Lead Me Not Into Temptation

OK
so I realize I have a lot of
temptation out and about
for kitties during the holiday season...

and maybe it's all
just a little too much
for one kitty to handle...

and for the most part
Banjo has been a pretty good cat...

but every once in awhile
the temptations on my tree
just get a little too much for him...
after all...
he's only human...
errr...well...you know what I mean...

and he starts
putting the bitey on the tree branches
and whacking a few balls around...

that's when the water spray bottle comes out
and he gets a good squirt of water
aimed right at his butt

sometimes he just turns around
and puts the bitey on the spray bottle

notice all the chew marks on the spout?

sometimes he just sits and pouts
(after he dries off his butt of course)
and gives me that evil look...

but sometimes...

hmmmm.......

was it revenge?
or was it an 'accident'?

naughty or nice?
hmmm.....

I guess Santa will have to
decide for himself on that one...

He's just doing his own decorating and let's face it, we decorate with what we have. I think it was a nice gesture. Hugs, Deb

ha! entertaining post....poor Banjo!

He's a good boy--it's not his fault that kitty toy jumped into the bowl of ornaments! Sheesh.

I'm just surprised it wasn't one of those delicious looking birdies on the tree that got it. If I was a kitty....

Pam said...

Obviously he is helping you with your Christmas decorating.

remember when we used to put tinsel on the tree, you know what happens to a cat with tinsel...it was always my job to fix that problem...your tree looks lovely by the way :)

Lúcia said...

Probably he has a different opinion about Christmas decoration. ;-)

Aw, I think Banjo is a good boy! He didn't mean for his toy to go into the bowl of ornaments. Lucy has a wet butt from the squirt bottle too!

Linda @ A La Carte said...

I love this post! Made me laugh out loud. Charlie has his 'moments' with the tree also but most of the time is good. I'm sure Banjo thought his toy was pretty with the ornaments...he was just helping decorate Mama!!

Laughing here ... just too much temptation for a kitty! Love that he put his toy in with your ornaments. That's one smart kitty cat!

Your tree is wonderful !!...love Banjo......he is so so sweet !!!....xxx...hahahahhahaha!!!

Oh my gosh this is too funny Catherine! I think cats are much smarter than people give them credit! I think he wanted to put his own personal touch on your decorations. Maybe he felt left out of the preparations?

Poor Banjo, how could your Mummy put all those lovely feathery things on the tree and expect you to not touch, and then sprays you if you do touch. Don't think that right at all, you must tell the kitty union about this!!! :) Big hug to Banjo. :)

Tricia @ Bluff Area Daily said...

He is such a beautiful & soft looking cat... his colors are gorgeous! Your tree is, too, decked out in white! =)

Fuzzy Tales said...

Banjo, your tree is gorgeous and our mom can see why you might displease your humans by playing with the ornaments. However, you are following your kitty nature--it's the humans who are at fault for putting such tempting things on the tree in the first place.

Feel free to teleport over here, as we have only non-breakable rustic and craft-type ornaments (the mom having learned quickly on that score).

And frankly, we think you could leave a more interesting hint for your humans than that catnip pillow. We're thinking hairball, for instance. That would make your feelings known!

you're torturing that poor child! no cat worth his salt could resist feathery birdies in a tree!!! come on!!!

I think when a 'person' has that much beautiful temptation around - you can't be blamed - he's innocent!

What a gorgeous tree!

And such a cute story.

Catherine, again Banjo has reminded me of all the things I love most about cats!! I'm glad Santa will have to decide about him, because I think he's perfect--But then, it's not my tree or ornaments! :-))

Mom loves the beautiful tree and decorations, I say, 'go Banjo', chew the spray bottle. I hate Mom's spray bottle.

It's okay Banjo, that isn't naughty, tis normal!!!

