First Day of Spring??? Really?

Yesterday was the 1st Day of Spring!
Could you tell?
Not here you couldn't.
These Canadian Geese flew home a few weeks...
errr... months early I think.
Poor things!

But on the bright side...
how beautiful is this
Horned Owl that Wayne and I saw
yesterday morning?

Owls are one of my most favourite birds.
What a rare treat to see one out and about.
S/he wouldn't let me get too close!

We have heavy snowfall warnings out for
Southwest Saskatchewan today.
Up to 25 cm. (10 inches)

First day of spring....
yeah right...

That owl is likely already nesting. Here in the "banana belt" of far southeast Minnesota the snow is mostly gone and its been raining for two day straight. Perhaps the warmer is heading your way.... :)

That owl is amazing!

For our first full day of Spring, we're currently having big, fat flakes of snow swirling around in a frenzy--and they're sticking to the ground. So depressing!

I have seen geese, though, and lots of robins.

Great photos. We had snow too this morning but it won't stay. Longing for the grass here. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x5

The owl is fabulous! Sorry you're having a snowy spring but surely it won't be long before your weather catches up( although I don't expect that we've seen the last of winter here either!)
Have a happy Monday, Catherine and wrap up warm :)
ps. we get lots of your Canada geese overwintering here- always a bit sad to see them go.

Hi Catherine,
Thanks for your sweet greeting on Gods Little People.
What sweet images you've captured (yes, those poor geese!) but the owl is amazing. I love owls too. We have a house in my native country Denmark (currently live in Greece) right next to the woods. When I sat late at night with my creative work I used to love sitting in the quiet of the night listening to the call and response between two horn owls. Such a gorgeous sound!
Wishing you a lovely day - and take care in the snow!

OH My Gosh... How long do your winters last up there, Catherine? I enjoy winter (HERE)--but am always ready for spring to begin in March... I think I would get depressed IF I lived where winter stuck around so long... Oh Well. Hopefully, you are USED to it...

Sorry about your latest snow.
Hugs,
Betsy

They do look a bit lonely, don't they?
It's not very springlike here in Toronto either, although there's no snow on the ground. They're calling for some tomorrow night, so I'll probably have to pull my boots on again.

Thanks for the chuckle. We have a little snow heading this way and a friend in New England reports the same, albeit not quite as much as your predictions. I guess we're still in the "comes in like a lion" stage.

Hah, those geese are saying, 'What the heck? I should have stayed in NC!' :)

I love the photos of the owl; just gorgeous...and so tell me, is it getting a tad warmer for you? It just goes to show that some terms are all relative; spring means something different here then it does in your area...

I hope you have a wonderful day!

I just have internet back this afternoon from last Thursday knocked out by a storm, another snowstorm today as well so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays on now!

Okay, sweet Catherine, now I really begin to see and understand how colddddd it is in your corner. I did kick Mrs. Spring just a sec ago, I told her to hurry up and rush to the north.
Hang in there, She will arrive ^_~
Much love xxxxx

You got some great shots, and that owl is amazing! I think those poor little geese are just as excited for spring to really start as you are! If it helps, I'm still wearing a sweatshirt today...still cold and windy! :-)

nice shot of the Owl. Very good photography. Thanks, Cat.

Aw sorry to hear about that snow. We did have a little taste of spring but tomorrow it's back to coldness and snow is in the forecast.
Lucky you to spot that owl.

There is that wee patch of brown grass sticking out, pally. Spring IS on it's way. Really. Hang on!

The owl is beautiful! How wonderful you got to see it! I've never seen an owl outside of captivity but I would love too.

Hope your spring shows up soon!

The wildlife is coming out here in Manitoba too, and the snow is moving this way tomorrow. I am soooooo depressed about this. I have no words to write out this sadness setback. I think I'll sleep on it and pray it stays ALL in the southern parts. I may just sound like a crazy woman on my blog tomorrow.

Love the owl and the Canada geese but your snowy first day of spring doesn't sound much fun. XX

Oh my goodness, she looks so beautiful in flight.
But, erm...if I were prey, I would not be sticking around to view that fierce look in her eye.
