Dream Big!

It is said that you should write down your goals,
to visualize them,
create that picture in your mind,
in order to make them come true.

I bought a lotto ticket for tonight.

 { Not to worry ~ I don't need the 1.800.got-a-gambling-problem number. I'm the one
that could barely squeak out $5 for the slot machines in Las Vegas remember? }

I only buy a ticket every once in awhile.
I'm cheap.
And I'm NOT greedy.

I don't need the whole $30 million they are drawing for.
Just $1 million.
That's all I need really.

I just need enough to retire early,
buy an acreage with a big house
and a heated barn
and fill that barn with lots of
wonderful
joyful
non-judgemental
non-demanding
unconditional love giving
animals.

Hmmm.....
perhaps I should revise my goal and add to it
someone to clean that barn out every day.

"It" could get a little deep in there.  ;)

And you?
What would you do with $1 million dollars?

And no answers of giving it all to charity or buying 'World Peace' please.
And yes, I know money can't buy happiness
but come on,
if you are going to dream,
Dream Big!

Wishing you a happy,
may all your dreams come true,
weekend!

a lot like what you would do, 3 acres close to a beach, big barn for lots of dogs and 2 minature donkeys but i have to have enough cash to have a person who takes care of it all while i spend time on the beach and petting the animals. i also want a cow, a longhorn steer, a friendly one and make my goats miniature, the are so cute. no chickens no geese just 4 legged critters,

Great dreams. I too am like you - don't need the whole thing.

I'd tithe 10% and then I would help my family and others, and with what is left I would travel.

Yours sounds great too!

A DSLR would be nice ... there would probably be some change left over however.

Love your post today...The only thing for me would be to get a beach house, then I'd be a philanthropist and take applications for individuals who have gone through dire circumstnaces and want to fund a dream...pay for college for my son and nieces and nephews and help my sister out who is a single mom....

Well I've already retired early so that's done but if I won a million I'd build my dream house on a couple of nice wooded acres with a lake frontage.

It's me said...

I really don;t know darling......i am so happy with having what i have right now.....lovely weekend......xxx...

Well, I like your idea as long as it includes a barn-keeper. Me...I want to live in the country in a nice, small house (easy to clean)with a big garden and open the most beautiful cat boarding kennel in the country. Again....with staff. ^..^

I would donate to animal shelters and rescues. I might even open my own. I would adopt a lot more puppy dogs. My family and friends would all be taken care of. I would buy about 20 acres in the country and build a cozy home with a fireplace in almost every room. Have a huge barn for my hubby and son to tinker on cars in. Pay for my son's college tuition and invest! :)

Lin said...

Pay off all the college bills for both kids, move away from Weirdville to a house on a LOT of property and no neighbors, and quit my job.

Gosh, if I can't win, I sure hope you do! :)

Connie said...

I would pay off my bills, share some with family, and retire in my dream home overlooking the ocean.

Good luck tonight!:)

Have to think about it, Catherine :-)
Do hope you'll have a lot of luck tonight with your ticket !

$1M would be nice. I *almost* bought a ticket, but I don't believe the Universe would grant me a win, so saved the $5 for a latte or two. LOL.

It wouldn't be enough for me to retire at this time, though.

I'd invest half right off the bat. The other half...I honestly don't know if I'd stay here or move to a better-designed, roomier home with a real yard. I'd have to fix this place up to sell it anyway. And there ARE a few private rescuers I'd love to donate money to.

I'd pay off my line of credit and credit card, put aside a few tens of thousands for vet bills (not joking there), buy new clothes for a change, instead of used clothing from Value Village. Buy a decent bed, replace the 20 year old couch. The usual that people would do. :-)

I would share it will all the people who leave comments on my blog! :)

I'd buy a house on lots of acreage and have a huge animal sanctuary for dogs and cats with special needs so they'd have a place to live the rest of their life in comfort and lots of love! I might even build it near your barn! :)

I think you have it right, for sure.
My goal is to eventually get a "cat house", specifically for fostering kitties year round. I'm hoping to do this regardless of a million dollars, but I know that would help get it started!
I'm with you though. I'm afraid to gamble. I think I've bought a lottery ticket 2 or 3 times in my life. I just keep my fingers crossed that good things will come to me naturally ;)

I'm crossing my fingers for you Catherine.