Oh that Banjo! So many feathers and glittery things to tempt. Jingles was like a madwoman yesterday running through the house, knocking balls of yarn down and then chasing them all over the place. I haven't put out any Christmas stuff yet. Your tree is very pretty with all the white. Sorry to hear you have the white stuff outside too. Stay warm and cozy. Best wishes, Tammy

Dearest Catherine,

Oh my! Such temptation for poor Banjo-boy... Now you can guess why we don't even attempt to have a tree with seven Banjos!
But putting the bitey on the spray bottle is so funny! How can one be mad at them?!
Lots of love,

Mariette

PS time is almost running out with daughter Liz... too bad but it was so special!

Banjo is NOT naughty... He's just too cute to be naughty... I'm sure it was an accident when the balls came out of that bowl...

What do you expect, Mama??? IF you were a kitty and Mama had a Christmas tree full of delicious birdies, WELL---that's just too much for a kitty....

OH Catherine... I love your tree... Gorgeous!
Hugs,
Betsy

That is a lot of temptation for one cat to handle. As for the last bit, I say he was just trying to help you out with the decorating. I think his arrangement is quite attractive :)

BeadedTail said...

Banjo, it's not your fault if you try to put your toy away and other things fell out. We know if you hand thumbs you would have picked them all up and put them away! We like that you gave the bitey to that nasty water bottle!

Your tree is BEAUTIFUL!!!
And the spray bottle works for us, as well as some anti-chew stuff we got, and thankfully our tree has gone untouched so far :o)

Love your tree Catherine!
I remember when my one cat was kitten he would climb it!
Sadly I lost my boy Tuesday night.
I have a rocking house that I put under the tree every year and for some reason he always attacked it!
Maybe I won't put it out this year..too many memories right now.

Banjo is so funny! This is a great Christmas story. The look on Banjo's face starring at the red ornaments is just priceless! LOL!!!

He's just showing his decorating style :) Even naughty Banjo is ADORABLE!!

Forever Foster said...

Oh my goodness, your tree is BEAUTIFUL!!! We only have the top two thirds of our tree decorated. Fui likes to swat the ornaments off and watch them go 'pop', so it's safer that way!

Well.....there certainly is a LOT of temptation there for a cat, however having a catnip toy in with the Christmas balls, that must have been a moment of Christmas joy for Banjo! Don't be too hard on him Mommy! BTW... your xmas tree is gorgeous!

Catherine said...

Too much temptations for him! birds and feathers! but your white christmas tree is beautiful!

Kat_RN said...

Maybe sweet Banjo just wanted to put his favorite thing someplace special.

Christmas trees are grand cats toys are they not? At least that is the word from our feline family. **giggle**

A gorgeous tree indeed Catherine!

Considering the temptation presented by that gorgeous tree, I think Banjo showed a great deal of self-restraint. If he keeps decorating like this, he might earn his own show on the HGTV network. :)

BumbleVee said...

Well, come on...that's the nip pillow isn't it? He can't be held responsible for his actions after a few sniffs and a lick of that ! Not fair at all..

Romeo said...

Ah Banjo - you ARE quite the designer! I cannot believe your Mom didn't get it. Sheesh. Purrhaps next time if you go a bit over the top, er, say with three catnip toys in the ball bowl, she might get it.

Now with regard to the tree and the tempatations.....DUDE! I cannot believe you are taking the butt-water for a twig or an ornament?!! Meowllo? The birds - GO. FOR. THE. BIRDS! Hey, if you're gonna go through the carwash, might as well make it worth your while......just saying.

Purrs! Glad to see that you are enjoying your holidays!

Hi again!
Thanks for commenting on my Fundraising for Cat Protection Society post! Just wanted to let you know of an update with my fundraising page - I've decided to give people more incentive to donate by doing 2 giveaways. The fundraising page will be active for 6 months so at the end of the first 3 months I'm going to draw all the donors out of a hat and they will win their choice of anything from my Etsy store (there will be even more cool art and apparel in there soon too!). At the end of the 6 months I'll do it again :o)Just wanted to inform you of the update, and thanks again for visiting The Purr Diaries!!!
