You just have to picture it....

There is no photo I can take that can show you a windchill of -44c (-47F).
You just have to picture it.

Not being able to draw breath when you are outside.
Your car already running for 1/2 hour but it's still cold when you get inside.
Driving on tires that feel like they are square.
Exposed skin freezing in less than 1 minute.

I should be thankful.
It's -48 (-54F) in Regina this morning.
But surprisingly I am not.
I am cold, whiny, wimpy and feeling sorry for myself.

I live in Southwest Saskatchewan
not Anchorage Alaska.
Though I wish I did as it is
actually a tropical -1c (+30F) there today.

Global warming....
give me a break....

Signed,
Frozen in Saskatchewan

Yeah for Global Warning... Our country made such a huge deal a year or two ago about Global Warning.. Scared people--and got tons of our tax money from our Govt. to 'study' it.... GADS!!!!! NOTICE that we haven't heard a word here from them this year!!!!! ha ha

So sorry that it's THAT cold up there. I have never been anywhere where the temps are THAT low. I couldn't imagine... Please stay safe, Catherine.
Hugs,
Betsy

I wish I could send you some warm, sunny Yuma weather. You could just take a break and come to visit. But for now, I send you warm hugs and kisses. There should be a law that when it is that cold, no one should have to go to work but just stay indoors and keep cozy warm. I love you!!!

My dad is in the Vancouver area. I frequently think of relocating to the west coast, but there's the whole job/income/cost of living issue. And the potential BIG earthquake. LOL.

If I could send you some warm weather, I would, but it's cold here too (just not quite THAT cold)!

It's cold here too and our dogs don't like to go out for more than a minute! Our latest acquisition, Millie, will hold it for 14 hrs then run, squat and in really fast!! She will not go out last thing at night or first thing in the morning!!

Banjo will snuggle to keep you warm. I'm still not complaining, I will once the heat comes!

Warm thoughts to you Catherine from too hot, too sunny Australia. Yesterday was a very hot 40c degree day. I stayed home with the air con. on and all verandah blinds down to keep Charlotte and Emily cool. And myself too of course. XX

You just go ahead and be as whiny and wimpy as you want, I know I would too if it was that cold here. After reading your temperatures I feel guilty complaining about ours :)

Man that sounds so cold... I could be wrong but I think I see a hot Toddy in your future..

I'd be feeling whiny and wimpy too because I don't like the cold at all. I hope you all stay safe and warm and hope the bunnies and kitties and doggies outside are all okay too.

It's cold here Catherine, we're at the start of a blizzard right now. I want spring, warmth, and thawed bones! Stay warm ok?

Lin said...

Oh, pally, I feel your pain. We are in the midst of getting 24 inches tonight. Ugh. I'm sort of done with this winter.

I totally understand! It is freezing here already & tomorrow it's going to be -40 windchill too! I can't warm up when I can hear the wind blowing so hard outside that I can't get the dog to go out in it! Sad...

I hope it warms up soon for us both!!
Warm Hug,
Coreen xoxoxo

Okay Catherine, I will NOT whine anymore when it's 40 degrees outside. UGH!!! How do you do it? and I am serious. I do NOT like the cold and get whiny, grumpy and wimpy so I can't even imagine...my idea would be to hibernate and not come out until spring...
take good care Lady!

Oh Hon-ey......
I am oh so not jealous of you right now! Oh no - not one teeny bit. I'm so sorry for your chill - right through the bones I bet. Hug that Banjo extra tight!!!

LOL, you sound just like my husband! He just walked in totally covered in ice (even his mustache was solid frozen) after trying to unbury our cars. All you can hear in our street is the sound of shovels and crushing ice/snow. I sure hope that groundhog (the one who predicted Spring will be early this year) is right! XO

hi catherine...

i never be somewhere with temperature lower than 10C! it's always warm enough in my town (average temp 27C)
i cant imagine how cold in saskachewan.. bbbrrr...

hope banjo can help u to get warm! :)

I have always wondered what that kind of cold would feel like...painful, I bet. So, if you are outside, with a toque on your head and you are totally bundled up, you could still get frostbite on your cheeks in one minute? Yikes!
