Ready Or Not

Presents Wrapped ~ check
Baking Done ~ check
Groceries Bought ~ check
Turkey Unthawing ~ check

I think I'm ready....

There will be just me, hubby, son and kitty again this Christmas.
We are just a small little family.
We eat our Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve.
Then we will watch a Christmas movie
or play a game or two.

Christmas morning,
cinnamon buns will be made
(don't be too impressed ~ made by Pillsbury Dough Boy!)
hot beverages ready
along with Christmas oranges.

We turn on the fireplace
('s just the "Yule Log" channel on TV)
we sit around the living room
sipping our drinks
opening our presents.

We take turns opening gifts
one by one
including the cat.
(Kurtis helps him a bit with the tape...)
It takes us well over an hour to open gifts.
It's not that we have that many,
we are just that slow.
Each gift must be talked about
shown off
Christmas socks laughed at.
(What is Christmas without socks as gifts?)

We will spend the day
munching on left-overs
playing wii games
(I'm hoping Santa brings us "The Price is Right"!)
watching movies
spending time with each other.

No hustle
no bustle
no running around.

The four of us are just a small little family.
But there is lots of love...

Wishing you and your family,
furry and not,
a wonderful beautiful magical Christmas!

xo Catherine, Wayne, Kurtis & Banjo

Those are great photos of your family. That's what I like, no hustle, no bustle, just family time. Lovely. Have a beautiful Christmas and give that Banjo boy a hug from all of us which would be a lot of hugs ;-b. Merry Christmas, Catherine. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x4

Oh, Cat! It sounds so wonderful!!! I keep thinking that Christmas is what we make it! It sounds like you make what you have into something full of warmth and joy! =]

So,'ve just beat me. Oh, alright, you've beat me by a long shot BUT shopping is (almost) all done (just one gift....argh!) and wrapping is almost done! Decorating is almost done! Baking is....almost done! Alright, I can't stop making Christmas - help!!! I've done so much already but it's just so much fun, I can't stop.

Perhaps....just maybe....I should rehook my photo library up to my computer and BLOG about it. KNEW there was something I'd forgotten! ;)

Well, it's been so fun to share it with you, this year!!! =D

PS I've just been having a hard time 'waiting' to get my boys together so that I can show them festive Banjo. You know how they love to hear about his life and times! heeheeheeheheeee!

Merry Christmas, Catherine, to you all.

I'm an only child, so our Christmases always were small, and my ex-husband had only one brother--no huge family there either.

Small is good. Doesn't matter the size, it's the love and joy that matters!

Peace and Blessings to you all, have a wonderful celebration.

looking forward to more great photos in 2012!

it sounds perfect!

(laughted at your use of the word 'unthawing'. we used that in my family too. it actually means the opposite of what we'd want to have happen. :))

That's about the same way we spend Christmas. Although my kids come here Christmas eve, we open gift and then Christmas day it's just me Wade and Duke.
I love the no hustle and bustle kind of Christmas.

Sounds like a perfect family to me... It will just be George and me this year --and that's what we like... Both of our families are scattered out all over the country--so we'll just enjoy talking with them on the phone... One of my sons will come either the end of Dec. or in Jan.

Merry Christmas.

Dearest Catherine,

Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas. In your hearts the family will be bigger for sure but time and place cannot always realize the togetherness in person.
Love to you,

Sounds like the perfect day to me Catherine. The socks reminded me of my Aunt Margaret. Each year, she'd give us a card with two dollars in it, and tell us to "buy some socks" It wouldn't feel like Christmas if we didn't get the infamous sock card!

Janie said...

Exactly, I agree with your plan for Christmas. This is how it was for mty husband, me and two kids many years. Now it is a bit more since they are married with kids. I like the idea and still try to keep it going on opening gifts ONE by ONE. Discuss it. Not just have a huge paper pile and people confused about who gave them a gift. Very practical, and I send you best wishes for a nice holiday.

Oh Catherine...i enjoy reading thi post of yours!
Here, in this region of Portugal , we are a little family too: me, my husband José, My little old dog Bonni, and my 3 years old Husky, Biscoito, (means “biscuit”! that is outside in the cannel.)
I am going to make some cakes (chocolate, pie…and so on….)
Later we eat cod fish, boiled potatoes and cabbages…and boiled eggs…
We have a traditional cake: Cake King.
Then we go to the fireplace and watch TV
Perhaps AXN, or Fox, but ... I avoid series as Law and Order or CSI ... and look for a channel with a Christmas movie. Around midnight we go to bed ...Tomorrow we will wake up and see the gifts that are under the Christmas tree. After we pray and we thank the Lord for all the blessings he has given us.
I Cook octopus for lunch (a tradition), some people eat lamb or turkey. I have lots of sweets for dessert ... but I have to avoid it because I'm getting fat ... LOL
