Graffiti In The City

I find Graffiti interesting.
What possesses someone to deface private
and/or public property.
Do they just need to get their
message read or their art seen?

Clearly someone from Gull Lake
thinks Swift Current is a happy city.

That's nice that someone is
in 'luv wit' Mary Jane...
I hope they finish school first
before getting married...

Oops!
This one is rated 'R'.

There's always
graffiti on boxcars...

someones art
riding across the country...

It's nice when someone comes along
and corrects the spelling mistakes...

I thought life was
a bowl of cherries...?

This one is
just nasty...

I wonder what they are
seeking and destroying?

Is this just a pretty design
or a symbol for something?
I hope it's not a symbol for something
I wouldn't want on my blog!!!

Just a little *

Well now...
this one is just cute...

Happy Wednesday! :)

I think all graffiti should be as cute as the last one! We have some around here, but the city is pretty good about getting to it fast.

We don't see much of that around here ... you showed us some interesting examples.

Quite a collection!
I don't mind graffiti so much when it is artistic but I do hate the mindless scribbly sort.

seeking and destroying private and public property.... I still think we should bring back the stocks and these people should be made to sit there whilst the rest of us get to use up rotten tomatoes and some big ol' cabbages. Of course, that means we would have to catch them first I guess.....and they usually are out there at 3 in the morning.... doing their dirty deeds...

hey... sure wish I had some expertise with blogging.... I managed to set it all up several years ago. But... I am afraid to monkey with it in case I lose everything... and...now that blogger has changed things...I can't even find anywhere to change the colour of my font on the old blogger templates. I guess some day I will have to bite the bullet..or hire somebody else.. and try to change a few things. I changed my header photo...but, that is the extent of it.....sigh.....I'm getting old and out of the loop I guess.....

love the header pics.... forgot to mention it...

I despise graffiti---unless it is done 'officially' on the side of a building or somewhere.

When we hike deep in the woods to see a gorgeous waterfall --it upsets me to see graffiti on the rocks around the waterfall. So ridiculous...

Seems like people could find other ways to be creative.
Hugs,
Betsy

I think graffiti is interesting too! You could get an education reading it, that's for sure. The one with the spelling mistake that got corrected REALLY cracked me up!

I always wonder the intent behind the grafitti and why someone felt compelled to put it in places it shouldn't be. Some of the taggers have obvious artist talent but wasting it on defacing property is a shame. It does make trains more interesting to watch though when stopped at a railroad crossing!

I wouldn't mind graffiti so much if it was in an artistic form, like when they do murals on the sides of buildings. But the stupid garbage stuff just annoys me. We live right behind a dollar store and two years ago someone spray painted some stupid graffiti on the back of the building. Now ever time I go in my back yard or look out the window, there it is. We've asked them about painting over it but they say they can't do anything without corporate approval. I guess corporate doesn't care about my view :)

I don't like graffiti on nature--like trees and rocks and such, but I don't mind it on train cars. It gives me something to watch and read while counting the cars. A lot of the graffiti is "tagging"--which is gang related. Your symbol might just be a gang symbol. Don't be painting that on your garage or anything. :)

Some grafiti is interesting & some really artistic, it's just a shame they have to deface the world with it. Great post! xxx

Love love love the banner!!
Whenever I'm stopped by a train, I get a kick out of looking at the "art" painted on the side of the cars. I often wonder where the cars are that these graffiti kings can paint without being noticed.
Fun post!

I've always thought there was an awful lot of wasted talent out there; some of the graffiti is beautiful (which is not to say I think it needs to be sprayed on buildings, etc.)
Loved the spell check!! *Laugh*

Hi Catherine, don't get me started on graffiti. I really hate to see property defaced here in Las Vegas. Like Linda said you can't understand most of it. It's most likely a gang sign. I have however seen some of the more art graffiti in other cities, and wonder why they choose that medium and why not do something more useful with their talents.
