It's not so bad...

I look out the window this morning
another dump of snow
day 4? day 5?
I've lost track
4 more days of snow
predicted in the forecast

It puts me in a grumpy mood until...

I remind myself about the floods
and volcano eruptions
happening around the world this morning
and I think to myself...

all this snow?
It's not so bad...

Warm thoughts for those
that are truly fighting
the real wrath of
Mother Nature...

Good Morning Catherine! We didn't get the snow that was predicted, but we are dealing with the cold and wind instead. Like you I try to see the positive in that we aren't dealing with sad and catastrophic loss because of Mother Nature.

I hope you've had a good week!! Stay warm and safe when you're out! :-)

True words spoken my friend. Just snuggle up for the weekend and try to enjoy it. Here we have lots and lots of luke warm rain... but not nearly as bad as in all these flooded places around the world. I stay inside and make it a "cleaning weekend" :(
Thanks for your dear comment, it always means a lot to me.

Have a happy, happy weekend.

I think that we in Montreal have been lucky this year for snow (but of course, since I said that, we'll probably start getting big snow!).

Good thoughts out to everyone who has had battles with the weather this year!

So true about nature's havoc around the world. I am putting on some cross country skis today to enjoy all this snow. Who knows when it will disappear?

That's a healthy way to look at things and make the best of the day. 65 more days 'til Spring, Catherine. Doesn't sound that good, does it? Oh well, we carry one. Hugs to all and a scratch under the chin to Banjo. Deb=^..^=x5

So true...we complain about our long crappy, cold winters, but I would rather put up with a few flakes and sub zero temps than deal with the terrible floods that are occurring in Australia. Those poor people.
Anywhoo...have a great weekend!

Oh, so sorry about all of your snow, I know you are sick of it! We are having lovely weather this weekend in the 60'sF! I will send some warmth you way. You can bet this summer while you are posting about your lovely garden and green, I will be crabby and hot in our triple, dry temps! LOL

I just remember my friends in Russia. Living in less than modern circumstances.. in buildings that are cold concrete and steel. Heating and electricity that is sporadic.. ...no warm water most days... and some days no water at all. And... they still have to pay rent that takes up most of their meagre $200 per month paycheque. Food... well... some days even if they have money to buy things...the shelves are so poorly stocked and the produce is so bad... they can't buy. If they get sick... a doctor must be bribed for service and hospitals.. scarey at best... they have to practically live there with the loved one to take care of them. They must bathe and feed them... because there is no nursing as we know it.
We, in this part of the world, are so fortunate it makes me feel guilty most days.. shovelling snow on a cold day is much better then having to drag a kid to day care over an hour away.. at a child's pace...in -40C because there are no buses..and nobody owns cars... oh, yeh.....we have it good. We are totally spoiled.....

I agree Catherine. It's horrible seeing what is happening around the world so I won't complain of our gloomy skies. I may not like it, but I'm not complaining! My thoughts are with those dealing with the devastations caused by Mother Nature.

After reading BumbleVee I really don't think any of us have any right to complain at all.

The floods in Australia are just catastrophic and all the other horrible things that are happening around the world. We are so lucky and most of the time, we complain...

Catherine,
you are so right; it's all in the perspective of what is going on...yeah, snow and ice is a pin, but I'd rather be dealing with those inconveniences than the floods or a lot of other disasters.
Thanks for putting that in our minds...
PS: I saw that you are reading House Rules by Jodi Picoult; a marvelous book and gosh since I teach children with autism, it makes so much sense!
Let me know how you like it!

I sometimes think I am a terrible person because though I am so upset about the floods in Queensland my first thoughts are often for all the cats, dogs and native animals who don't understand what is happening.
The rest of us know this is a country of drought, floods and fire.

Wonderful reminder and attitude. Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Yes, you are absolutely right. In Brazil, more than 500 people died in the last few days because of too much rain that caused mud slides and floods.

This adds to the whole picture of a suffering world.

Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. I only wish I could offer you a cup of tea, or coffee, or juice - with cookies.

Have a great week-end!

You've made an excellent point. I'll agree with that and stop complaining about the snow we have here.

Betsy from Tennessee said...

Gee--isn't that the truth??? You and I can gripe about our weather --but we both have it made, compared to many places.

We did get out today to get some groceries and run some errands. The main roads were good and the back roads were fair.. It was nice to get out though.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

You're right, a little (ahem) snow is nothing compared to some of the natural disasters that are going on...

Stay warm, Catherine!

It's good to put things in perspective. Our mum was whining about the rain the other day, then turned on the news and remembered that we really don't have it that bad. We hope you are keeping toasty warm in that snow!

P.S. The pictures on your header are stunning!
