Christmas Wishes

How can a person be so happy about something
have a broken heart at the same time?

I have posted about visiting
my friend Shannon's acreage before

Stray orange and white kitty
was lucky enough to be adopted
by her and her sweet young daughter yesterday.
They have the biggest hearts I know
for animals, cats in particular.

'Sparky' was being introduced
to the 'Garage Cats' yesterday.
One step above the 'Barn Cats',
one step below the 'House Cats'.

Take care Sparky
I will come out to visit
you and all your other new
brothers and sisters in the Spring!

Love... Warmth... Food... Home...
there is not much more in
life that is needed.

I wish for all of you this holiday season
the best that life has to offer.

I wish for
Health and Happiness
to you all.

xo Catherine

First Day of Winter...Really?

As we head into the First Day of Winter...
I thought the first day of winter
was way back at the start of November.

Well anyways,
as we head into the First Day of Winter
December 21
I hope you are getting your Christmas plans
all wrapped up.

And I hope you are not stressing about
any of the things you haven't done,
that you meant to do,
that you should have done,
because remember...

it's supposed to be
'Happy' Holidays...

My Promise ~ Sunday #3

Sunday #3 of December
And as promised
from my connecting 3 posts,

I accomplished two more activities last week.

Gift #5:
Continuing from my donation of
warm mittens, toques and scarves
for the Newcomer Welcome Centre,
I asked friends from work
if they had anything to contribute,
along with our Marketing Department,
and contribute they did!

Along with more warm woolies,
I also collected a few warm coats as well!
Thank you everyone for your help!
(I work with some fantastic people!!!)

Gift #6:
I am giving my old (but still very stylish!!!)
eyeglasses to the Lions Club.
(Most optometrist offices take the donations.)

The gift of site for someone who can't afford it.
I am getting new glasses tomorrow and usually,
I throw my old glasses into a drawer and forget about them.
But not this year!

I only see what remains to be done."

No Rhyme nor Reason (Odds n' Ends)

7 more sleeps until Christmas!

This time next week,
I will be warming cinnamon buns,
making french vanilla coffee
and getting ready to open presents
with hubby, son and cat!

A very quiet Christmas is in our plans.
As is a white Christmas....

Thank you to BumbleVee
for these sweet gifts sent to me in the mail!
The little white birds
are now on my tree!

Thank You to a friend from work
for these pretty homemade
cards, notepads and Christmas decorations!
(You are so thoughtful Jackie!)

Thank You to another friend for the
beautiful silk scarf ~ you are so kind!

Thank You to stray Calico Bunny
for leaving your rabbit 'droppings'
and yellowing my clean white snow!

I see you have grown
a very thick and warm coat.
I will worry less about you this winter.

And to sweet orange and white stray kitty...
I'm sorry the SPCA quarantine room is full
and they do not have room to take you.

But do not fear,
you will always have food here every night
and a shelter in the Cedar trees
for as long as you need it.

Hope you everyone is ready for Christmas...
here it comes...
ready or not! :)

Must Have Holiday Treat

Do you have a
#1 MUST HAVE Holiday Treat?

Mine is Caraway Seed Cheese
and I can't find it anywhere.

I am afraid
Christmas might have to be cancelled
if I do not find my cheese..... :(

Well maybe not quite
but I sure would like some.

And you?
Do you have a favorite
"I only eat it at Christmas" food?

Things that make me feel old...

Riding in the back seat of the car
with Kurtis driving and
Wayne in the passenger seat
makes me feel old...

The fact that I have to take heartburn medication
anytime I have a little of 'the bubbly'
or anything remotely spicy
makes me feel old...

Because I have to dye the
silver landing strip
in my hair every 5 weeks
makes me feel old...

That I have to wear
progressive lenses
makes me feel old...

The fact that my sweet baby boy
joy of my life
heart of my soul

is turning 20 years old today
makes me feel old...

Happy Birthday Kurtis!

My Promise ~ Sunday #2

Here I am,
the second Sunday of December
and as promised from
and continuing from Sunday #1 (Dec 5 post)
I accomplished two activities this week.

they took very little money,
and even less time,
but they come from my heart...

Gift #3:
Giving warm mittens, toques and scarves
to the Newcomer Welcome Centre.
Can you imagine leaving your home country
where it's +30c (+86F)
to find a better life in Canada,
and stepping off the plane
where it's -35c (-31F) or worse weather?
Some of these people come with nothing.
There are wee little ones, small children,
women and men.
Hopefully my gift of new items
will make someones life a little warmer!

(NOTE: I am working on a project this week
that adds on to this gift!)

Gift #4:
I took some Christmas baking to a friend
who had surgery last week.
She's on crutches and can't get around.
Turtle Brownies.
They were still warm when I delivered them.

I have a confession to make...
I kept a few brownies for me and my boys...

Well... I'm only human after all! ;)

"How do you say 'thank you' for sunshine or health,
for clear days or gentle rains,
for happiness, joy or love?
You say it by sharing what you have.
You say it by making the world a better place
in which to live."

Naughty Behavior - The Christmas Tree

There's really not much to be said
when a cat has 'attitude'
and puts the bitey on a branch
right in front of you
defying your repeated warnings
about leaving the Christmas tree alone
and then proceeds to clean himself
as if it's no big deal...

So much to do... so little time...

Are you starting to feel rushed?
Like there isn't enough time left to do the things you need to do?

Before you go making yourself crazy about something that isn't going to get done before Christmas day, ask yourself this simple question:

"Will Christmas be ruined if we don't have ________?" (fill in blank):
  • all the baking you planned to do finished
  • the house perfectly clean
  • every inch of your home covered in lights
  • the hand crafted "Martha Stewart" Christmas Crackers
  • 12 dozen gifts under the tree
  • 5 maxed out credit cards
  • 4 jelly salads
  • 3 kinds of bread
  • 2 types of gravy
  • and a fruit cake as large as your head...

~~~Quote from "The Grinch"~~~
Narrator: Every Who down in Who-ville, the tall and the small,
Was singing! Without any presents at all!
He HADN'T stopped Christmas from coming! IT CAME!
Somehow or other, it came just the same!
And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling:
Grinch: How could it be so?
It came without ribbons! It came without tags!
It came without packages boxes, or bags!
Narrator: And he puzzled and puzzed, till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before!
"Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store.
Maybe Christmas… perhaps… means a little bit more."
My Promise ~ Sunday #1
So here we are,
the first Sunday of December,
and as promised from
I accomplished two activities last week.
They are so little,
but they come from my heart...
Gift #1:
Taking food, bleach, towels, Canadian Tire money
to our local SPCA.
Banjo inspected the gift bag
to ensure everything was in order!
While there,
I of course had to spend a bit of time
cuddling some cats and kittens...
and all these kitties were so cuddly!
While it is sad that these kitties
don't have a home,
I know they are being
taken care of very well.
It's warm,
it's dry,
there's food and water,
and their cages are
very very clean!
This sweet girl had a very hard life out in the cold.
She had many batches of kittens
many fights
a frozen ear
but she was so full of trust and willing
to take all the attention I could give her...
love love love...
Oh sweet kitty
I think my Banjo is going
to be sniff sniff sniffing me
when I get home!
There were about 4 more that I played with
but it's very hard to try and cuddle kitties
and take your own photo,
so I opted for missing the photos
and concentrated on the sweet cats and kittens! :)
Gift #2:
I sent a grocery gift card
to a family that needs a little extra help
this holiday season.
"If you can't feed a hundred people,
then just feed one."
~ Mother Teresa
