Meanwhile, back at the castle...

The downfall of going on a lovely holiday is that it makes it harder to come back to your mundane humdrum 'this is your reality' life.

For a week you are living like a Princess; beautiful hotel room, scrumptious food, people cleaning your room, people cooking your food, seeing and doing so many wonderful things, walking hand and hand with your Prince, living the life of leisure...

Meanwhile, back at the castle...there are bills to be paid, housework to do, meals to be made, yard work waiting to be done, responsibilities to take care of and eventually, you have to go back to work so that you can save money to go on another vacation.  Because the fact is, most of us have this kind of life and it's hard to even imagine those that take financial freedom for granted.  Most of us have to seek out more economical ways to live and to find those simple pleasures that make every day special.

Thankfully, I still have one more week of holidays before my reality completely sets in...

Happy Monday!

About the image:  This bronze sculpture was one of many that can be found around the city of Victoria done by Nathan Scott.  This little girl can be found at the Butchart Gardens.

Hi Sweet Lady, I KNOW about getting back to reality AFTER a wonderful vacation... But--the best thing is getting to sleep in our own bed!!!!!! That makes coming home all worthwhile I guess....

Glad you do have one more week before having to go back to work. I'm sure you will find some NEAT things to do this week.
Hugs,
Betsy

Lovely post Catherine! We have several trips planned thru next June already and as much as I want them to hurry up and get here, I don't want them to end already! The anticipation and then the actual time away is something to be savored. Hope you enjoy your last week before going back to the mundane!

Enjoy your time off!!! It's so true that when we want to take a vacation, we have to work twice as hard before and after, just to have that little break. Sigh.

Dearest Catherine,
Oh sure, being on vacation is a paid luxury but the memories and the sunshine (hopefully!) will last for a long time in our memories for suppressing the gray days...
Hugs to you and indulge that one more week of yours!

Well, I haven't been on a real vacation for years -- but my husband reminds me that I'm on vacation every day here on the farm since I retired. And that is true.

Enjoy the rest of your time off Catherine! :)

Isn't it amazing how bills, housework, etc. can be so very patient?? They will always wait right where they are for you!

I am glad you have another week to try to get some relaxation time in!

I think there is a quote that goes along with your blog:
"It is better to have vacationed and come home then never to have gone at all." or was that love? Oh well, enjoy your week!

I guess I'm odd....because, as fantastic as holidaying is....I prefer my own bed, my own 'stuff', my own home/sanctuary.... and my own wonderful, little, simple, life. I love being at home.

Those gardens are on my list of places to visit. Hopefully, I'll travel that way sometime in the next few years.
