This Week is a Rap

even though it's only Thursday
it feels just like it's Friday
'cause tomorrow is Canada Day
which means it's a holiday
to celebrate Canada's birthday
it's supposed to be a warm day
I'll have money 'cause it's payday
to the fair we'll go around midday
bar-b-que with family at the end of day
it's going to be a great day
hip hip hooray!!!

Hmmm......
I feel like I've just written a rap song...

Have a terrific July 1st Canada Day tomorrow my Canadian friends
and a happy 4th of July to my American friends!!

Long weekend for both of us!
Woot woot!!!

Any of my foreign friends get a long weekend?
I hope so!
If not,
still have a good one!

Thought For The Day ~ If I Was Boss

I think it's wrong to have to work
on such a beautiful sunny day

if I was boss for the day
I would close up shop
and send everyone home
to sit outside
drink something ice cold
(beverage of choice)
and simply relax
no house work
no yard work
allowed

of course...
I also think it's wrong to work on
rainy days
snow days
windy days
Fridays
Saturdays
Sundays
Mondays
and your birthday

if it's a lovely day out today
and you have to work...
my heart goes out to you...
I'm right there with you friend!

Go With The Flow

“When the tides of life turn against you

and the current upsets your boat,

don't waste those tears on what might have been,

just lie on your back and float.”

~ unknown

If you are looking for me,
I'll be outside,
playing in the sun.

I will catch up with you this evening,
when the rain is back.

Wishing you a Sunny Happy Sunday!

Did you smile?

You know you've had enough rain
when these start popping up all over your garden!

A mushroom walks into a bar and sits down.
The bartender says "Hey... we don't serve mushrooms here!"
The mushroom says "But why not?  I'm a fungi!"

Bawhahahahaha... fun-guy... get it?

(come on... I know you are smiling...)

Happy Friday!

I Forgot The Pause

6:10 am
sitting on my patio
hot tea

6:15 am
warm sunbeams
promises for a beautiful day

6:20 am
sounds of birds singing
dew sparkling on the grass

6:25 am
flowers opening
smell of lilac blossoms

6:30 am
deep sigh...
time to go in and get ready for work

In my pursuit to Repeat/Delete/Skip/Change my day,
I forgot to add Pause to my

"Now and then it's good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy."

Random Photos ~ Random Thoughts

"Art" on the Prairie's?

Can you picture some settler,
after having traveled thousands of miles
west across Canada
stopping in the middle of nothing and saying to his new bride,
"This looks like a good place to build a house!"

Why don't people take down their
old houses and old barns?

The End

Celebrate at the Beginning

It seems only fitting
that I celebrate my
3 Years of Blogging
and 900 Posts
with photos of my inspiration
that started it all.

My very first post was of this big boy!

3 years later
with many many many posts dedicated to him,
when I post about Banjo,
he still gets the most blog comments.

"Harumph.... well of course I do.  I'm beautiful!!"

Yes Banjo.... you are beautiful.
Just make sure you aren't horking up
all the grass you are eating
onto my living room carpet
later tonight....!!!
Not so beautiful then!

Happy Wednesday!

Just thinking about tomorrow...

Do you ever wish you had the power to

REPEAT

SKIP

CHANGE

your day?

I think I would choose the 'CHANGE' button for today.

Well....
that's the good thing about life isn't it?

Everything always looks brighter in the morning.

Sweet dreams...

A Perfect Day

I sent Wayne a text
(who was out on the golf course)
around 9 am yesterday morning
and told him if he came home right after golf
I would 'let' him take me somewhere.  :)

By 11:20 am we were on the road
to Medicine Hat, Alberta.
(a 2 hour drive from Swift Current, Saskatchewan)

Instead of just going for lunch
and shopping like we usually do
when we go to The Hat,
I googled "Places to Visit in Medicine Hat"
and I came up with
Echo Dale Regional Park.

It has a Historical Working Farm
that you can tour.

There didn't seem to be much 'work' going on at this farm.

But there was baby calves...
who doesn't like a baby calf?
So cute!

