Word of the Day - Perspective

It's pouring
POURING
rain today
the wind is blowing
and it's cold
add into this
snow
yes...
you read that correctly
SNOW
for tomorrow and Sunday
I could cry
and pout
about the injustices of it all
or I could realize that because of
the weather
no yard work
can be done
perhaps it's even too miserable out
to dust
or vacuum
there is really nothing left to do
except make a big mug of
hot chocolate
grab a couple of cookies
a new magazine
and curl up under a blanket
for my Friday afternoon off
therefore
I suspect
the whole weekend
will result in
much of the same...
It's really all in your perspective...

Hope you have a cozy lovely weekend!

Rescued Color

I saved these two tulips from the snow the other day.
They are sitting happily in my kitchen window! :)

Find Your Green Today

If Mother Nature is not agreeable
and it seems like she will not let up
on neither the snow or the cold
defy her
find your own green today
any way you can
make your own happiness...

Change of Plans & A Couple of Awards

Yesterday, along with finishing up my "Saturday To Do's", I was able to enjoy sitting outside for awhile. Banjo did some eating of the green grass...{and I'm sure as you cat lovers know, that came back to haunt me at about 3 am this morning...yuck...}
Green grass and sun...yes...a most enjoyable afternoon...
And then we woke up to this...
Snow snow snow...sigh...
And so today, Banjo and I will be doing a lot of the above today!

But before I snuggle back under the covers to watch a movie.....
I want to acknowledge two sweet bloggers and their lovely blogs!

The other day, I had received another Kreativ Blogger Award from Bad Penny from
The Hen House and then a Beautiful Blogger Award from Luiza over at Feelings and since they are both about sharing 7 unknown things about yourself, I thought I would combine them.

So here it goes:
1. I have 16 white shirts...{you can't have too many white shirts in my opinion!}
2. I can sew on a button ~ if I have to ~ but otherwise, I can't sew ~ nor do I wish to learn how to sew.
3. I spend $3.30 a day at Tim Horton's on their steeped tea {2 - XL teas a day}. Basically over $100 month. Seems ridiculous doesn't it?
4. I love brown beans with cream cheese on white bread sandwiches, but I only eat them about once a year as I am pretty sure they aren't too healthy.
5. My record for laying in the bathtub reading is 2 hours and 15 minutes...yes...I was a prune when I got out.
6. If I was really rich, I would have liposuction on my arms.
7. I was recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my hands. Some days they really hurt {love Tylenol Arthritis medication!} and it worries me to think about how they are going to feel when I get older.

And with that, I pass this award on to any of you who wish to accept it ~ my lovely blogger friends!

Thank you again
Bad Penny & Luiza ~ you two are the sweetest!

I hope you have a cozy Sunday!

Happy Friday

breath out...relief
Friday is here once again
we spend so much time
wishing for time to quickly pass by

'hurry up Friday'
but then it is here
and in a blink of the eye
Sunday night is back upon us

I hope you use and enjoy
your weekend to it's fullest
I know I shall

Happy Friday Friends!

Happy Earth Day

We can make many excuses why it is a challenge for us to REduce REuse or REcycle... but we should all try to at least make some small changes. May I suggest one of the simplest ways to look after our planet...?

...like putting our garbage in a trash can rather than on the ground?!?!?!?!

I do NOT understand people that litter. I truly do not get it. The above is some of the 'nicer' garbage I took pictures of yesterday at my lunch hour. This is some of the stuff I saw but did not take pictures of: A dirty kleenex, old runners, diapers...

DIAPERS??? Are you kidding me??? (ummm... who ever you are that did this... does the term "Redneck" mean anything to you???)

Well...I could go on and on...but let me get back to the "happy" part of Earth day...

So have a most Happy Earth Day ~ and please try to do your part today! :)

Random Photos ~ Random Confessions

There's a few things I have to get off my chest.
I hope you don't mind me sharing my confessions with you.
Here it goes:

Confession # 1:
These are my favorite cookies at the moment. They are 'healthy' and 'good for you'...so I feel it's OK to eat 8 of them at a time.
Confession #2:
I hate yard work. While I love flowers and plants and all the little critters that come with owning a yard, I can not stand the work of it. If Wayne said right now "Let's sell our house and move into a condo without a backyard.", I could be packed by mid-night if I started right now.

Confession #3:
Don't tell my other lawn ornaments, but Puss n' Boots is one of my most favorite. I would find room for him on my patio in the new Condo. Some of the others would be sold at a garage sale....{shhhh...don't tell them...}

Confession #4:
My craft room is a mess at the moment. I crafted the other day and didn't have time to clean it up. Before I can start another project, I have to clean it up and get organized. I can't work in a mess. My creativity plummets if my crafts are not organized. Having anything disorganized is embarrassing to me. {If you look in my closet you will find my clothes on matching, evenly spaced hangers, hanging in 'rainbow' order...yes...I am a bit persnickety...I know...it's a sickness...} Cleaning up my craft room is on my 'to do' list for this coming weekend.

