Giving Up

I,
like my garden,
have given up hope
that summer will return

there has been rain...
and the flowers bent their heads...
and then there was some more rain...
and all the apples rotted off the tree...
and that was followed by some more rain...
and the lattice broke apart on my garden arbour...
so then it rained some more...
On the plus side?

When I start my
3 weeks holidays as of
1:30 pm Friday, August 27
I won't have to spend time
tending to my garden
as all the flowers will be dead! :)

That's what I like..look on the positive side. It's changing fast here too. Felt like a fall evening when I walked the dog tonight. Hugs, Deb

We are finally getting some rain after a long dry spell. Unfortunately we are, of course, getting too much of it now. *sigh* I sure am glad the horses can't see the rotten apple picture (methinks it would make them cry *grin*)

Really sorry about all of your rain! Hope the sun shines for you soon ;)

So sorry about all of your rain this summer, Catherine. We have been just the opposite ---with lots of heat and almost NO rain... BUT--today we are finally getting some rain... YEAH for us--not for you.

Hope by the time you go on holiday--your rains will have subsided and you can enjoy some sunshine.

Hugs,
Betsy

Dear Catherine, sorry to hear you're having rain again! I've missed some of your posts because I have been spending a few days at the Purple Caravan and there is no computer connection there. I am leaving again tomorrow but I will catch up when I return. Hang in there my sweet friend! Remember the song: The sun will come out tomorrow... XO

Sorry about your garden and the arbour; we sure could use some of your rain=it's over 100F here and the grass everywhere is burning up...Take care, Catherine and try to stay dry!

Yes, we have had quite a lot ourselves in Jacksonville, and the heat is unbearable. So I stay indoors a lot in the summer. You flower pictures are beautiful and I absolutely love that one of the lattice!

ohh no!
we have had lots of rain & wind, but it is winter and it's just so hard to work in the garden.
at least you are looking at the positive side.
happy day Catherine

Oh Catherine...I hear ya gf!I am sick too death of all this rain!! Just the other night hubby and I were talking about how early it gets dark now...and how summer (what we had of it) is drawing to a close. It's disappointing! I guess all we can do is be grateful that we were not affected by flooding and hail damage like some of the other communities in our area.

Sorry about your garden ending up way too early! Three weeks of vacation is certainly something to look forward to and now you'll have plenty of time to relax and enjoy it!

Always makes me sad when the weather turns autumnal and you know that Summer has gone for good.
But the prospect of walking through crisp autumn leaves and seeing the trees in all their russet splendour is nice too.

To much of a good thing is not good! Except for Chocolate!

I am sure you will still find some repose in the garden with the moderating temperatures.
