Bird Update

To update you on the Blackbird from yesterday, I peeked out at him several times this morning and he had moved out of the bird house and it looked like he had eaten a little. I saw him hopping around a bit. By the time I left for work and went to check on him before leaving ~ he had flown away! (Or at least that is what I choose to believe!)

I imagine he had some explaining to do to his mate as to why he was so late getting home! ;)

Hooray! I'm sure that he flew away. You would have known if you were looking at a csi.

This suddenly reminds me of a time when I was just out of college and working in a tea room in pasadena. We had found an injured bird. The riots (spurred on by the ruling re: Rodney King) were in their full force of the first day. I travelled 1 hr. (because of stop lights) to the north of the city, right near where Rodney King was from so that I could bring the bird to an old eccentric lady called the bird lady. She had a house nestled behind others, down a long drive, surrounded by trees. Inside, she had at least 80 birds - most of them from the wild but not all. She would rescue them and tame them. She had a few birds that she wasn't even supposed to have, including an owl that had been injured. It was truly a strange day with the smoke from my city clouding the sky and going into that little pocket of a curious place.

I like the way you rescue birds better!

Love, you know.

I choose to believe he flew home to explain his all nighter to his mate; think she will believe him?!!

Oh I hope he flew away... that's what I'll think happened anyway. I'm such a big wimp when it comes to animals. I hate it when they're hurt.

YAY!! That's what I choose to believe also!!

It sounds like the opportunity to rest in safety gave the little bird a good chance to recouperate, and meant he was able to fly home. It is so sweet of you to take care of him :)
