A Small Price To Pay

I retired my old bird bath this year.
Although the birds didn't mind the bowl I put on top of
kitty's head to hold in the water
I thought is was looking a bit tacky....

A new bird bath was in order.
Nothing but the best for my birds.  :)

Everybody seems to be enjoying it.
The doves.

The robins.

The sparrows.

The grackles.
Although I don't enjoy the grackles as much
as they seem to enjoy my yard.
They are loud and obnoxious,
albeit very pretty.

And everyone seems to be sharing nicely.

The birds give me great pleasure.
Watching and listening to them.

All different shapes and colors.

The differences in how they choose to eat their food.

Families of them living in my back yard.

Letting me get close to them
and them stopping to pose for me.

But none have been as enjoyable as
the little nuthatch who is eating out of my hand every night.

He knows that he gets his choice of the best seeds
undisturbed by any of the other birds
since he is the only one brave enough to eat out of my hand.

He keeping an eye on me.
Me keeping an eye (and camera lens) on him.

A new bird bath is a small price to pay
for this kind of enjoyment.

Wishing you a Happy Friday full of
whatever brings you joy!

Your new bird bath is exquisite. I love the simplicity of it and would have chosen something just like this for my own yard.

Love that the bird is brave enough to eat from your hand. That must be a neat thing to experience for you.

WHOA, that is awesome. I wonder if I can get any of the birds here to do that if I buy a new birdbath.

I just got a new birdbath too! That was my birthday present!!

We have been spending a lot of money on nuts for our feeder. They don't leave a mess and we get so many unique birds now. With both kids in college, we may have to cut back on how much we feed them, but I will never stop. It's our entertainment!

Love that new birdie friend you have!

Awesome shots! I especially like the wet and ruffled robin. How great to have a bird eating out of your hand.

I'd love to have a birdbath for our birds. I've heard that they can attract skunks at night though and since I've already seen one on our property, I'm opting not to provide a pool for my feathered friends.

Awesome post, Catherine.. I too --as you know---love my birds.. So entertaining!!!

I love your little Nuthatch friend. He is special!!!! I know that Chickadees will eat out of your hands too--so you'll have to try to get one of them to do it...

Great post. LOVED it.

Love your new bird bath, and the way the thyme? is filling in the cement blocks underneath it. Hoping that ours will look like that one day.

Love your new birdbath, but the Pyrex lime green casserole dish perched above the kitty made me smile.

Amazing. And now you have to tell us how much patience it took to get that to happen. We only rarely in winter get the red breasted variety to come down here into tropical southern Minnesota for a few months...:)
