Snow and Other Such Nonsense

you read that correctly

it snowed almost all day Sunday

which left me lots of time for thinking

thinking about those people that have DVR/PVRs...

how do those people know what to buy
if they always skip the commercials?

how do they know if they need the
big schticky or the little schticky?

how do they know what kind of cat food
their cat is going to love?

how do they know what new products
are going to help them look simply ageless?

how do they know that they need a
snuggie to keep them warm?

just another example of how
technology is ruining the world...

Photo Credits: The four product images were all found using Google Images with the word "commercial products" and I'm too lazy to list the links of the actual sites I found them on.  Sorry.  :(

A Special Day for a Special Kitty

11 years ago today
a little barn cat
came to live with us...

I don't think barn animals
have fancy drinking fountains Banjo...

I don't think they have
expensive computer chairs
and soft pillow beds to sleep on either...

I think if they are lucky
they get fresh hay to sleep on
and they all drink out of a murky water trough...

I don't think they get new toys to play with
on special days either
such as spoiled kitties do...

which is quickly discarded
when all of a sudden
a moth shows up...
a little extra protein for the day...

you got it good kitty...

Finding The 'Special'

it was just another ordinary day
just one of many that have gone by in a blur lately
a last minute decision to take a full lunch break
a spontaneous call to you
"meet me for lunch?"
"when and where?"
quiet conversation
in-between comfortable silence
I did the inviting
you paid the bill
a not so quick kiss in the parking lot
before we went back to work

the ordinary day became special

Trying To Capture a Moment

May is closing in on us
soon to be replaced by June
half the year gone

July and August
always goes quickly
back to September
visions of yellows, reds and oranges

the next 4 days
predictions of rain
frost warnings out for later this week

please forgive me for being behind
on blog reading this morning
but I am going outside to drink my tea
and to enjoy my pinks before I go off to work

I will catch up with you tonight
as the rain falls against my blossoms
sending them away for another year

I'm Retiring!

but not today

May 19, 2012
marks my 'early retirement' date
28 years in one field
(6 different organizations -  same system)

clearly I started when I was 12...
(give or take a few years)

I know I'm not ready to retire yet
firstly - my pension amount is laughable with the interest rates as they are
secondly - I like shopping too much to give up a paycheque
thirdly - I enjoy what I do... most days... :)
fourthly - I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up

But it's still kind of nice knowing
way back in my mind that technically
I could pack it all up and walk out of my office...

The Rabbit is Out of The Bag (so to speak)

don't tell Stanley that I
bought the rabbits some treats!

Pumpkin Chews!
Especially for small pets like rabbits.

Stanley is a bit of a 'spoil sport'
when it comes to feeding wild animals
like rabbits and gophers...

Oopsie doopsie!

Ummm... What?  Huh?  Hmmm...

Love you Stanley...  :)

Time's Disappearing Act

"For disappearing acts, it's hard to beat what happens to the eight hours supposedly left after eight of sleep and eight of work." ~ Doug Larson

Hello friends!
No complaining about a long week here today.
This one zipped on by.
And we are back at Friday ~ woot woot!

I've had no time for blogging,
no time for taking photos,
no time for creating,
where does that time disappear to!

It disappears into the mundane parts of life I guess.

I have lots of things planned for this weekend.
Enjoying the sunny, warm weather.
Photo shoot, blog catching up, reading.
Movie and Popcorn in Moose Jaw for Mother's Day.

Yup ~ it's going to be a good one!

I hope you get to do
exactly what you want to do
this weekend too!

xo Catherine

Bad Banana Put To Good Use

A wet wet Saturday.
The perfect kind of day to relax
after a busy and long week.

I bought new bananas today
and as someone suggested yesterday
took that bad banana and made
banana chocolate chips muffins!

(shhh...don't tell the boys...they are made with bran and flax...)

And of course
finding a comfy corner of the couch
to lay on
bird watch
and snooze
is always a good idea
for a cold and rainy day.

More rain with predictions of snow for Sunday.

Wash, Rinse, Repeat.

Hmmm... what should I bake tomorrow...

Thursday, May 3, 2012

stick a fork in me...

for the love of all that is important in life...
{weekends, paydays, chocolate ice cream, tea in bed, cats...}
will this week never end???

wishing you a very short work-day friday...
{long live the evening!}

P.S. If you are retired or have the day off please do not rub it in...

Running From The Rain

we left the rain behind on Saturday

in search of sunny skies

two hours West in Medicine Hat, Alberta is where the sun was

supper, shopping, swimming, movie for Saturday night

Sunday morning relaxing in hotel room, Timmy's Tea, iPad

in-between shopping there was the

so many pretty birds

inside and outside of their cages

pretty flowers

pretty butterflies

more butterflies

here and there, unexpected and delightful

turtles, fish, bird houses, so many things to look at

a mini-petting zoo at the garden centre
(where I made friends with the goat)

hey there duck!

how cute was this chicken rolling in the dirt?

and what garden is complete
without a sweet kitty roaming around it?

back home to the rain on Sunday

we were gone for only 25 hours
but our mini-vacation was just what this little family needed.

Happy May!
