Rotten Apple Award - 1st

So my first ever
"Rotten Apple Award"
goes to.....
*drum roll*
the Kellogg's cereal makers!

BOOOOOOOO to Kellogg's!!!!

For shame Mr. Kellogg!
(or whoever is behind this fiasco)

For shame in coming up with another
sugar laden
idiotic
could it be any more unhealthy
cereal.

At a time when childhood obesity is at it's highest,
why on Earth do we need another 'chocolate' morning food.

Who in the H-E-double hockey sticks
needs chocolate for breakfast???
And you know I like me my chocolate ~ but really???

But look ~ says Mr. Kellogg ~
we have a claim on the box about the
"good source of fibre & whole grain"

Well...

let us read the ingredients....

sugar
sugar
sugar

oh!  Palm Oil!
Alright!
Can't you just feel your arteries closing in on you?

But wait...
here we go...
oat fiber
the 12th ingredient down...
and what's that?
more sugar
and more palm oil?
and then a bunch of ingredients
that I can't read or pronounce?

hmmmm....
dietary fibre 3g
sugars 11g
yup...
that sure does sound like
'good eats' to me!

So to you Mr. Kellogg,
I bestow on you
my own personal
Rotten Apple Award!

sigh...
freedom of speech...
it's a beautiful thing...

Have a Happy HEALTHY Wednesday!

I like the 30 grams of fat in that 3/4 cup serving size. Ugh. I suppose there are those out there who don't pay attention to the nutritional values....I guess somebody is buying this stuff, right?

I agree! It goes along with disposable training pants and microwavable rice pots!
The list is endless for this award.
Have a great day Catherine!

I haven't even seen this cereal or even an ad for it. Maybe because I don't eat cereal.

You know the other product/ad that gets me? I keep seeing an ad for adult vitamins that are like gummy worms. Some silly male actor chewing happily away, like a 30+ year old male can't swallow a freakin' vitamin pill. Talk about keeping the stereotype of men as little boys alive. I don't think I could stand to be with someone so juvenile that they can't take a real vitamin. Hence the reason I've been on my own for 11+ years. LOL.

GAAAAK! Yes - HATE the gummy vitamins commercial! Honestly, grow up guy and take your medicine like an adult!!!! LOL!

Mmmmmmmm! Tocopherols! My favorite! My auto correct just went crazy! I'm with you on this one Catherine, if I wanted a candy bar for breakfast I'd buy a Snickers!

That cereal just looks nasty! Yuck! I wouldn't even take a second look at that in the grocery store. I wouldn't let my kids eat that! So dumb!

Such a well deserved award! My Dad says if you can't pronounce it or don't know what it is, don't put it in your body!

a big 'ewww! yuck!' from me! sounds completely unappetizing! i like my cereals plain and unsugared. give me a bowl of oats and i'd be happy. :)

Dearest Catherine,
Guess we all would faint if we would see a statistic about sugar consumption; how it increased the last 100 years per capita use.
You are right with your award.
But still, it is a personal choice and responsibility! They produce what the consumers are asking.
For me no sugar but others don't care.
Love and hugs to you,
Mariette

And they haven't forgotten to mention "skin milk"...
Is it a recommendation?
Have a good day my friend! ;-)

I enjoy two versions of Granola from a cmpany that succeeded Paul Newman's Own. But I agree with you about poor choices.

Well deserved award for Kelloggs! The cereal aisle is getting to be the largest in the grocery store and 80% of it is sugar! Krazy! :)

I had pretty much the same thoughts when I first saw this cereal in the stores. I love chocolate but I don't want it in my cereal.

Ohhh well said!! I think Mr. Kellogg well deserves Rotten Apple Award. LOL!
Chocolate in cereal for breakfast sounds very unhealthy. What are they thinking?

I saw this advertised yesterday and remarked to my grandson that I didn't think I would enjoy that for breakfast.

I hadn't seen this before - we tend to stick to the old standby Cheerios though they tend to get stale before we finish a box.

Unfortunately I'm more of a coffee for breakfast person - not a fan of eating in the morning. Not sure which is worse!

I will stick to my porriage every morning. :) Have a great day.

So I am pretty sure Coco Puffs aren't good for you either. I used to love those as a kid.. Not so much as a grown up.. I am sorry to say I love chocolate. Chocolate glazed donuts YUM. But I almost never have them. Only for a treat. But I do sit down with a bowl of Cheerios for desert every now and then.. I know breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day they say. But I can't bring my self to eat Breakfast at all.. My first meal is usually Lunch. You are so right there are way to many sweet cereals out there.. Did they really need another one. Sorry about the long comment. To much coffee..

Hugs~

such an appropriate award for them! You're so creative! I like bananas in my corn flakes. :)

....and, now, they're finally coming up with the studies and proof that processed foods are causing all sorts of mischief in modern health! And, now, suddenly, people will believe it.... but my body told me this over twenty years ago when I came down with Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction syndrome. But, I STILL can't get my husband to stop buying the boys nachos, etc! >=(

Although.... I must say.... eating chocolate chip cookie crisp cereal (bowl after bowl of it) and waking up early on Saturdays to watch cartoons is a really, really good memory! =] it usually began with watching the test pattern - the programming for the day hadn't started yet. ;)
