31 Days of May

I'm in a funk
discombobulated about some things
looking for some meaning
looking for a change
but don't know how to go about it...

I'm giving myself the
31 days of May

31 days to do something
find my spirit
get back my sparkle

for if not now...

when?

Any suggestions my friends?

Oh I get like this a lot!
A few ideas:

#1 - Take a walk in nature and soak up some sun!
#2 - Create a "Thankful" journal
#3 - Focus on your photography and "create". I find that the creative process really stimulates me and drives away that funk!!
#4 - Breath deeply
#5 - Put a smile on. It's hard to be in a funk when you are smiling :)

Hope these help my friend!

my thought is you got to skinny for your own good... LOL.... you should be sparkling away just because you look so good in your jeans. you could be old and fat like me and then need more sparkle. when your sparkles stop sparkling go look in your mirror, i would love to see me in the mirror like you look.

Have some catnip and roll in the dirt! I hope you get combobulated soon!

come out and visit my acreage Catherine and talk and touch the horses, the dog and the cat, Ha! Corinne asked yesterday if I had a home for the cat, I said we are attached to her now. Corinne said that Sylvie is a very unique cat...come out on your afternoon off on Fridays...I will call you...

thanks for lovely card and inspirational soothing book of words...love it!

kerri's got some great advice...

Rolling in the dirt is good.... :-D

Actually, you did get some great suggestions. We think seeing green grass, leaves and blossoms on the trees, and flowers in your garden will help.

Hope you find it soon... but today, I have no words of wisdom as I am going through the same thing.... could it be that we still have snow and much of the country doesn't! ...it's hard to put a finger on what's the cause and what's the solution.... wishing you well! Cheers~

When I feel like that I tend to cocoon, get quiet, allow myself to feel whatever it is I'm feeling, be gentle with myself, cuddle my cat, and nap. That said, you're one of the sparkliest people I know. Maybe something is lurking below the surface that needs some space to reveal itself. Let me know how I can support you in this, my friend.

Take a day for yourself, and don't feel guilty about treating yourself to a "me" day...you deserve it!

Everything Kerri suggests in the very first comment. :). All those things work for me.

I'm sorry you're in this funk. I hope you find a soothing remedy!

I can't imagine you not sparkling...

You could learn to play an instrument or join a choir. Do some voluntary work or just something wild, crazy & lots of fun!

Hope you find it Catherine!

- Grab your camera and go somewhere you haven't been for a while to take some pictures;
- Picnic with your husband (you have a lovely garden);
- Volunteer work or charity;
- Go to your favourite store and buy something nice for you. :)

Ditto what Kerri said.

Bless your heart... Now that you are so skinny and gorgeous, you should be on top of the world.

Take a break from things which you don't enjoy doing... Do something for someone else --taking your mind off of yourself. Start a journal --writing your inmost thoughts --and coming up with some creative things you enjoy doing --and doing them... Take a class on something you really enjoy. Volunteer yourself at a nursing home --or somewhere where people are less fortunate than you are.

You can do it, Catherine... I know you can.. Everything is in your favor!!!! Just change your attitude --and do something to make good changes.

Hugs,
Betsy

Perhaps we should book a shopping day...or better yet, you could retire and move to DL (for 2 years)....remember I will have that extra room. It makes me sad that you are having these days. You just need more weekends and less work days???? Glad you booked that time off next month.

Perhaps you could pack up your whole house and shove it into a trailer and head out on the road.. I know this life is not for everyone but it is pretty freeing or maybe just a bit crazy I can't decide yet..

Hugs~

Oh I didn't realize it was May already!

I know you will make changes for better and sparkle brighter than ever! You've done that! You are my inspiration!!