If I came into a lot of cash I'd sign up for this workshop in Pennsylvania with Joy Cowley (a picture book writer).

I did too - occasionally but never did strike! :)
Wish you good luck!

I had two resolutions last year: win the lottery and be joyful. Unfortunately in didn't work out as I planned.

More cats? more royal stuff? more trips to London? This is too hard a question. Next question please.

That sounds great Catherine!

We want a small cottage, at least 20 miles away from a road & civilisation. It has to have it's own spring, lots of land for growing, a fresh water lake for swimming, a forest for logs, a wind turbine & solar panels & surrounded by lots of wildlife... Oh & a porch with a couple rocking chairs!

We dream about it most days...

Have a lovely weekend!

I'd fill the barn with 2 lambs, 2 cows and 2 horses. I wouldn't want them to feel lonely. ;-)
Good luck Catherine!
Have a good weekend!

LOL ... love this post! Mine would be similar except for the pigs. Grew up on a pig farm... so I've had my fill! And speaking of fill ... absolutely someone to daily clean out all that "fill"!

with all those animals to feed I think you might need the whole 30 million and definitely hire someone to clean the barn.
If I won really BIG I would buy a house in the country. Duke and I would spend our days walking our bazillion acre spread taking pictures and enjoying the fact that I never had to work another day in my life.

After reading all these comments I can't remember how much money we are talking about! If it is $1million, I would keep it all! I would open a cooking school bar none. I would go to Italy every 6 months. My Miss Sugar would have a grooming every 2 months. I would hire someone to haul away all this terrible soil and bring in a bunch of nice rich loam and get a new lawn and garden. I would buy a bunch of well rotted sheeps manure and get the garden producing. I would buy a bunch of wine from Opimium. I would swim every day or I would walk/run every day. I would go skiing every winter. I would drive the Highway to the Sun every summer. Well, we can all dream!

Tamago said...

Oh I love your goal :-) I should write down when I buy a lottery ticket! I agree, I don't need $30 million. I think it's better if 30 people win $1 million each, rather than just one person wins $30 million.
I hope you accomplish your goal!

SquirrelQueen said...

Those are my kind of goals. I really like the idea of a big house with acreage and a heated barn.

17 cats? That's more than I have right now. :)

Cheri said...

You have similar wish list - I would have to give some away to those who really need it and with the rest I would do the same as you - acreage with a big house to house all our cats with plenty of room for them and us!

Laurie said...

LOVE your barn goal!! For me, it would be pay off my family's homes, then build the greatest chicken coop ever, buy the burrow I've always wanted, and totally remodel my home. No wait, I'd move further into the country. Yeah, that's what I'd do!

Barbara Shallue said...

I hope you win! All I need is $1 million, as well, to get out of debt and be able to spend our time writing and taking photos (me) and building furniture, etc. (him.) Really, just $1 million. Is that too much to ask? (Good luck!)

I'd buy my husband a BIG truck, then take my children out of school and travel the world for a year, and then, renovate my kitchen, oh, and tell hubby he could retire now too. I buy lotto tickets too, maybe twice a year, the last ones I bought I scratched them in the bathroom, hiding it from the family. Didn't even win 2$

Michael Manning said...

First time I've read about a "large heated barn". How cool! (no pun intended). :) A great item to list!!

GreatGranny said...

I keep trying too, but don't know what I'd do after supplying my family with their needs. I do know I'd have my own home so Kassey could have plenty furriends.
I hope you reach your goal.

BumbleVee said...

I wish they'd break up the big wins...like the $30 millions...into 30 $1million prizes...they 30 of us could win a million instead of one goofball getting the whole 30n mill...... think how much better that would be? And...fun?...wow.... could I do some fun stuff with even one mill.....
I'd send Sheila the little Donkey Sanctuary a wad of loot right off the bat ... no..I'd want to deliver it in person...just for the sheer enjoyment of seeing the look of incredulity on her face! ahhaha...what fun that would be! That would be the kind of thing I could have sooo much fun doing.... because little things make me happiest.
