Sheep in Wolf's Clothing

A big fat green caterpillar decided to
make itself at home on my
front doorstep yesterday.

 In it's defence
there is a 'welcome' ornament
sitting at the front door.

 And even though
I consider this to be
an 'ugly bug',
not to worry,
I did not harm it.

I believe it will be
turning into
a big beautiful

I hope it sticks around
for the transformation.

"Pretty is something you are born with.
But beautiful is an equal opportunity adjective."

P.S. Thanks for all the ideas below.  I am going to give some of them a try! ;)

Nice pics, but the one bug I am terrified of, are moths. But I'm sure it will be a beautiful moth in the end.

My sister and I were just talking Thursday about the one she saw on her lawn furniture. Yesterday, a cocoon was in it's place. We're anxious for the unavailing!!

I hope you get to see it as a moth! I bet that Welcome sign is like an obstacle course for that little caterpillar.

In that first picture it almost looks like it's a curled up leaf. He is sort of ugly but I bet the lady caterpillars think he's super hot. Love that welcome sign

Wow, it looks such a huge caterpillar!! Your Welcome ornament is pretty. Maybe the caterpillar is feeling welcomed there :-) I hope it sticks around, too, so that it can show you its beauty when it transforms!

I hope he sticks around for you, too! I would love to see those photos! Just did a quick catchup - I'm afraid here summer would be captured as a jarful of dust, it's so dry. And if you've found a way to get your stars twinkling again, please let me know - I feel the same way!

I would never harm a spider or a caterpillar. One is useful and the other might be something beautiful one day. Now if we could only combine the two... :)

Caterpillars are highly revered here at my house--sort of like tadpoles. They just represent change to me--and new beginnings. Embrace the caterpillar, Catherine! Shake all 50 of his little hands and wish him well!

Óh my Goodness. He is not cute but do love your welcome sign and guess he did too.
I have the big fat yellow and black furry ones. Not sure what he will bloom into.

The caterpillars seem especially active right now. This one will turn into a real beauty!

Its beautiful shade of green is just a prelude to the colours that shall follow once it completes its cycle...
We have a chef at the local Niagara College that has a luncheon prepared entirely with bugs. Yummy right!
Have a great week.

Ah, well... with a welcoming sign like that, you for sure asked for it :-)) I believe I captured an image of his cousin and my hand a few months back. I spotted at HUGE moth on our terrasse a while back and I took a photo with my hand placed next to it just to give a sense of the size. His size almost gave me a tickling sensation whilst I held my hand next to him - not the average size of months I've been used to in my life :-) A little bit scary but pretty spectacular. Hope he stays around for you to marvel at his wingspan!
Hugs,
xo

Well...you do have that "Welcome" sign...so one cannot discriminate on who shows up at the door!

The caterpillar couldn't have staged itself better! I love the top photo with it draped over the 'l'. Well done!

Cheers!

But they are such a lovely shade of green! And apparently very smart... he knew just where he was welcome.
