Thought For The Day ~ Be Kind

WikiHow has a whole section explaining "How To Be Kind".  While it seems ridiculous that we need to be taught what it means to be kind, there really is some good thoughts and ideas written about kindness and politeness.  Included is a short, very inspirational video filled with wisdom from many people.

One never knows how their words and actions can effect someone else's day.

one word of kindness
one act of kindness
so simple
so full of power

There are days when I think no one has learned this lesson, but then I can turn it around on myself and think that perhaps I too could use a little reminder on how to be kind.

The good thing about a new day is that there is a always an opportunity to do better.

That was a very nice...and gentle reminder. We sure all be kind, always! I'm kind of tired, does that count?

I was just thinking about random acts of kindness last night, while in the shower, actually. Wondering why we tend to do those at the feel-good time of Christmas and let it go for the rest of year.

Even a genuine smile or compliment can make someone's day -- it doesn't take much to be kind.

I like this post. We always have an opportunity to be kind. Not with just a new day, but with each next moment. Lovely photo!

I remember in High School church youth group, our pastor handed out a list of things that we could do to be kind. It's funny but I needed it. I was drawing a blank. It had everything from scratching a dog behind the ears to writing an encouraging note to doing someone else's chore for them. I always had intentions of ticking them off one by one, but, Cat, it's so sad - I hardly did any of them.=( I haven't forgotten the principle, though, and, now that I'm older, I have the discipline. So! I stopped and scratched the puppies behind their ears, this morning.=D

Your photo is BEAUTIFUL! Good things come to those who wait! SPRING! (I'm all smiles - what a beautiful day!)

Love to you, friend!

It makes us feel good when our kindness has a positive effect on others, but it is easy to become bogged down with "stuff" & not be so caring... Thanks for the reminder!

Lovely post Catherine! It's a wonderful reminder to be kind even on days when I just may not feel like it but I know I always feel better when I do.

that is a gorgeous picture. I think I needed the reminder about being kind. People at work are driving me nuts and I've been less than nice these last few days

A lovely reminder to us all my friend!
BTW, I read your last post and just love your garden...I don't see any weeds! Such a pretty back yard. Well, I had big plans to get out and do some yard work on the weekend, but by the time Monday came it had started to rain, so that was that! Today, Wednesday still raining, and sit is supposed to rain till Saturday. So no weed pulling for me yet. Although I know they will be waiting for me when I finally get out there!

I could have used a little kindness this afternoon after dealing with a member on the phone. I may never see my act of kindness rubbed off on her, but I can always hope. Sometimes I'm tired thinking "well they might have had a rough life" to give a reason behind unkindness in others. Perhaps they could create a highschool credit for kindness? Thanks for the reminding words, I will be especially kind tomorrow.

People these days in this country have lost alot of their KINDNESS. People are so busy --running from one project to the next that they don't take time to speak to others, or just smile at someone else. Being KIND is very important. Great post, Catherine.

Betsy

Great thought to start the day. Being kind does not always come naturally to me especially when I am out shopping! :) Beautiful photo.

Valid and fair reminder.

We may think we don't need a lesson on what it means, but so often we are involved in our own worries and concerns that we forget to be kind.
I've done it.

Thank you!

Dear Catherine,

What a beautiful (and very useful) reminder for all of us!! Sometimes it seems like being kind is oldfashioned, and nasty people who are always angry are the ones who are cool...I totally disagree!! As they say...A smile should be mandatory!! :))

Hugs&Kisses!!!

It is sad that people are forgetting the power of kindness. Great reminder!

You know Catherine, it does seem silly to 'read' about being kind, but gosh, there are some people who NEED to read it! Seriously, why is it just not common anymore; breaks my heart; especially that we have to teach it to children; UGH!
good post...

VERY nice...
How different the world would be if we all tried harder to be kind to everyone we meet.

I agree; we all need a nudge to try to be a little kinder to and more patient with others once in awhile.
