A Little Visitor

I don't often get squirrels in my yard.
This black one kept visiting me all day yesterday.

It appears that the little Nuthatches have some
major competition for those sunflower seeds this fall.

Not to worry little bird...
you know I will keep that feeder full.

Catherine, I love it! We each posted on black squirrels in our yard at almost exactly the same time! Have a wonderful week!

Well....you've got squirrels now! Once one finds out you've got good food, they tell their friends. And they tell their friends....and so on.

I like squirrels at our feeder though--I think they are cute. So does Hobbes.

We always have squirrels around, they drive the boys crazy. LOL. I did have one get into my back space once, a couple of years ago, and of course he couldn't climb out because of the sheeting attached to keep Nicki from jumping up (slippery, nothing to get claws into). I had to go out, move everything blocking the gate, haul it open, then chase the squirrel around with a broom till it finally scooted out. :-D

Now, the nuthatch is lovely! I never see them in our neighbourhood. Don't know if they're in our region, or perhaps limited to less densely populated urban areas.

We have lots of squirrels at our bird feeders. My cats ignore them although Deva did manage to catch one once but now they are too boring to bother with. My favourites are the small red ones...so cute:)

What a cute little black squirrel! I haven't seen any black ones around here, only the light brown. Just yesterday I was watching two of them. One had something in its mouth, and the other one was chasing it around our front yard...it was fun to watch. That little nuthatch is so cute!

Oh Catherine, he is gorgeous! He reminds me so much of Rufus our black long haired cat. He spends all day swaggering his impressive bushy tail (oh yes, he knows its impressive, LOl!).
Your images are beautiful and so full of Fall colors and feelings... I'm loving it!

Your squirrels are so pretty! :) With your yard visitors and Banjo, I don't think I'd get much done at your house since I'd be watching furry and feathery critters all day long!

He's adorable Catherine, we have no squirrels in our area, so when one shows up you'd think it was a really big deal. Great pics as always!

I didn't know squirrels came in black. Love the bottle brush tail. XX

I wills end you some squirrels!!! We had 7 in the yard today - all baffled by the new squirrel proof feeder - we will see how long that lasts. We actually have white albino squirrels here.

That nuthatch does not look too pleased with the squirrel for helping himself to that seed.

We have brown and orange squirrels coming to our bird feeder, but never seen a black one!
The cute little bird is lucky to have full feeder even with competitor :-)

I know squirrels are supposed to be rodents and, therefore, undesirable, but I can't help liking the little rascals. This one is adorable with its bushy wire brush tail and excellent highwire skills.

Is that cute or what!?

I don't mind the squirrels, though I know of folks who say they are destructive. My feeling is they are part of nature, just like the bunnies and the birds and have a place in my back yard just like the others.

You'll likely have to fill the bird feeder a little more often!

Have a great week!

I didn't know you had black squirrels "up there" Catherine.

Great captures of the squirrel and nuthatch.

Those little rascals...they are always after the bird seed. They are crazy, manically chasing each other around and squawking at each other. Climbing up the house and peeking in windows. As you can tell we have a lot of squirrels out here!

I think the only other black squirrels I've ever seen were in Stanley Park in Vancouver... Your shots caught his antics perfectly!

Oh those little scamps the squirrels! They raid my feeders until they are empty and have destroyed many prized ones.
I now throw out shelled peanuts for them so they have to seek and find. Keeps them busy and out of the feeders.

Fast and agile animal. I tried to photograph one in the Retiro Park in Madrid but quickly disappeared.

Greetings from Spain.
