You've Come a Long Way Banjo!

Sometimes I forget how big Banjo was
when he was 30lbs.

So the fact that he is now down to 17lbs
(as of yesterday's vet appointment weigh in)
and can jump onto the kitchen counter
constantly...

to sniff at an open window
and watch the birds, rabbits and people going by

I really should be happy for him
and pleased that he is so much healthier... right?
Instead of always giving him heck
for being up on the kitchen counter.

Banjo got a clean bill of health yesterday
and his vet Beth told me to increase his food a little bit
to start stabilizing his weight.

Keep up the good work my sweet Banjo!

Bravo! So happy to hear that Banjo's Wellness Visit went splendidly.

Catherine, never on a picnic? Deary me...grab a blanket and share a picnic basket indoors on a rainy day...it is ever so much fun!

for some unknown reason, this post made me get tears in my eyes, thanks for the post, the tears were of joy for you and banjo. he looks great.. when my boys who are now in their 40's used to spill things and make a mess, i gave them heck. then the grandaughter came along and did the same thing and i realized it is only stuff and if it is spilled or messed up clean it up and enjoy the fact you have them and same goes for banjo.

Good for you for putting up with his meowing for food. I'm sure that happened. I have a sad story about our late cat and being overweight. Banjo looks great, and cuddly too. Like the way the fake birdie is watching him.

Yay! We're so happy for Banjo! He is so handsome and such a sweet boy! He is obviously a very good boy to leave all those things on the counter alone too because we would have cleared them off in no time flat!

Oh, he looks GREAT!! What a weight loss!!

I've learned the more fuss I make about the counters, the more they want to be there. Now I don't mind and they don't go up there too often. And like you--if it gets them to move and jump a bit, they get the green light.

I've found that Hobbes really likes the laser pointer for a good workout. Have you tried that too?

Dearest Catherine,

Don't know the history of Banjo but his weight made my eyes pop. Ours weigh from between 7 and 14 pounds and that is big, I thought... tiny Tiggy-Tiger who has been for a long time a six-pounder looks mini compared to Banjo. BUT our youngest, from the Humane Society in North Carolina is as obese as they come. And what can I do? She is tiny but her belly looks like she's going to explode. When we go shopping I have to put up everything or she will snatch it and tear it open. We learned the hard way by not having a coffee or tea after coming back from the big city shopping (stocking for about 3 weeks)... things are not safe if she's around.
Hope Banjo is healthy now and we have to love them as they are; they're all as unique as human beings. Even the five siblings we have are all different!

Lots of love,

Mariette

Hooray for a slimmer trimmer Banjo. How could you possibly get mad at such sweet face like that.

Great work Banjo, you look so trim and slim now and you must be so much easier to pick up for cuddles.
Here's a hint for you Banjo now you can jump much more easily. Keep your exploring of the kitchen counter tops till night time and they'll never know. XX

OMG Banjo you were quite the chubbo!!
He has got the cutest head!!!
Acoya doesn't go on the counters but at our old house he loved to lay on top of the fridge! I made my hubby a cake one day and because i was going out i put it on top of the fridge. Well when i got home from work there was tiny paw prints right across it!

From these photos Catherine your kitchen looks so bright and pretty!!!

Happy May 24!!

I had no idea that Banjo was such a 'portly' cat at one time! Doesn't it make you feel good when they've reached a weight loss goal? Now if I could.... ;-)))

I hope you're having a good weekend Catherine!! Great weather here in Virginia that I hope is in your direction too!

Lovely post Catherine I think Banjo is the biggest loser Well done Banjo.

Well done, both of you! It's so sad to see obese animals. Banjo looks quite lovely now, and I'm sure he must feel a great deal better too. Now to apply that same sort of discipline to myself......

I stopped to send you my hug, Banjo!! I know cats don't like hugs that much - my Hugo complains to dad that I hug him and mess his furr up - but you do deserve a hug for doing so good!

I'm happy for all of you, Catherine. Give him a little break, when he goes on the counter... LOL !!