You are beautiful, you have a wonderful husband and a terrific son and most handsome kitty in the world. I think you enjoy your career. :) And you have so many of us in blog land that adore you! If you still have an empty spot missing I would start keeping a journal of your thoughts and pay close attention to what it is that puts a smile on your face. :) You have a gorgeous smile in that pic in the header! Maybe you could volunteer at an animal shelter or maybe you could get started on those exercise dvds that I mentioned. :)
Hugs,
Marie

Well first, don't be to hard on yourself, you are entitled to a funk now and then. What helps me is getting outside more. Know what I like about May? THREE paychecks! Yippeeeeee!

So many nice comments here. We all find ourselves disheveled at certain moments. I've been working on a good many things this past year and admire Carolyn's comment--the offer to help you onto the road. You'll do it! ;)

So what's got you down? Too much cold and snow there in the far north? That would definitely have us down. How about a few bars of "Here Comes the Sun" to cheer you up? You can hum it to yourself if you like. We're not very good singers. May each day of May be better than the last. Buy yourself a heavy wide gold bangle and never take it off. This will make you feel you are a worthwhile person and deserve it. It works for me.
Or a glass of wine and loud dance music.
Or disappear into a good book, Perhaps a murder story and you can be pleased you are not the victim.
My first choice would be the bangle.

I find that reading a great book takes me out of myself for a bit. xo

We have all found ourselves in this spot at one time or another...
I love both Kerri and Caroline's suggestions....and sometimes you just need to pamper yourself a little...and that's a very individual thing...

Just "be" for a little while and I am sure you will find the answer to bring that beautiful smile back...

I'm quite often discombobulated so I'm not the best person to offer advice. I think you will eventually find your way to whatever it is you're searching for. Some things just take time

You still seem to sparkle more than me!! I'm eager to hear what you do. My funk seems to come and go with the weather, which I hate, but there it is. Hopefully the sun will shine on you soon!!

doing for others can often have a profound effect on someone. Spend some time volunteering or spend some time each day making something or buying something for a non profit near and dear to your heart.

Alright! I'm catching up all out of order!! I had to scroll back to see what this project was all about. =)

Do you still have the winter blahs, even though spring is sort of arrived for you? It's day eighteen and you've done so many lovely things already! Is it all gone by now?

Well, I've had fun reading all of the comments... and, I'll bet most people read all of the comments - curious to see what others would say. And, don't you know, I find myself burnt out and tired and behind after too many good things in the past two months. =) I rather like routine and staying home and just working/keeping up/nurturing my little life. I didn't have the time that I need to be still and, now, feel a little depleted; so, firstly, I'll offer you a big smile of knowing and quiet friendship. My sparkles quite flat at the moment. ;)

Secondly, I read the most wonderful little book, this past year, 'The art of Imperfection' by Veronique Vienne. She has a wonderfully quirky take on life - very refreshing to 'hang out' with her for a moment when reading her book. I think that she would say to appreciate this moment, too! It's just part of life and we strive against it but, really, our awkward, out of it moments are a gift of humanity, too! Does that make any sense? Do you think I'm crazy? It's just so nice to know that we're human and that we walk on the good earth and don't float ten feet above the ground all of the time and life is still good!! (So, I was aware when I started this comment that what I'm really doing is preaching to myself! haha! =D) Anyway, if everything was always together and 'up', we wouldn't near appreciate it as much as we should, eh? ;)

Anyhoo! There's nothing like a beautiful bouquet of flowers (that's my simple 'go-to' answer! ;)) Actually, creating beauty in some way! Doing something for someone else gets me out of myself and just makes me breathe, somehow. And, taking those walks!!! SUN!!!! You're already up and moving, that's what I often need - to get moving and just to brave with my life. Move the furniture around? (Some people like that and some don't) or, maybe, just a pic or knick-knack or two. Have you ever read 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe'? "Don't Panic!" (heehee. ;))

Just, whatever you do, DO NOT watch 'Downton Abbey'!! =P (It sucks you in but it's turned waaaay too soap-opera-ey and depressing! Gack!")

And the best thing in the world... my last ditch, always works, 'go-to'.... well.... perhaps I shouldn't since it involves dark chocolate.... =/

Love to you!!!! =D

Now, I'm going to go read more closely what you've been up to. =)
