saw the wind chill factor!!! Holy cow.

But...such a sweet sweet bunny. Hope it has a warm place to snuggle up in the dark, cold night!!!

And you too....stay warm!! [wondering if this is all part of the massive cold front that is predicted to even hit down here in the Gulf Coast in a day or two?]

Pam said...

Oh my goodness! I don't know how the bunnies do it!

HOOTIN ANNI said...

....fell ON the floor. Geez. Sorry 'bout that, it was like shock, even to type this chill factor. ;o)

I just cannot imagine that amount of cold. How does anything survive?

Eileen said...

Poor thing! Our bunny was hunkered down by the fence this morning - he is almost white unlike this guy. I'm with you, it's not fit for man nor beast out there.

Hope he finds a cozy place to spend his day and night as it doesn't seem this cold is going to leave any time soon.

Stay warm!

Oh my goodness, poor little fella.
It's warmed up here, but not for long.
Still, we are experiencing nothing like you are.
Stay safe.

Poor bunny!

We're getting hit with those extreme windchills too. You are right about not being safe for anyone to be outside. BRRRR!

Aw, the bunny is adorable. I hope he has a warm nest some where.

Your weather is what I was used to in Alaska. Here it's just above freezing today but we had near zero a few weeks ago. I'm enjoying the warmth in this part of the country. LOL!

OMG .. Its cold there. I thought we were cold north of Edmonton.. wow.
and
Love the photos. Stay warm.
Happy New Year.

-53c! How do you live? Would it help if I said it is 1pm as I write this and too hot to go outside and do a bit of weeding?
The bunny appears to have a nice thick coat, hope he has boots to match.

That is some extreme cold...yikes! Your captures of the bunny are adorable! I hope all the poor creatures find some shelter from that wind! Keep warm!

And, yes, it's apple crisp, made from apples we got from the orchard up the road.

Dearest Catherine,
Let's hope indeed that animals and birds in the wild have found a cozy spot for hiding from that arctic wind! We had -10°C by 2:00 AM on the 3rd... I will get very cold tomorrow night and also the windchill factor makes it mean.
Well, we still have a couple of days to go before we can warm up outside. Your bunny photos are adorable!
Hugs,
Mariette

Holy-Moly that's cold. How is that bunny surviving. I would have been taking the photos from inside as well.

I'm thinking we are of the same mind right now. Blah, blah, blah...brrr, brrr, brrr. Poor little bunny. I saw 5 very healthy dogs walk by the house this afternoon and shivered watching them from my front window. Too cold to even walk for a tea these days.

Such a cute rabbit. Lovely, lovely pictures.

Oh my gosh- that's CRAZY weather! It's 13 here this morning and my husband's weather station alarm went off all night long with low wind chill temp records.

That rabbit doesn't look too worried about the cold, but all the outdoor creatures must be freezing in that kind of extreme weather!

Sylvia said...

Oh, what a cutie, Catherine !
And what a lot of snow and so cold ... oh my !
We have 14°C here today, my geranium outside has started to bloom ...
Hugs,
Sylvia

I would have hubby build me a outside building for all the critters to warm up in. :)
It really is cold there! It hit 80 here yesterday!!!

Poor little bunny. This cold weather makes me truly grateful for the comforts that I have.

Beautiful photos. In warm inside home is best.
Greetings.

What a brave little bunny but at least he's found as spot out of the wind.
I often think of the caribou and buffalo that roam the plains standing head strong into that frigid wind and surviving.
We have much to be grateful for.
I do hope you're not out on the road today for work.
Stay warm!

Great shots of the bunny! Poor little guy…he needs a blanket. Dang, that's cold! I wouldn't even move from the fireplace, heater, or whatever until it warmed up to 65F. hee hee

This is absolutely amazing! Great shots! Stay warm and safe and dry! Aloha

Me again. Now you are on the news here. "Canada plunges into deep freeze" and " Colder than the surface of Mars" Stay in the house and cuddle Banjo. Sending you lots of warm wishes. XX

When I look at the bunny, I'm pretty sure you aren't only one looking forward to warmer weather. Poor little thing.

Laurie said...

I thought it was cold here, Catherine! We're hoping for a high of 0. I feel bad for all the poor animals that have to be out in this!

Wooooo--that is unbelievable. I could never get used to that weather... Do you have to get out and work during this kind of weather? Yipes...

We have had an arctic blast here (MINUS 10 degrees F this morning on our deck) --and that is very very rare for us... It's been a crazy winter here so far.

Stay WARM.
Hugs,
Betsy

Bunny is so cute. When I was 16 years old (with my first job)I bought a waist-length rabbit fur jacket. First and last time I owned any animal clothing except leather - coat, shoes, bag, etc. Now I buy faux stuff.
Yesterday n White Plains, NY the temp was 5 degrees. Factor in windchill, it felt like 30 below. They say the flux in temps (55 degress on Monday) is not due to global warming. Yeah, right! Stay warm. Cheers

Hoping it has warmed up for you and the bunny!

The bunny photos are fantastic! Isn't it amazing that furry and feathered friends are able to adapt to such drastic weather changes. I'm not a cold weather gal at all. My son loves Colorado but he does not like the constant cold (temperatures where he's at are below freezing most of the year).
Warm wishes, Tammy