There were Pot Bellied Pigs.
OK... not so cute.
But beauty is in the eye of the beholder right?

There was a rooster
and some hens.

A male and female duck,
swimming in very dirty water.

Two curious sheep.
Looks like someone took their winter coats already.

A couple of work horses.

They were very friendly.
I got horse slobber on me as a matter of fact.

There was working equipment
and old tools in the barn.

And what farm would be complete
without a cat to ensure
the mice population is kept to a minimum?

Though
this sweet kitty
didn't appear to be too energetic.
I would suggest mice and birds are safe from him.

My goodness kitty...
what big paws you have!

He knew he was beautiful.
He worked the camera....
and me!

Oh those eyes!

There was a beautiful man-made lake with people
canoeing, swimming, floating, picnicking, playing games and simply relaxing.

The whole park is on the South side of the red cliffs.

There was even a little bit of wildlife along the way.
(So sad to watch beautiful creatures trying to cross a busy highway.)

By 5:00 pm we were driving back to the
flat prairies of Saskatchewan,
drinking a pop,
eating liquorice,
and singing to Elton John.
(OK... I was singing... Stanley was just listening to me...)

You have to love a man that chooses to
take his wife for a Saturday afternoon drive and photo shoot
instead of spending the afternoon drinking in the Club House.

Thank you Stanley!
You are one in a million!
Love you!

Don't you love when that happens??!!    :)

Have a super wonderful beautiful sunny terrific happy Friday!!

Bags to Tags and Other Random Connections

I got this carry-all 'free' the other day.
Now when I say 'free',
I mean I spent over $100 at Clinique
the other day shopping.

Speaking of shopping...
this shopping bag was not free.
It cost me $5.00.
I kind of enjoy collecting bags.

Speaking of collecting bags...
I have oodles and oodles of gift bags.
I buy them and then can't seem to use them.
It's one of my quirks.

Speaking of quirks...
I got these pretty work gloves the other day.
I haven't used them yet as I didn't want to
get them dirty digging in the garden.

Speaking of garden...
It's so exciting having my flowers bloom.
Everything is really starting to pop
with the warmth of the sun.

Speaking of sun...
We've had two nice days in a row.
Sunshine and no wind.
It makes me very happy.

Speaking of happy...
Brian and Negerigeletschtempoit both tagged me the other day.
That makes me happy.... I think... ;)

I hope they don't mind, but I am going to combine the two of them.

So here it goes:

If you could be any historical or current character who would you be?
Mary Ellen from The Waltons.

Name an interesting fact about yourself.
When I get really tired I go cross-eyed.

If you could go back in time and change one thing, what would it be?
I would buy stock in Clinique.

Which character traits annoy you?
There's so many... I don't want to put them in writing just in case that person reads my blog and thinks I am talking about them... which I totally would be.

Name one thing that you would change in yourself?
That I cry very easily.

What do you consider your biggest achievement?
Not eating the whole bag of milk chocolate chips that are in the freezer tonight.  I stopped at half the bag.

Do you think you’re hot?
Not at the moment.  The window is open and there is a cool breeze blowing in.

Upload a picture or wallpaper you are using at the moment.
See the photo below of the tea cup and heart toast?  Yup ~ that's it!

When was the last time you ate chicken meat?
Yesterday.  I eat chicken at least 4 times a week.  (Please... no hate mail from the vegans out there....!!)

The song(s) you’ve listened to most recently?
The CD of James Blunt "Some Kind of Trouble".  It's been playing in my car for over a month.  It drives Wayne crazy that I get hooked on a CD and play it forever.

What were you thinking when you were doing this?
That I've been working on this post for over an hour and it's now 9:20 pm and therefore it is waaaaaaayyyyy past my bedtime.

Do you have any nicknames?
You can call me 'Cat', you can call me 'Kate', you can call me 'Katie', you can call me 'sweetie', you can call me 'my dear', but don't call me 'Cathy'.  :)

Now...
just like I do with those 'chain e-mails'
that always get passed around,
I will be the one to break the chain
as I am not going to pass on these tags.

I know...
I'm a very very bad blogger.... ;)
