Trying To Make The Most of It

I'm trying to stay positive about the weather...truly I am. I am positive it will be another cool and rainy day today...(does that count??!)

But despite the rain yesterday, I attempted to find things I could take photos of in-between the spraying mist. My garden...always an adequate source. And as well, with a coffee and tea at our sides, Stanley and I jumped in his truck and took a drive to the Research Station ~ which is always an enjoyable setting.

My garden lanterns have not had a chance to fully charge due to the lack of sunshine!!!
Irish Moss in my garden.

Irish Moss and Woolly Thyme mixing together between my garden stones.... ummmm... perhaps if you would be so kind to please ignore the weeds you see in my garden photos... :)

Love the green clinging to the big trees.

The grass is certainly nice and green out at the Research Station.
A walk through the trees...it is so wet it smells like being up at the lake.

A sign that things are trying to grow despite the rain and the chill.

Rainy days are good for fish... or... perhaps not with a garden cat waiting close by on the shore...

My garden bunny Kurtis bought me for Mother's day...water dripping down it's wee face...

The solar ball floats in an overflowing bird bath...

My poor potted flowers have been stuck under plastic for almost 4 days now. Their little faces pushing up against it like a small child wishing for the rain to stop so he can go outside and play.

Soon little flowers...soon...

Aw, love this post! I came over to visit the rain since I rarely get to see it! Beautiful photos, and I love the moss, I've seen that in Oregon before too. Why do you need to put plastic over your flowers? Will they not support the rain? Hope you get some sunshine soon.

Even with the rain, the pictures are so serene. Hope it lets up soon for you!

Becca ~ it's not so much the rain that I am protecting my flowers from ~ though we've had so much the pot drainage can't keep up with it ~ it's the frost that we can get over night still! Oh the joys of living in Saskatchewan! :)

Those are terrific pictures. It sounds like you are having the same problem with your gardner as we are with our maid. They just don't show up.
I loved the wonderful pictures. Sorry about all your rain. Good of you to be positive that it is going to rain again. I like that positive outlook.
Have a great day.

Your pictures are still gorgeous, Catherine, soon the sun will shine and when it does, you will probably forget after just one day already all the rain and chilly weather. That's how it works, doesn't it? The next time i use my spoons, the aqua one is my favorite, I will think of you.
Sending many sunbeams to your sweet little corner in the world, Catherine. xx

Oh Catherine, I so feel your pain. It has been dark and grey and windy and rainy for way too long here too! And I LOVE the rain, but this is getting a bit ridiculous. It's supposed to be like this again all week! But, I think you found the silver lining...things look so lush and deeply colourful through a lens when it's like this.
We will see the sun again...hang in there. xo

Actually that flower behind the plastic is a little bit funny ( if it wasn't so sad). Hang in there girl! xx

I feel for you... and even here on the coast of California we've had waaaaaay more rain and chilly weather than normal! My garden is behind because of it. I keep reminding myself that its so much better than the lack of water that California seems to always be troubled with! Gorgeous photos in spite of the rain Catherine! You made the best of it if a big way! (:

I love the moss and thyme together!

About weeds, wellllll, Tom freaks out if he sees a weed. I like them big enough so the I can get a handle on them. He bought me tweezers! I will not judge you for a glimpse of a weed. Actually, I thought that it was a very artistic weed. Just as long as it's not an arctic weed! I hope that you get some warmer, sunnier weather, soon, with all my heart.

Love, Katy xo

I agree with the thoughts of the others--Even in the worst kind of weather, you take amazing pictures! My favorite is the last one with that poor flower looking forlornly at the outside...I'm sending warm sunny thoughts in your direction--We have plenty in Virgnia!

Hi Catherine, Sorry that your weather is so 'stinky' --for lack of a better word... We are having some unusually warm weather here --for the end of May. The forecasters keep saying that we're going to have a HOT summer. Yuk!!! Wish we could send some of our weather up to you--at least the higher temperatures.

Have a good remainder of the weekend.

Hugs,
Betsy

We have the same moss and green on the trees from all the rain. Even our forecasted sun for this weekend never materialized but it did get up to 68 (20 degrees C). Maybe spring is skipping both of us this year and we're just going straight to summer!

You capture well the beautiful greens that can thrive in a wet spring. I like the moss on the trunks of trees and those miniature plants on your walk. What a contrast with the drought and brown dormancy in the heat of the summer.

Catherine, you and your camera. A most perfect combination in any kind of weather, that's for sure! I know you've had it with the rain, but it provided such a soft and poetic feel to this post. Beautiful! (Thank you for leaving a feed back about new my Blog button. I agree with you, I think I like this one the best :0) xxx

I can sympathize with you...we had snow! I have not even planted my flower pots yet, I am in no mood. Summer....will it EVER come to us? I need to go to Hawaii.
