They Are All The Same

no matter the size of the paws
no matter the length of the claws
a cat is a cat
and that is that

a Mountain Lion at the Calgary Zoo

enjoying the sun
ignoring the humans
and taking a cat nap

yup...
that seems about right...

Indeed. They are much closer to a mountain lion than a dog would ever be to a wolf. This napping thing all day was my lesson for retirement. :)

I love love big cats and this one is absolutely beautiful, so happy laying in the grass and sun. I am glad to see this in a zoo, as it bothers me when they are in captivity. this looks like a great place to be

Yes, that's about it, all right! :-)

I hope the enclosures are large ones. I always do feel so sorry for innately wild animals stuck in zoos. It's two-sided, of course--many species soon won't exist outside of zoos and they're great for educating the public. But I wonder how we'd feel, not able to choose our own destinies. (Well, perhaps we humans don't and only like to think we do.)

I LOVE Mountain Lions!! I remember one year for Christmas my dad bought me a life size stuffed mountain lion toy. I even carried it with me to college. Eventually after I got married and had to move several times it was time to get rid of it. I gave it to another cat lover! :)

I love watching the big cats! They are so beautiful and are very much like our not so big cats at home!

Dearest Caolyn,

Lovely photos and indeed, a cat is a cat. We can learn a lot from them for keeping our stress levels down!
Finaly I caught up with all the writing and administration so I can visit some bloggers again. One always pays dearly for being away for 16 days!'
Love to you,

Mariette

We get some of those big kitties around here on occasion. They have lots of deer to chase in my neck of the woods, so they usually don't bother the humans in the neighborhood.

What an amazing animal, Catherine, great photos !

For some reason your post reminds me of the quote, "God made the cat in order that humankind might have the pleasure of caressing the tiger." Have you ever thought of that when you pet your precious Banjo?

wooooooow! Beautiful. KEEP A NICE DAY!

Jaime said...

So true.
It's amazing how much they are the same as a house cat.... same mannerisms, same everything... except size. I'm so scared I'm going to run into a cougar on the mountain I climb in the mornings. We have sightings around my neighbourhood more often than makes me comfortable. But, they are so beautiful, aren't they?
