New Food ~ New Cat

As you may remember, Banjo was diagnosed earlier this year with Megacolon. This has been a condition he has been affected by for several years, but it is a condition that is hard to diagnose and treat. He has been taking very expensive mediation for awhile (refer to the I Love My Cat Post ~ but double the one medication to $130 per month as the amount changed since I posted about it!!!). The medication and food were helping some, but not completely.

Beth, our vet, who was at a conference earlier this month, had learned about a new food that was having some very good results helping with Megacolon in cats, and thought of Banjo.

Banjo started on Gastro Intestinal Fibre Response dry cat food 18 days ago, and as of today, I am very happy to report, he has been off both of his medications and wet cat food for 12 days and has been having some very 'big' and 'regular' results with this new food. (groan... sorry... that was bad...) And, no vomiting for over 14 days either!!

She told me he was the first kitty in Swift Current to be on it. He's eating 1/2 cup a day (1/8 of a cup, 4 times a day) and seems to be much more appetite satisfied being on this food.

We are crossing our fingers and paws that we keep having good results!

Banjo and I send big hugs, kisses, and Thank You's to our vet, Beth! xxoo

I'm sorry that I've not been able to visit your blog this week--Life has gotten in the way of my blogging...But I think I'm caught up now and I'm glad that you're off to a good start with the new food!! It's wonderful that progress is being made to treat Banjo's condition because as you know it also benefits cats that will be diagnosed with this in the future!! Let us know how it goes!!

By the way, I saw snow flurries today--Sorry, but I sent it back in your direction! :-))) Stay warm!!!

We're so happy to hear that Banjo is doing so well on this food! What a wonderful vet to think of Banjo when she heard about this food! We also think that Medi Cat should use that photo of Banjo in its advertising. He is just so cute that no one would forget that brand with his picture on it!

That is good news about Banjo. Charlotte and Emily are now on the same brand of cat food only theirs is Renal for their ageing kidneys and it does help. Sold only at the vets and not cheap but worth it.

That does it!! I'm off to the vet to try and get ME some of that wonder food!

What a treat it would be to have something "big" and "regular" ..... oh, sorry.... that was bad too... lol....

I'm glad he is coming along so well.... what a lovely face he has....I so love looking at your photos of him.... blue eyes and such a soft look.... what a cute guy he is...

Excellent news! I hope he continues to thrive on it. I've just changed my little dog's food to a wheat-free fish-based dry kibble, with the same miraculous results in the er... nether-end production department.

Hurray!!! I'm so happy for Banjo and you! Many purrs for continued successful internal movement of the posterior sort only!

Hugs to vet Beth... sometimes I just don't know how they do it - Doc A almost always seems to have a new trick to pull out of his sleeve and, most of the time, he finds one that works!
