Love is...

Love is...funny.

The Setting: our TV station provider did an upgrade a few days ago. There is a new light on the receiver box that won't shut off even when the unit is turned off. Hubby and I laying in bed, watching TV about 9 p.m. last night....

Wayne: "I hate that blue light. It's so bright. We can land planes in our bedroom."
Me: "It's not that bright."
Wayne: "It lights up the whole room!"
Me: "As if."
Wayne: "It does so! You can do hand puppets on the wall it's so bright."
Me: "Well let's see one."
Wayne: "See what?"
Me: "A puppet show, put on a puppet show for me."
Wayne turns off the TV and the receiver box. There is a faint glow of blue from the light.
Wayne: "Well... it's brighter when the backyard lights turn off at 10 p.m."
Me: "Whatever."

4 a.m. I wake up. The whole room is lit up in a blue glow. Crap... that light is bright. I take a DVD case and prop it up against the receiver to block the light. The case slips down and falls to the floor waking Wayne up. Oops!

Wayne: "Would you like that puppet show now?"

The key to marriage?

You both need a really good sense of humor...

"You can not stay mad at somebody who makes you laugh.
It's as simple as that."
~ Jay Leno

Love you Stanley!

Thanks for the laugh! I agree, without a sense of humour marriage would be pretty darn difficult. Laughing is one of the joys of life.
Can't stop giggling about the puppet show :)

It's good to be able to laugh together, isn't it? You know we do at our house--it's what keeps us sane.

We had a light like that too--put a piece of electrical tape over the light. It works like magic.

I also agree with you, Catherine. Laughing together is very important. Now, what are you going to do about that blue light?

It's the one piece of advice I write on wedding cards. If you can't laugh at something together by the end of the day, your toast.

Great story! It's these small moments in a marriage that we all remember!

Hahaha! That's funny! What I'll never understand is how men can think of such funny things to say at 4am! My brain isn't even functioning and yet my husband can throw out zingers like that if the cats do something to wake us up so I'll lay there giggling the rest of the night! Love is certainly funny!

Boy do you ever need a good sense of humor. It's better if both of you have one but it can work if only one of you do too....lol
That sounds like a conversation we had here. Our light does go out on the receiver but I kept forgetting to turn it out. Didn't bother me but my husband acted like it was a flood light

Lovely post, Catherine, it made me smile !
That bright blue light is everywhere these days, we have also one on our receiver box, annoying, but we are used to it now.
The red hearts are beautiful !

That's too funny Catherine, what a cute cute retelling of the evening!

Brilliant, what a great reenactment of what true love and a happy marriage is really like:)

And I do understand the issue with all of those small electronic lights that seem like nothing until you are trying to sleep. All of a sudden it seems as if a UFO has landed in the center of the bedroom!

Debbie

I hate my alarm clock for that reason...it's turned down, but it's still so bright! You are right though, and it's so fun to be able to share and laugh about something like that with your husband. :-)

What a good idea to put on a puppet show, I have to rely on black felt to cover those annoying glowing lights.

That light would drive my DH crazy too. Not me though, I can pass out pretty much anywhere regardless of how much light there is (which also drives him crazy ;o)

So true and lovely pics. Hubby and I always share a good laugh. At least blue lights is not supposed to disturb our normal sleep patterns. IO need a night light (at my age!!!) and have a blue one in the room.

I so agree!! One tiny pinprick of a light can ruin my sleep totally.
I also agree with the adage that you can't be mad if they make you laugh!!

he he...... what a guy! love it....

and... I totally agree with the ambient light we have to endure ... all of those silly electronic gadgets need a "lights off" switch. I have to sleep in the tv room when we have company sometimes.... cuz I give up the big bedroom for them....and man.... lights everywhere. Absolutely does remind me of an airport too! Blue, reds, greens and whites..oh, and...even yellow come to think of it.... ... so much light! I need an eye mask to block it out... closing my eyes doesn't even help..... arrghhhh

Puppet shows or strip tease, please ... either one will work for me..... oh, alright ...just read to me and stroke my hair.... maybe I will drop off to sleep....

I believe Sweetie and I had the very same conversation one night only I was the one complaining about the blue light! What's with those supersonic brights??
We put the remote in front of it to block the rays!
too funny!

I thought it was just me that blue light drives me batty! I throw a shirt or towel over it.

Cute story...you two are so great together.

I bought an alarm clock once that had green lit numbers, instead of red. That thing drove me nuts...was so bright! I swear it kept me up at night. And I thought it would be better than red....I now have a red one.
