Who am I and where am I going?

This grey goose has been the talk of the Swift Current radio all summer... clearly our little city is limited on what deems to be news worthy....

But no matter ~ I finally went to search her out. I knew she was living somewhere near Elmwood Park. Sure enough, there she was with all her babies the other weekend. While I didn't tempt fate and get too close, she was by no means nervous of me being around her and her babies.

When I came home, I tried to look her up in my Saskatchewan Birds book. But alas, she doesn't appear to be native to Saskatchewan.

The Jane Hathaway* in me feels very embarrassed that I can't figure out what kind of bird this is.

So to the "Who am I" part of my heading ~ can any of my nature followers help me with the name of this goose?

And for the "Where am I going?" part of my heading...

We are on our 3rd sunny day in a row. It's been beautiful out with promises of 22c (71F) for this afternoon! Stanley and I are going on a road trip today. We are going to someplace I have never been (he has) even though I have lived in Saskatchewan most of my life. We'll be leaving soon and we won't be back until around supper time.

Any guesses as to where we are going? :)

Have a lovely Saturday friends!

I know nothing about geese (although my step-mother raises them) — but my guess is going to be "american buff goose" — or (upon further googling) a Greylag goose.

Have fun on the road trip!

That is a pretty goose but I sure don't know what kind it is. The babies are cute.
Hope you had a good trip. We are supposed to get some cooler weather here tomorrow along with some rain which we really need badly.
Have a great Sat.

I've seen a grey goose like that before but didn't think of Jane Hathaway so didn't investigate who she is. As for where you are going, I'm very curious but don't have any guesses. Hope you have a great time wherever it is!

That looks like a domestic barnyard goose - my uncle had one as a watch dog/goose to keep strangers away from the house. He would honk to alert us of any newcomers. Your goose's babies I think are mallard ducks!

I'm not very good at identifying birds so I have no clue what kind of goose it is.
No guesses on where you're going either but can't wait to find out

You got some great shots of that goose and her little ones! I must say...I really need to move somewhere out of this desert city soon, because "geese" wasn't the first thing that came to mind when you said "Grey Goose"!
Oh dear! LOL! Hope you are having a lovely time where ever you are! Can't wait to hear about it. :-)

Those geese are not from our area in South Carolina, ours do not have light feathers like that. Hmmmmm, I don't know where you are going but I'm hoping for pics!

Whatever kind of goose that is, it really has that classic 'goose-look' that I really love!

I don't know your neck of the woods at all, so I won't venture a guess and just say that I hope you've had a wonderful day!!

What a beautiful goose and her babies! They are so cute together.
I sometimes see goose family (or it may be other kind) but have had no chance to take picture because I am usually driving when I see them. Maybe I should go to the park and look for them :-)

Okay.... don't know what type the goose is...but, those are not her babies... buddies maybe..... but, they are ducks.
Female mallard ducks....

hey Cat.... looked around at a few pics of geese...and I think it might be a Pilgrim Goose.... it says they are not nervous and good for home flocks.. maybe it is yours as it is friendly....?

How very odd....how did she end up with someone else's babies??!!?!?!? Never seen that before!

I've decided.... something happened to the Mommy duck ....and the babies "imprinted" on the goose...and now..she..or even he... has become their Mom. .. maybe somebody even took it there to be their protector... it could be somebody's pet....
