Thanking My Lucky Stars

The washing machine is dead

I lost 900 stars and 3 purchased songs

{BOOOO! to wii Nintendo for not letting you transfer purchased items to a new system!}

I'm fighting with losing those last 5 lbs

Sometimes when you are being "Ms. Pouty Pants"

you have to take a hard look at your life and say

"Is this all I have to worry about today?"

I have a warm roof over my head

people and a furry friend who love me

I am healthy

I am alive

Yup...

life is pretty good!

Sometimes you just need to
give yourself a little 'pep' talk now and then.

Back to Normal

It was over in the blink of an eye...

Everybody got their Christmas socks!

Banjo loves his new bed

{don't tell him that it's a dog bed...}

I was spoiled by my boys once again

I took my tree down Boxing Day

as I always do

{up early ~ down early}

all the decorations are put away

LIFE is back to NORMAL here!

Ready Or Not

Presents Wrapped ~ check

Baking Done ~ check

Groceries Bought ~ check

Turkey Unthawing ~ check

I think I'm ready....

There will be just me, hubby, son and kitty again this Christmas.

We are just a small little family.

We eat our Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve.

Then we will watch a Christmas movie

or play a game or two.

Christmas morning,

cinnamon buns will be made

(don't be too impressed ~ made by Pillsbury Dough Boy!)

hot beverages ready

along with Christmas oranges.

We turn on the fireplace

(OK...it's just the "Yule Log" channel on TV)

we sit around the living room

sipping our drinks

opening our presents.

We take turns opening gifts

one by one

including the cat.

(Kurtis helps him a bit with the tape...)

It takes us well over an hour to open gifts.

It's not that we have that many,

we are just that slow.

Each gift must be talked about

shown off

Christmas socks laughed at.

(What is Christmas without socks as gifts?)

We will spend the day

munching on left-overs

playing wii games

(I'm hoping Santa brings us "The Price is Right"!)

watching movies

spending time with each other.

No hustle

no bustle

no running around.

The four of us are just a small little family.

But there is lots of love...

The holiday season is filled with so many delights for the taste buds.

I have been repeating my daily hourly mantra for weeks now...

"A moment on the lips, a life time on the hips."

So far so good...

I don't know what else I can do for you.

And as you can see,

I'm not above dressing up my cat

even though I know it is very very wrong to do so,

just to try and get you into the Christmas spirit...

Forever My Baby

21 years ago today

a sweet wee soul entered my life

and brought to me a sense of

love

that I had never experienced before.

Happy 21st Birthday Kurtis!

A young man that I am very proud of to call my son.

(And yes...you are still my baby...!)

You are such a JOY to see

when I have the day off!

Stanley and I spent Friday afternoon, night and

most of Saturday in Medicine Hat. 

Christmas shopping is done! 

Whoohoo!

A great big "to do" list for today:

• Blog post (check!)
• Catch up with blog friends (so many beautiful blogs!)
• Wrap presents (Banjo...get out of those bows...)
• Do a little baking (...that will be given away...)
• Finish Start Christmas cards (oh my stars - I'm behind!)
• Finish a Christmas present project (I'm running out of time!)

Lead Me Not Into Temptation

OK

so I realize I have a lot of

temptation out and about

for kitties during the holiday season...

and maybe it's all

just a little too much

for one kitty to handle...

and for the most part

Banjo has been a pretty good cat...

but every once in awhile

the temptations on my tree

just get a little too much for him...

after all...

he's only human...
errr...well...you know what I mean...

and he starts

putting the bitey on the tree branches

and whacking a few balls around...

that's when the water spray bottle comes out

and he gets a good squirt of water

aimed right at his butt

sometimes he just turns around

and puts the bitey on the spray bottle

notice all the chew marks on the spout?

sometimes he just sits and pouts

(after he dries off his butt of course)

and gives me that evil look...

but sometimes...

hmmmm.......

was it revenge?

or was it an 'accident'?

naughty or nice?

hmmm.....

I guess Santa will have to

decide for himself on that one...

Hello December!

I see you as...

• Christmas music playing
• Christmas specials on TV
• watching of all my Christmas movies
• the month of giving
• twinkly lights everywhere I look
• the season of joy
• families spending time together
• the smell of cinnamon and ginger
• warm candles glowing
• well wishes among strangers

even though you are also...

• starting off white (10 - 15 cm of snow fell yesterday or 4 - 6 inches)
• too many parties
• marketing media overload
• holiday shopping
• tired looking Santas in the malls
• crying snot nosed children wanting everything they see
• over indulgences
• tapped out credit cards
• constant offerings of tempting goodies
• over crowded stores
