Good-Bye...I'm running away to join the circus... become a side-show attraction... I have posted a couple of times about the love of my teeth. I know it's vanity, I know there are way more important things in life, I know it's an irrational love of a technically replaceable body part...but enduring 2 years of braces, 1 year of wearing a retainer, dental surgery, gum cuttings, not to mention the nice $10 grand you throw towards the Orthodontist, will do that to a person...

So picture this act of stupidity... yesterday at work... while trying to do some major thinking... chewing on a pen to help me look like I was really thinking hard... I CHIPPED MY FRONT TOOTH!!! What? Are you kidding me??? GAAK!

OMG...I totally look like Lloyd Christmas (a.k.a. Jim Carrey) from the movie "Dumb and Dumber"!

I showed all my coworkers and retold the harrowing experience to my boys last night at the dinner table. Later last night, I was standing at my bathroom mirror, once again accessing the damage. Kurtis came in and said "'s not that bad."

Not wavering from my spot in front of the mirror, cringing at my reflection, I cried out in disbelief "What? Are you blind? It's as big as the Grand Canyon!" (To clarify ~ I've never been to the Grand Canyon ~ but I hear it's big.)

"If you wouldn't have pointed it out to everyone, no one would have even noticed."

"Kurtis! I am a freak! I am running away and joining the circus as one of the side show attractions!"

"When are you getting it fixed?"

"Tomorrow morning..."

And with that he roles his eyes and walks away from me...

Hmmm...when did my 19 year old become so sensible and when did I become so irrational...?
Photo Credit: Google images...there's so many copies out there...who the heck knows who originally owns it? The movie company or Jim Carrey I guess!

Tomorrow's Another Day So...

It is raining this evening.
I am so happy!

It reminded me of one of my favorite songs by Jo Dee Messina.
This song can make me cry if I am in the right mood.

But this makes me very happy!

If you have never heard it ~ have a listen.
I hope it makes you feel as good as it makes me feel.

Idle Garden Gloves

My idle garden gloves wait patiently for me
It will be awhile yet

My wishes of yesterday did not come true
Nowhere in that post did I wish for snow
But for some reason ~ it did did not stay

One must always look for a silver lining
Don't you think?

Wishful Wednesday

If I could make a WISH come true today, I would wish to:

~ Sit in my backyard swing
Watch assorted colorful birds eat from my bird feeders
See hundreds of butterflies kiss my bright potted flowers
Listen to bumblebees buzz
Sip a tall glass of iced tea with lots of ice and a slice of lime or two

mmmm...indeed...that is what I would wish for today.

Sometimes you just need a laugh...

this bird was a birthday present
it was meant to be a joke
it is so ugly
yet it is so cute
it is orange and bright and fun
it makes me happy
it makes me laugh

thanks Michele!

Q: Why does a chicken coop have only 2 doors?
A: If it had 4 it would be a sedan.

Come on...admit it...that made you at least smile... :)

Orange Kiss

Mother Nature blew me a kiss today
it landed on my cheek
warm promises
that winter is over

I'm not sure if I can trust her yet
she has teased me before
but I take a leap of faith
and put away my winter sweaters...

Oh Deer...

There's a brand new house across the street for sale.
They better sell it quick
before all the landscaping is gone!

Have a Happy Friday!

P.S. For those who asked below,
"Spring in a TinCan" was purchased at
one of our local drugstores, Pharmasave!

Add plenty of water...
Place on a sunny windowsill...

And soon you will have spring!

How enjoyable is that? :)

I've Been Tagged!

I was tagged by BeadedTail this morning! Oh my ~ how fun!

The tag is to open my first photo folder, scroll down to the 10th photo, post that photo and tell the story behind it, then tag 5 more bloggers. first folder was "Birthday" and my 8th to 17th picture in that folder was of Kurtis. Following are pictures 10 and 15. They all pretty much look like these!!!

The story? It was my birthday and I was trying to take pictures of him. He was not cooperating. Usually, he is sticking out his tongue, crossing his eyes, or hiding his face. I think I took too many pictures of him as a baby. He used to be a very good boy and sit still for me while I snapped 2 - 3 rolls of film at a time. Now that he is grown up? It's like pulling teeth to get him to sit nice and let me take his picture. I try to threaten him but all he does is laughs at me.

Gosh...where are the days when he used to do as he was told. Not even on my birthday would he let me take his picture!' gotta love 'em!

Rather then tagging 5 specific blogger friends, I encourage anyone wanting to play the game to go ahead! Give it a try ~ it's fun!

Thanks for thinking of me Sadie, Angel and Isabella! You all are just the sweetest 3 furry friends!

Same Place Same Time

In Saskatchewan,
we do not participate in Daylight Savings.
Our time is our time.
We do not have to get up or go to bed earlier.
We just have to figure out at what time
our favorite TV shows are now on at!

And when you are a cat, and sleep 16 hours a day,
whether there is an extra hour of daylight
in the morning or at night
is of no consequence... :)

“Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't
own it, but you can use it. You can't keep
it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it
you can never get it back.”

