A Weekend With a Mission

I have but one mission this weekend...

to get a photo of this sweet Nuthatch
taking sunflower seeds out of my hand.

He did it once last Sunday
but I was not quick enough with my camera.

I hope you have something
just as exciting planned for your weekend... ;)

Boy do you have patience. I don't think could keep my four legsstilllong enough to get a bird to land within 20 feet of me let alone have it sit on my paw.

Can't wait to see the picture

That sounds like a perfectly lovely mission. Much better than my "mopping the floors" mission.

Oh dear...to hold a nuthatch would be absolutely delightful! I do love their "squeak toy" voice.

Wishing you a very special weekend!

What a gorgeous blog and its esthetic. We share much in common including being Canadian(I live in the US now.) We're bracing ourselves for the tail end of hurricane Irene this weekend near NYC. Our mom wrote an article for weather emergencies and pets today at our blog.
You might also enjoy my other blog the Boomer Muse. Have a beautiful weekend!

Dearest Catherine,

That is quite a lovely mission! I love it when that happens. Once I managed to tame a red-haired (versus our usual gray...) squirrel and it ate out of my hand, I could cuddle it and I managed to have it come up the steps and into our veranda for breakfast! Mom & Dad could not believe their eyes when we sat adjacent of a squirrel, a mockingbird and a brown thrasher that I'd all tamed. Dad thought he was still not awake... In The Netherlands, such a densely populated country that is impossible. But we live in harmony with nature and that means HAPPINESS! Have a lovely weekend friend!

Wow! That would be so cool! I hope he's not too camera shy. Just knowing he ate out of your hand is amazing! I always love seeing different birds from other parts of the world. Just staying inside trying to stay cool this weekend. :-)

I love nuthatches. I love the little beep beep sound they make as the walk up and down the trees. :) I hope you succeed in getting his photo. I would like to see that!

Oh, brilliant, Cat! Do you have a remote? Sounds harder than catching the butterflies swaying on the flowers in a light breeze - THAT's impossible - I can't wait to see how you do this one!=]
