Mother Nature...you are cruel...

I took this photo this morning...

Are you kidding me???

It looked and felt like an early fall this morning
It was dark dreary and cool
The flax are pretty much done flowering
Apples on the ground
Not even ripe
Already spoiling and rotting
My lilies look atrocious
While I have no proof
I would suggest some long eared furry friend has been nibbling at them
Grey skies
Wet cold grass
Blooms way behind
Even my happy yellow flowers did not look so happy this morning
It's all very discouraging
Mother Nature can be so cruel...
when she wants to be
When one has not even really had summer this year
It's hard to look forward to fall starting so early

Perhaps Mother Nature will take pity on us yet...
maybe...

It has been 103F here for days, 98-100F regularly since mid May; we've had a tough summer with intense heat=wish we could share some with you guys!...I hope tomorrow is a better day, Catherine!

Maybe she'll change her mind and give you another month of summer at least. We've had perfect weather and a gorgeous summer so far but I haven't had time to enjoy it. I need to rearrange my priorities!

Yes, the days ARE getting shorter. And I love Summer and its l-o-n-g days. It's still very much summer here with temps near 90. Today, when my husband was in St Louis, Missouri, it was 103! Yikes!
Some plants look a bit Fall-ish here (SW Ohio). I think it's because of the intense heat. Sycamore trees are dropping leaves, black eyed susans blooming early, and a number of my plants look quite bug-bitten.

Well Catherine, it's too bad that I cannot send you some of our horribly hot summer weather... I'd swap with you in a heartbeat... BUT--I know how you feel... Everyone needs SOME summer weather... I'm sorry that you haven't had much this year.

Someone else posted some leaves which had changed colors already today... I can't remember where she is from --but I think it's in the northern part of the USA.

We've had so much dry weather this summer that some of our leaves have turned brown and just fallen off... I hate that.

Hopefully, the sun will shine for you brightly tomorrow.
Hugs,
Betsy

Here's sending warmth and sunshine your way! Mother Nature has been burning up my plants with this heat. My ivy is brown and crunchy but usually recovers when it gets cooler and I cut all the burnt stuff back. If only we could get some of your temps and rain & we could give you some sun, we'd all be happy! Hope you get some sunshine soon!

It is amazing that your cool, wet weather extended throughout the summer, especially for a province that is normally threatened by drought.

Some of the woodbine leaves are beginning to show a touch of color here as well. About 3 weeks ahead of schedule.

Banjo, how ever did you find us?! I am so happy that you did as we are LOVING your blog! Your photos are beautiful and your posts wonderfully enjoyable!

Like Betsy and Becca, we too have crispy plants. It is 93 right now. I wish my plants looked as good as yours! Certainly not munch worthy I tell you. Well at least the catnip isn't crispy....

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you'll do so again!

Purrs!

I'm getting caught up on my blog visits after being gone and have enjoyed reading your posts that I missed--I'm so glad to rad that "orange kitty" found a forever home!!!
You are so right on your post wondering what Mother Nature is thinking--During my 11 hour drive to Kentucky I was noticing some of the same things that you mentioned and wondered what month it really was!

We hope your summer comes back soon! The weather here has been very nice, and no sign of Fall yet!

I feel your pain when it comes to deer nibbled plants. I've been woken up the last two nights to nibbling sounds outside my window. Last night, I opened the door to scare the deer away, and accidentally woke up a frightened and disoriented little bird..I felt so bad! But I am tired of chewed up hostas!!!!

Today was our first rain all month. Things are so dried up here it looks like Autumn has come here early too!