Performing My Wifely Duties...

Once a year I break down and perform my 'wifely duties'... and I go watch one of Wayne's hockey games...

{last year's wifely duties}

I used to go and watch lots of his games
and then I got the ol' engagement ring...
after that I never felt the need to go watch him any more

I think he still loves me...

Whooo Loves Fridays?

Is there any other day of the week
that brings forth the passion of an emotion
that Mondays bring to hate
as Fridays bring to love?

I think not......

Have a most lovely weekend!

Better Than It Was A Year Ago

Thursday, March 11, 2010
Last year on this day I was up in North Battleford. I was away from my boys, in a hotel room, complaining about having my morning routine disrupted, no proper tea to make myself, and that there were windchill warnings of - 40c out!
One year later, I am at home, drinking my tea and on the computer, it's supposed to get up to + 4c today, I will be stopping by Timmy's on my way to work!

I shall not complain about the weather today...! :)

Morning Routine Disrupted ...and it was so cold out I couldn't talk myself into doing a 'Timmy's" run. But - not this morning! Even though there is windchill warnings of minus 40 out (Can you imagine? March 11 and there is windchill warnings out!!!), I will be heading out of my hotel room...

Katrina & I ~ Saturday Morning Photoshoot

Early yesterday morning (8:20 am ~ very early for Miss K!) Katrina and I jumped into Wayne's truck with our cameras, picked up some Timmy's and headed South for a photoshoot!

Don't tell Stanley, but she was eating a Sausage English Muffin in his truck...(tsk tsk)...and I also spilled some of my Steeped Tea as well...(but if he asks...I'm blaming it on her...ha!).
The farther South we drove, the more snow there was. We knew we weren't going to get any 'spring like' pictures when we ended up at Lac Pelletier and there was ice fishing going on! Are you kidding me?!? We decided we don't 'get' ice fishing. Sitting in those teeny tiny trailers when you could be relaxing by the fire in one of those beautiful cabins? We think not!
We decided to make the best of it and try to find something to take pictures of. Of course, there are always lots of dried flowers and plants peeking out of the snow.
And what would the Prairies be without old farm equipment laying abandoned in fields along the way.
We stopped to take pictures of an old house. The snow was a little misleading at how deep it was until you fell through. I'm pretty sure you could hear us laughing miles down the road:

"Look, the snow is hard enough for us to walk on. Come on..." A surprised cry "bwahaha...ha ha...I'm OK...I'm back up. It was just...bwahahaa...I'm down again...." and on this went for at least 15 minutes to the old house and 15 minutes back to the truck. Our feet and legs were frozen ~ but we laughed and laughed!

Old barns, building and fences always make for good pictures.
And of course, when you have nothing else to take pictures of, there are always some cows around.

Thanks for the most enjoyable morning Katrina ~ my sides still hurt from laughing so hard!

Note: You should be able to check out Katrina's blog
kat's cradle later for more photos. Probably much later...she's not quite the early riser that I am! {xxoo to you Katrina!}

Money can buy happiness...

If you need some green in your life
Get It
even if you have to
Buy It

A little plant sitting in the sunshine
on my kitchen window ledge

makes me very happy

This bit of happiness cost
me $2.99 yesterday

By the way...
it's fake

Can you tell?

Have a HAPPY

Birthday Me-Day

One should not work
on the day of their birth.
So I'm not!
I have the whole day off!

And since I ate the cake below, last night
at Boston Pizza when
my hubby and son took me out,
I am starting my day off
with the celebratory
morning grapefruit above.

While it is sometimes a bit depressing
turning another year older,
the alternative is not what I want!

I do know that getting older
is an experience that
many people are denied.
Very true indeed.

So with that,

to me!

I hope you have a most enjoyable day!
I know I'm going to!

Regrets? I've got plenty...

As promised from yesterday's post, I present to you my top 4 regrets in life:

REGRET #1. I regret wasting so many tears on this...ummm...well let's just say it...doofis in the above photo. But luckily, Mr. Right in the photo below came into my life about 5 years later.

REGRET #2 & #3. I regret getting this perm 1 week before I graduated and I regret not getting braces the first time the dentist mentioned it when I was only 16. But look at me now! I haven't had a perm since the very early 1990's and my teeth are nice and straight!

REGRET #4. I regret not living on an acreage where I could have a barn with 100 cats living in it. But look at my beautiful big boy! Who could ask for anything more?

I've got plenty...

But luckily everything turned out how it was supposed to. :)

Am I Who I Am Supposed To Be?

The calendar is approaching another turning point in my life. Another year, a new number to 'label' me. I start to wonder, as I do every year around this time; Am I who I am supposed to be? Am I where I am supposed to be? Am I doing what I am supposed to be?

I never seem to know the answer. I know I have a few regrets in my life {of which I will share with you tomorrow}, but I do believe our choices, good and bad, are what makes us who we are. I don't think you can go through life without a few regrets {my opinion only of course}.

But I do know I have in my life those people that are supposed to be with me. After that, does any of the rest of it really truly matter?

I am who I am and I'm OK with that.
