Now The Dust Bunnies Are Taunting Me!

Don't you hate it when you are sure you have
lots of photos of your house for 'before'
and so you don't take any and then you realize
you totally don't have many 'before' photos?

Or at least not ones that aren't highlighting your cat??

Oh well...
These should give you an idea of the 'before'.

So...

Master Bedroom - before (top)
after (bottom)

Computer Room - before (top left)
after (bottom left)

Spare Bedroom - no before
(picture the same light flooring from the computer room and taupe walls)
and then after (top and bottom right)

Stairs and landing - before (top left)
after (top right - notice the painted railings...ugg!  what a job!)

And then the hallway and living room - no before (honestly...tsk...)
but really, it's about the carpet being gone
and the taupe walls replaced by 'abalone'
with the two accent walls 'star dust'

So while there is still the little
odds and ends to do
(baseboards, trim, computer room closet)
we are pretty much complete.

I am very pleased with how it turned out.

Now if you will excuse me,
I have to go Swiffer my floors.

Those dust bunnies are no longer hiding in my carpet
but rather taunting me from every corner of my house...

Pets Are Expensive. Period.

Last Monday I took Banjo to the vet.
His vomiting, one of the main reasons for the renovations
was getting the best of me.

We found out he had lost another 2 lbs since last year
even though he was eating more.
He now weighs 14 1/2 lbs.
And you have to remember
he used to weigh 30 lbs!

Many tests (and many $$$'s) later...
we got the results back last Thursday.

Banjo has Hyperthyroidism.
He had to start on a daily regiment of Felimazole.

UGGG!
The thought of giving Banjo pills every day
for the rest of his life was disheartening
as he was NOT a good medicine taker.

BUT - thanks to Greenies Pill Pockets,
Banjo eagerly anticipates his twice daily does of Felimazole.

THANK YOU GREENIES for a most wonderful invention!!!!

When you have unconditional love for someone,
you don't ask 'How much is that going to cost me?"
You say "Do whatever you need to do to make him better."

Pets are expensive.  Period.
But the love and enjoyment they give you is priceless.

“Until one has loved an animal,
a part of one's soul remains unawakened.”
~ Anatole France

Anyone else out there have a kitty with hyperthyroidism?

P.S. Renovations are almost complete - photos soon.  :)

A Small Price To Pay

I retired my old bird bath this year.
Although the birds didn't mind the bowl I put on top of
kitty's head to hold in the water
I thought is was looking a bit tacky....

A new bird bath was in order.
Nothing but the best for my birds.  :)

Everybody seems to be enjoying it.
The doves.

The robins.

The sparrows.

The grackles.
Although I don't enjoy the grackles as much
as they seem to enjoy my yard.
They are loud and obnoxious,
albeit very pretty.

And everyone seems to be sharing nicely.

The birds give me great pleasure.
Watching and listening to them.

All different shapes and colors.

The differences in how they choose to eat their food.

Families of them living in my back yard.

Letting me get close to them
and them stopping to pose for me.

But none have been as enjoyable as
the little nuthatch who is eating out of my hand every night.

He knows that he gets his choice of the best seeds
undisturbed by any of the other birds
since he is the only one brave enough to eat out of my hand.

He keeping an eye on me.
Me keeping an eye (and camera lens) on him.

A new bird bath is a small price to pay
for this kind of enjoyment.

Wishing you a Happy Friday full of
whatever brings you joy!

That's Some Good Nip!

Banjo was the lucky recipient of a surprise gift box from
all the Kitties and Janet over at The Cat On My Head!

Clearly I was not opening the box fast enough for him
so he decided to help me.

Inside was a lovely bag of treats
and 3 adorable bags full of home grown cat-nip!

Banjo immediately snatched on to
one of the nip bags.

He took a break for one moment
to sniff at the cute kitty card and kitty sticker...

and was right back to
lovin' that cat nip bag up!

 I'm not sure...
but I think he likes it.  :)

Thank you so much Janet and kitties ~ you are the sweetest!!

Thank Goodness Someone is Looking After My Garden

August 16th...how can that be?

Summer is speeding to a close
and it's only been in the last few days that we have
really experienced the heat of summer.  Finally!

My garden has been very neglected this year.
Evidence lays scattered about of the only one
that has shown any interest in tending to my flowers...

My personal gardener...
Mr. Bun E. Rabbit

Thank goodness someone is looking after my garden... :)

Happy Friday!

Same Road Different Views

You can travel the same road each day
but see different sites each time.

1 1/2 hours of driving in this
 by myself yesterday...
yes...
there's a road there somewhere

is to beautify further the existing beauties!”

Yes
fog is very beautiful...

unless you're driving in it...

No Help At All

I would like to leave the garden door window open
while we are painting and doing the floors...
but...

thus
the garden door window stays
closed during renovations.

You are no help at all Banjo...

*Walls, doors and railings have all been painted.
Tomorrow Stanley starts on the floors.  :)

Happy Long Weekend!!
