Destination ~ Sun, Fun, and Relaxation

I had intended to stay home all weekend
hiding out from the rain and the snow.

But by noon yesterday,
I had enough.

Wayne, Kurtis and I
have put in a lot of extra time at work
over the last few weeks.

We all needed a break.

By 3 pm yesterday we were on the road,
chasing the sunshine West.

Any guesses as to where we ended up?

No Reason At All

rain...

snow...

what more reason do you need
to stay curled up in the house
keeping warm
drinking tea
catching up with blog reading
having snoozies
ordering in supper
watching a movie...

Happy Saturday!

Sure Signs of Spring

Yesterday morning was spent
looking for sure signs that spring was really here.

I needed proof.

It appears all the Canadian Geese are home.
That's a good sign that spring is here.

Sparkles of sunlight on water.
That's a good sign that spring is here.

Sweet duck mates sitting on a nest.
That's a good sign that spring is here.

Purple flowers glistening in sunlight.
That's a good sign that spring is here.

Were these things enough to confirm that
spring was really here to stay?

Hmmmm.....

yup...
it's spring.

What was I saying?

I'm having problems with my memory.
I am repeating myself.
I can't recall names.
I freeze in the middle of a sentence,
not remembering what I was talking about.
I say the wrong words for things.
I walk into a room and forget why I'm there.
I'm having problems with my memory...
Oh...did I just tell you that?

I think I am missing a few rolls of film in the camera of my brain.

Now ladies,
you know what I'm talking about.
I'm confident it's the big "M" word.
But try explaining that to your husband.
No matter how sweet and understanding they are,
no matter what reading material you give them,
they still look at you like you have
completely lost your mind.
Which technically you...
...huh?...
...what was I saying?...
Oh yea...
I'm having problems with my memory...

You know the joke, "I bought some Ginkgo Biloba because
it's supposed to help with memory loss but I keep forgetting to take it!"

Yup, that's me.

So now I ask you,
my more 'seasoned' friends,
does it get better?
Will these brain cramps clear up after awhile?
PLEASE give me hope and tell me it does!!!!

The first is that your memory goes...
and I can't remember the other two..." ~ unknown

Gentlemen...start your engines...

Not wanting the neighbor to
outdo him on lawn care again this year,
Stanley, despite the cool evening air and threat of snow,
breaks out his lawn mower in order to begin
Yard Work 2012...

now if only it would warm up enough for golf
he would truly be one happy man...

Somebunny Better Tell The Snow To Stop

it's cold...
it's snowing...
with more predicted for tomorrow...

I'm just laying low today...

somewhere safer than under Kurtis' car
which is where this adorable bunny seems to find comfortable...

would somebunny please tell the snow ENOUGH already??!

Laugh With Me

People who cannot find time for recreation
are obliged sooner or later to find time for illness. ~ John Wanamaker

Now isn't that the truth?

No matter how busy I am
no matter the mood
I must always find time to laugh during the day.

Lot's of time, it's at myself.
'Cause I like to think I'm funny...

Sometimes I wonder if it's at the detriment of
being seen as not working hard/fast enough.
And when I say 'wonder',
I'm not saying 'worry'.
For I won't be stopping anytime soon.

One of my favourite scenes from Pride & Prejudice:

Elizabeth Bennet: Are you to proud Mr. Darcy? And would you consider pride a fault or a virtue?
Mr. Darcy: That I couldn't say.
Elizabeth Bennet: Because we're doing our best to find a fault in you.
Mr. Darcy: Maybe it's that I find it hard to forgive the follies and vices of others, or their offenses against me. My good opinion, once lost, is lost forever.
Elizabeth Bennet: Oh, dear, I cannot tease you about that. What a shame, for I dearly love to laugh.
Caroline Bingley: A family trait, I think.

Have a happy weekend my dear friends.

And please make time to laugh.

Dear Mother Nature

Dear Mother Nature,

First off, please know how grateful I am that you did not bring me the normal harsh Saskatchewan winter this year.  I truly do appreciate it.  As does anyone else that didn't experience the take-your-breath-away low temperatures and snow as high as your waist.

I was wondering though, is it too much to ask for you to hurry Spring along?  Yes, she has popped in to us once or twice over the last few weeks, but it seems that something is holding her back in staying.  Is it my lack of fall garden clean up that she does not find appealing enough to stay?  Is it the fact that I have yet to empty out my flower pots from last year?  What?  Just let me know and I shall change anything she needs to entice her to stay.

Stanley is anxiously awaiting his first round of golf, and I am of little patience left to find something other than brown to photograph.

Please hurry Mother Nature, I'm fading fast.
xo Catherine

P.S. Anyone else enjoying PicMonkey photo editing program?  I can't remember whose blog I first saw it on but it's fun and it's free!

Sunday Morning Gone Awry

I did my post on my computer yesterday morning
made myself a cup of tea
crawled back into bed
movie playing
ipad in my lap
ready to drink tea
and catch up on blogs

I grabbed my ipad off the night stand
where my hot tea was sitting
forgot that my ipad was plugged in
(are you guessing where this is going?)
and before I could think
my boiling hot tea was coming straight at me

I had 1 split second to think...

what do I sacrifice?

my beloved ipad?
my less than 48 hours old, just bought it Friday, new white duvet?
myself?

I sacrificed myself of course!

while my ipad went unscathed
my arm ended up with 3 burn blisters
and my new white comforter and bed skirt took a hit
(so did my pj's but I didn't care about them)

black tea on white material?
GAAAK!

now for some strange reason
I had Borax in the house
(I think I bought it 10 years ago to kill ants and it didn't work)

I quickly threw the duvet and skirt in the bathtub
with water and Borax

after letting it soak for about 1/2 hour
I soaked what was left of the stains in
Oxi Clean Gel stain remover

'taa daa'
the tea stains are gone completely!

after two hours of washing tea stains out
and wiping up the floor and wall
I still managed to:
watch two movies
do some crafting
exercise
and catch up a bit with blog reading

and this morning
except for a few welts and two small blisters
my arm is fine

well that was some Sunday morning excitement
I could have done without!

Have a happy week!

Hello April

March left us like a lamb.
April promises showers for May flowers.

April 1st ~ one year ago today I started Project Me.
I am where I want to be health wise and weight wise ~ 45 lbs lost.
It was slow.  Very slow. But oh so worth it.

If I would have thought how long it would take
I most likely wouldn't have started.
But one year later I'm so thankful I did.

So here's to April!
The month of new beginnings for me.
I look forward to where the healthy me will go.

Wishing you a beautiful April!
