Sweet Kitty ~ Careless Owners

Friday it was hot out ~ very hot out.

This sweet boy (perhaps 8 months old?) was wondering the back alley where I work. He wasn't a stray as he looked healthy and fed and was looking for love and attention.

Oh he had it ~ 5 women ooo'ing and aaaw'ing over him. This is a very busy back alley. The offices around where I work have deliveries all day. Big trucks, fast cars, lots of traffic. It was getting quite hot out and there was no water for kitty to slurp.

What were we going to do with him? The SPCA doesn't open until noon (it was only 8:30 am). Well... there was clearly only one choice... sweet kitty got to spend the morning with one of the gals in the cool office behind my office building. I think he got to help her with her paper work! :)

But no collar ~ no tag ~ nothing. No way to identify who this kitty belonged to. The closest residential home is blocks away from downtown. What was this sweet kitty doing out all by himself on such a hot day without any identification?

The worst part is, this is the 3rd kitty in just over a week who has been found wondering our back alley. One tiny kitten was not so lucky. Another one, about 7 weeks old, made it to the SPCA and is "out on a test drive" with a family. Hooray!!!!

I am glad this pretty orange boy made it into the arms of a caring and thoughtful person. I know she took care of him and made sure he either found his way home or made it to the SPCA.

Good luck kitty!

That kitty is a beautiful boy; glad he was rescued from the streets and I hope he finds a loving forever home...Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Catherine; kiss Banjo for me!

You let an orange kitty get away???! I hope he finds a great new home. Orange kitties ROCK! (well, Banjo does too!) ;)

FYI--In this heat, Hobbes wanted OUT! He'd yell until we let him out and he would hide under some hostas all day. When I found him, he was cool believe it or not. Sigh. I kept checking on him and making him come in for water.

What a sweet boy! I'm glad that he was found and cared for and not fending for himself out in the heat. It makes me so sad when I see kitties out loose, away from any home. Thanks to you and the other office gals for taking care of this little one!

Sounds to me like word is out that your back alley is a place to dump cats. Pitiful how people can be, so careless, so irresponsible, so horrid. Summer is never a good time for the welfare of cats and that is everywhere. Our town has a kennel where the Animal Control Officer takes the street cats and dogs and they sit there for 72 hours to see if they get claimed and then go up for adoption. They are given a good length of time but it fills up and some have to be euthanized. It never gets any better. Too many animals and not enough good homes. So sad! I'm happy that this little one at least has a chance to get off the street and find a home.

What a pretty boy. I'm glad he found a safe, cool place with loving people. I have to wild kittens right now, one is now tame, the other close, then they must go to the humane society. Our property is a favorite place to drop off unwanted cats, it breaks my heart.

Oh my, how sweet, I'm afraid that would have made 3 kitties for me if I would have been there!

Glad you found that nice orange kitty. Thank heavens someone took him in so he didn't get hit by any cars or trucks. Someone probably just dropped him off. Hope he gets a great home.
Have a great day

Hi Catherine! I am sure this little cutie is a lucky one, as he found you, and this is the luckiest thing that could have happened to him!! All my cats are rescued and we love them so much!!

I am sure you will enjoy your 3 weeks holiday, and yes, I forgot to mention "cleaning" too on my list...Oh well, maybe I will leave the less pleasurable activities for the end of vacations... ;)

See you on your blog sweet Catherine, and thank you for all your comments, I love to read them all!!!!

Oh--isn't that just sad, that people would just discard their animals like that... Wonder if someone let a bunch of kitties out in that alley????? What a shame... Really, makes me MAD that people would do that.

Well--thanks to friends, hopefully 2 of the 3 will get good homes....

Hugs,
Betsy

I wish we had something like SPCA , here in Sweden...
There are so many homeless cat´s here... Homeless and afraid...
My heart is breaking only to think about it...
We have "cat homes" that are overfilled by cats needing new homes...
Thank god, there are people like you and me, with warm hearts!

Wish you a wonderful evening!

Such a lucky cat to be so well looked after. It,s law here now that all cats and dogs must be micro-chipped but of course some owners I'm sure don't bother and even with microchips I still think cats and dogs should wear a collar with phone no. attatched.
The little ginger boy is so handsome, I hope he finds a loving new home.
