My Promise ~ Sunday #2

Here I am,
the second Sunday of December
and as promised from
and continuing from Sunday #1 (Dec 5 post)
I accomplished two activities this week.

they took very little money,
and even less time,
but they come from my heart...

Gift #3:
Giving warm mittens, toques and scarves
to the Newcomer Welcome Centre.
Can you imagine leaving your home country
where it's +30c (+86F)
to find a better life in Canada,
and stepping off the plane
where it's -35c (-31F) or worse weather?
Some of these people come with nothing.
There are wee little ones, small children,
women and men.
Hopefully my gift of new items
will make someones life a little warmer!

(NOTE: I am working on a project this week
that adds on to this gift!)

Gift #4:
I took some Christmas baking to a friend
who had surgery last week.
She's on crutches and can't get around.
Turtle Brownies.
They were still warm when I delivered them.

I have a confession to make...
I kept a few brownies for me and my boys...

Well... I'm only human after all! ;)

"How do you say 'thank you' for sunshine or health,
for clear days or gentle rains,
for happiness, joy or love?
You say it by sharing what you have.
You say it by making the world a better place
in which to live."
~ Thomas D. Willhite

Watch for another "My Promise" post next Sunday night.

Have a beautiful week!

Peace on Earth

What a wonderful post. You not only are very giving but you are very creative with your ideas. I think giving mitts and hats is a wonderful thing to do. I bet you really enjoyed picking them all out for the families. Your brownies look yummy and who wouldn't love some home-made baking when they can't bake themselves. Great idea, again. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x5

How wonderful to read about the act of giving during the holidays instead of the consumerism the season has turned into. I'm new to your blog, but it's already one of my favorites!

What a lovely lady you are. We bet the mittens will not only keep the newcomers bodies warm, but their hearts too in knowing that there are kind welcoming people in their new community.

Your last promise post inspired us. We bagged up the toys in our cupboard that we've never played with, and cleared out the sealed bags of treats from our stockpile to give to the Santa Paws drive our vet is running. Thankyou for planting the seed :)

Being a Saskatchewan gal you know first hand the meaning of cold and why it is so important to have warm hats and mitts.
A perfect promise to make and keep.

Took me awhile to figure it out, but I've found the best way to "forget" about all your troubles and woes is to focus on someone else's for a while (DD and I have been fairly industrious this month making hats and scarves for the homeless).
I would like a brownie please ;o)
