Birds of a Feather...

Sleeping with the door wide open on our hotel patio each night
we were treated each morning to the sound of
the water and the seagulls.

This one decided he would give us an
up close and personal wake up call one morning.

So many birds and turtles to
see and enjoy!

A cute little otter just waiting
for someone to take him on a boat ride.

So many sweet sea lions
looking for a free meal!

It's sad as I understand it,
some of them get so used to humans feeding them
they won't go out and hunt for themselves.

But gosh ~ how can you look at those adorable little faces
and not want to give them a fish or two!

And getting to meet a long time
blog friend is always a special treat!

Jaime from rhayne lives on the island,
is a professional photographer
and piano teacher
and was so gracious enough to
take me out for a drive and a little site seeing
and helped me find some sea glass!

A free spirited beautiful young woman
who was as easy to talk and laugh with
as I had imagined from years of reading her blog.

Thank you Jaime!

There's a reason why blog friends connect...

Birds of a feather flock together.
something that you say which means people who have
similar characters or similar interests will often choose to spend time together

Little birdie wake up calls! I don't think I've ever met a blogging friend in person - must do something about that!

That otter is so cute and so are the sea lions. That is sad about them getting too used to being fed.

I like the sound of sea gulls, there are some few folks who do not - silly them! Love the pics and meeting blogging buddies is the best! I've had the great delight to meet a few of mine...

My knucklehead neighbors throw out loaves (yes, plural) of bread out on their front yard and seagulls show up. LOTS of them, too! I don't know where they come from, as we don't live the sea...but we get the gulls. They are very messy...so I'm not sure I like them.

GREAT to meet a blogging friend! Isn't it fun? I hope to meet you one day, pally.

How nice to meet a fellow blogger! I love the island! We go to our place there often. Looks like you had a great time, too bad we just missed each other. We were there July 20 - Aug 24, and in Victoria the second week of Aug. maybe someday we can meet up too. :)

For some reason your last two updates haven't updated. Almost missed these delightful little critters and your new friend.

Okay, the otter is our favorite! We bet Banj Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Joo would have given anything to be with you and see all these great critters. Hope you shared the photos with him 'cause we sure enjoyed them.

I just love sleeping with the windows open.. I think I get a better night sleep when I do. But most of the times my allergies get to me. Depending on where we are. I am loving all your photos from your trip...

Hugs~

The sea otter and sea lions are so cute! The sea lions around here are big, brown and bark all the time! Glad you got to meet a blog buddy too!

You have such a knack with the critters! They must understand how much you enjoy them. Good thing the gull didn't come into the room...that could have been a mess!

Sounds like you had a wonderful visit with Jaime too...that is terrific!

Happy for you and Jaime. :) There were a few otters in the lake I grew up on. Looks like this little guy found a nice boat to hang out in. :) Love all the animal pics!!!

Birds of a feather indeed. I had the best time meeting up with blog pal Val this summer. So glad you and Jaime got to meet. Looks like you are having a wonderful time. Always sad when wildlife can no longer live naturally because of human invasion. People always blame the animals when it is we who have taken over their territory, not the other way around. It is therefore our duty then to take care of them any way we can. Happy Friday. Tammy

Meeting blog friends in person is always a fabulous treat. So glad we've connected and get to spend time together on a regular basis. *big hug*

I hate to admit it and I'll deny every having said it, but - I kind of miss seagulls...

That otter is priceless! I'll bet the owners of that boat are less impressed. Seals though...you've gotta watch them. They can be vicious.

So glad you had a great visit to the island.

So many cute creatures! I love the photo of otter waiting in the boat :-) Maybe he was tired of swimming :-)

How did I not comment here?? I could have sworn I did when I first saw it? I'm so sorry! Where was my head???

It was so lovely to meet you back in the summer. It's such a rare treat to meet a blogging friend, especially when you live on an island and are separated from most by a rather large body of water. I'm so glad you came and I'm so glad we could finally meet. You were such a hoot! You have such a happy-go-lucky energy about you. It was like we already knew each other.. I guess we sort of kind of did, in a way? I only wish you lived closer, so we could go out more often... take pictures, go for tea, etc.
Maybe we can do it again sometime!! Maybe one day I will find myself in Saskatchewan... but probably not in the winter months (which pretty much cuts out 3/4 of the year... kidding! actually not really)
Anyway, I LOVED meeting you. You are a beautiful person, Catherine.
xoxo
