Jar of Winter

Anyone else hot?

The humidex was up to 42c (107F) yesterday.

I broke down and took out my "jar of winter"
that I stashed in my freezer in February.
I knew it would come in handy this summer.

Aren't you wishing now that you had bought some
when I was selling it back then?

I can't explain how good that snow felt
melting on my hot feet!

It melted so fast...

but oh the joy
while it lasted.

Heavenly!

Isn't it amazing
how something you loathed so much
just a short 5 month ago
can bring you such joy and happiness today?

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Speaking of happiness...

A big thank you to Deb from Just Cats
for the sweet little dish
Banjo and I won off her blog.

It arrived safe and sound
and Banjo and I love it!

Hey Mister!
You just had a snack!
No need to put the bitey on Deb's
pretty card she sent us!

Deb is a fellow Canadian (Ontario)
and runs a 'in home cat care' business.
How fun is that?

Thanks again Deb!
The little dish is even cuter in real life!

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

And not to worry friends,
the story of Pete and Stanley
will be continued on the weekend.  ;)

Happy Tuesday!

Keep cool!

A jar of winter is a fun and creative idea! But even with this energy-sapping heat, none of us is wishing for winter in any form. :-D

LoVe it! I used to do this … and you've inspired me to make sure I do this coming winter. Funny thing, every MidSummer I capture a bottle of summer air and sunshine … to have on hand for those blue winter days!

I'll be doing one of those jars this winter Catherine, what a neat idea. I think I'll do one for summer too, when I'm longing for the heat during long freeze!

Hi Catherine, Your "Jar of Winter" does look wonderful --especially on a hot, summer day/evening.... Like you said, we hated winter when we had it, and now we yearn for some!!!!! ha ha

Congrats to Banjo for winning some treats...

Well now I see the value of the jar of winter. Tell me though how do you prepare a jar of summer to be opened when we are buried under several feet of snow?
Cute cat dish. I bet the food tastes better served on that

Horribly hot here too in NY, and will be for the next several days. Good excuse to just kick back and relax a bit!

Only you can make snow look inviting!! I dunno, I'm still recuperating from all that snow we got this year. Even though it is very hot here, I don't want to think snow just yet.

I do love the idea of saving some though!!

Hearing about those high temps where you are and Ontario makes me glad I'm here. So I will stop complaining but maybe next Christmas I'll put in an order for some snow from you!!!

Love the cat dish...I follow Deb's blog too!
I am getting caught up on the adventures of Pete and Stanley. I'm rooting for Pete but don't tell Stanley!

You are so funny! I saved the hailstones that ruined our roof last year. I hadn't thought about getting them out to cool down with. It finally got warm here too. Last week it was in the 70's, yesterday it was 101! Too bad I'm stuck inside sick. UGH!

Great post, Catherine! I'm so glad I stopped in today. :)

Please could you send some of that heat over here? Even just half that temperature would do...

British weather at it's best - kid's Summer holidays are starting & so the weather turns wet, windy & cold!

I have no idea what it's like to experience such heat - would love to try though...

Kay :)

I sure will remember to do this coming winter if and when we have snow as its a rarity here in the south. That looks so refreshing, that just reminds me I have an ice crusher from the 1950's. Ice....here I come.

I adore your blog, so uplifting, I hope you don't mind if I come visit later.

GOD bless and keep you all safe.
Stay cool.