Confession #5:
I hate cooking. I am a horrible cook. While I get in the mood to bake once in awhile and the results are usually yummy, cooking a meal is very stressful to me. This is my Poppy Seed Chicken and Fruit that I make at least once every two weeks. It has peaches and pears and sometimes I add in apples. It's actually pretty good. Kurtis hates it. Wayne and I love it. I make it on an evening Kurtis isn't going to be home
. This and cooking frozen chicken fingers with Kraft Dinner are the only two meals I make well.
Confession #6:
I usually wait too long to throw out dead flowers. I always feel guilty that they have given me so much beauty and then I dishonor them by throwing them into the garbage. I always wonder if it hurts their feelings. I think this one in particular still has a few more good days in it and can sit on my kitchen window sill for awhile longer. It's not so bad looking.

Confession #7:
I have lost hope that my "Spring in a TinCan" will ever amount to any flowers. But due to Confession #6, I can not bring myself to throw it out.

An End to a Lovely Weekend

Promise kept ~ Wayne finished my garden stand yesterday afternoon. I am using it to hide the hideous but highly necessary air conditioner unit. Within the next couple of months it will be full of beautiful flowers and garden knick~knacks. Thank you Stanley!

After his golf game this morning, Wayne took me on a drive. There were so many deer walking around the Research Station today. All shedding their winter coats. It appears that they too are convinced SPRING is really here. :)

Good Morning Spring

Mmmmmm.....SPRING...
I think you are truly here.
As Wayne heads off to his first round of golf for the season...
{errr...Stanley...there's that little issue of you not quite being finished
that little project you started for me...what's that you say?
you'll finish it this afternoon?...hmmmm...}

Kurtis heads off to work for the day
and I sit outside on my patio,
with my camera and my mug of tea
and thus my lovely spring/summer/fall morning tradition
begins once again.

Good Morning spring buds!
It is so wonderful to see you.
Hello sunshine ~ how I've missed you so.

Good Morning dear Robin!
Welcome back to my garden.
I hope you will enjoy your stay.

Good Morning sweet bunny!
I expect I will see you often in my garden once again this year.
While you are always welcome in my garden,
please be reminded to refrain from eating my expensive perennials...

Ahhh....tis going to be a most lovely day...

I hope you all have a most enjoyable weekend!

Thankful For The Little Things

Everyday
there is always so much to be thankful for
and it's always the little things
that get over looked...

Today
I am thankful for...

Banjo being born
9 years ago today
{though we do not celebrate until May 27
which is the day he came to live with us!}

I am thankful for April Showers
as they truly do
bring May flowers...

I am thankful for
my garden trinkets
that made it through the winter
even after laying beneath the snow for months

I am thankful for
green blades of grass
with drops of rain

I am thankful for
predictions of lovely weather
for Saturday
{hopefully Stanley can finish my garden project!}
I am thankful for
allergy medication

Small Window of Opportunity

I have a very small window of opportunity in-between when Hockey Season stops and Golf Season starts to get Wayne to do any major yard stuff. Factor in this time with the disagreeable weather, there is but a few days really. Wayne started a project for me on the one nice day of Easter weekend. I am hoping he is going to be able to get it done this coming weekend.
{Hmmmm....why must one's tongue so often be sticking out when they are working, thinking, creating?}
Careful there Stanley...don't cut anything important off...

So...any guesses at to what Wayne is building for me???

It's hard to stay positive...

It's hard to stay positive about spring with the weather we are getting
Rain...mixed with snow flurries...

But...I shall try...
I am positive that it is cold
I am positive that I am tired of wind
I am positive that I am tired of snow

Hmmm...does that count?

I promise that my post tomorrow will be of a truly more positive nature and it will NOT be about the weather! :)

Spring...Exit Stage Left

It appears that Mother Nature told Spring to "Exit Stage Left"...
Last night and this morning it was "Cue the wind"...
110 km wind gusts thank you very much
{that's about 70 mi per hour for non-metric friends}
Not enough?
Ok snow...let it rip!

sigh...

I sit at my computer listening to the wind whipping through the trees, trying to ignore the white stuff pinging against the window, thinking about partaking in a second cup of tea, my boys still sleeping, Banjo curled up beside me...

hmmm...

Life still looks pretty sunny here in Southwest Saskatchewan ~ no matter the weather outside!

Hope all is well with you ~ warmest wishes for a beautiful weekend! Even if the weather is not agreeable! :)

In Hopes of a Simple Smile

Some days I really can't think of anything funny, interesting or profound to say. So here's some photos of some ladybugs that seem to be in abundance lately.

And I know that once you've seen one ladybug you've seen them all...

Still...

I hope these ones make you smile today! :)

To get the job done...

In order to get the job done, in most cases,
it is best to start at the top....

and work your way down to the bottom.

Very good advice ~ yes?

At least it seemed to work well for Banjo
as he cleaned out the measuring cup
that I mixed french vanilla mousse in. :)

Happy Easter

I think as long as you are
'young at heart'
you should receive
a few treats
from the Easter Bunny...
don't you think?

Wishing
you a most
wonderful
EASTER
day!

Easter Memories

I remember the excitement of waking up Easter mornings, running out of my bedroom into the kitchen to find what Easter surprises were left for me during the night. On the kitchen table would be the following Easter treats:
~ A pink and white striped handled rubber skipping rope
~ A new outfit for school
~ A big candy filled chocolate egg
~ Gum

Oh the joy of that new skipping rope. Thwap thwap thwap as it slapped the ground outside.

{sigh}...

The simple joys of childhood...

I wish for you a wonderful memorable Easter weekend!
