The Cheese Has Slipped Off My Cracker

How much brain loss can you blame on the "M" word (ladies...you know what I'm talking about here) until you feel you should go see a doctor to check for something worse?

Stupid stuff I have done this week: (OMG...is it only Wednesday?)

  • I had to walk back and forth from my kitchen to the computer room 5 times before I remembered what I was getting.
  • I went out at my lunch break to pick something up and drove to the wrong store.
  • I walked to the post office to mail a card and forgot the card.
  • I phoned an employee using their employee payroll number and sat wondering why their voice mail wasn't cutting in.
  • I needed to send something to my co-worker at another branch and I put my bag of snack crackers into the courier envelope and into the courier bag...MY SNACK CRACKERS FROM MY LUNCH BAG INTO A BROWN ENVELOPE AND INTO THE COURIER BAG!!! Are you kidding me?  What in the H-E-double hockey sticks was I thinking???
I think the cheese has slipped right off my cracker.

Help...

  1. Time to quiet the mind with meditation!
Brain cramps that's all it is. Hubby and I meet in the kitchen and forget what we wanted to say..Geez..aging NOT for whimps!!Gotta laugh about it,not get too serious.
Slow down for 5 minutes daily and just breath and relax..with no thoughts.
    Merry Merry, Ho ho ho!

  2. Ah, this type of stuff happens to me all of the time. I agree with Naturegirl - just gotta slow down and breathe.
Me thinks you have too much on your plate!

  4. ROTFLMAO!!!! OMG, too funny!

It's just the season, all the craziness and last minute pressures and stress. You'll be fine after a bit of a break. :-)

    Merry Christmas to you all!

  5. Oh yeah, you've lost it!! Hahaha! I blame it on the holidays and all there is to do and remember ON TOP of trying to get work done. My job is CRAZY this week--is yours too? I think everyone is pushing stuff off their desks this week so we can chill next week. Gosh, I hope so--I can't take much more of this!

  6. the big M word is my guess, it will get better in a few years LOL but then guess what happens.. you get through the M and then just when life is good the Senior moments kick in and they are here for life.
one of my things is typing the wrong words. just a few minutes ago i typed
outways and meant out weighs... i love the cheese off the cracker and the photo. not sure how they treat M these days but back in 1990 i took hormones.

  10. Ha ha ha...love the cracker story! Its a crazy time of year, throw the big "M' in and its a recipe for chaos!

  11. You may have made your co-worker's day by sending those crackers! What a special surprise! Maybe next time, you could send some cheese with those crackers too. :)

I hope you can laugh about these things and not be too hard on yourself. It's ok to be human!

  12. Oh, Catherine, I've had a good early morning laugh at your expense - hilarious and thank you. Don't sweat it...oh, right, that'll come later, lol.
Just warn the family that if they see Banjo's toys on their dinner plate and Banjo eating lasagna they had just better be quiet and chow down.
    Have a great day.

  13. I have to laugh, I remember my Mom put a gallon of milk in the cupboard. I was there when she discovered what she did. She looked at me and said, "don't you dare tell anyone what I did!"

The cheese fell off my cracker a long time ago. Ack!

  14. Too funny, to be honest I have had that brain since the day I had my first child. I believe pregnancy shrinks the brain, and you never get it back. I often stand in the middle of the room, zoned out, trying to remember why I came into it in the first place.

  15. Oh, my, but oh my goodness to you. You make me laugh because I can so relate ... but crackers from your lunch ... ha, so sorry, but still funny.

  16. Dearest Catherine,
Don't worry - be happy! So this is proof that setting up a Christmas tree early will not help in the overdose of stress...
    Hugs to you,

  17. I can't stop giggling, you are the best Christmas humour I have encountered so far....

Love this pinterest pin, "if I had a dollar for everytime I got distracted...I want some ice cream."

It's just life, it's busy, and there are a lot of things on our minds right now.

I bet they thought you sent them a quick snack with those crackers.

  20. Thanks for the afternoon chuckle. It happens to all of us, no matter the age. I bet your co-worker will be expecting a cake from you next time. Fun post!

  21. I've done all of those things at least once except for the courier bag thing...lol. Blame it on the holidays

  22. Oh, this sounds very familiar to the lady. She is 58 so she experiences these things daily.
She has to concentrate and think only about the task at hand. If she lets her mind wander even a little, she ends doing something similar to your dialing the payroll number.
I think it has to do with a growing inability to do divided attention tasks (something to do with the part of the brain called the hippocampus and short term memory deteriorating as we age).

I was going to mention something else....hmmm. Can't remember.

  23. That made me smile - but the last bit about the crackers, had me laughing out loud! Oddly, I feel so much better about myself now. *grin*

  24. Oh my gosh, Cat. That just literally made me laugh out loud!
    Poor girl ;)

  25. That's funny! I was laughing at all the things you did and then couldn't figure out what the "M" word was. I totally blanked out! It wasn't so funny then. Ay yi yi.

  26. Oh the big M word...don't worry, you are not alone. At some point you find the way to enjoy it...hehe.

  27. Sorry, but I really had to chuckle over the crackers in the courier! I seem to be doing things like that often..oh no, I can't remember the latest thing I've done to share it with you:) Take care Catherine!

  29. HA HA ----That just proves that you are NORMAL.... We females can blame it on the "M" word --or on our hubbies --or our pets... BUT--that's just the way WE are!!!!! We are women---hear us roar--or laugh--or cry... We can do it all, can't we???

Just laugh at yourself and keep on keeping on!!!!!

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  30. Too funny! Loved the cracker one! As for "forgetting", I don't think it has to be the M for that to happen... but it certainly doesn't help matters. Cheers!

  31. Well, you're only human, Cat. And besides, we all have so much on our mind these days. Give Banjo a hug! :)
