Confessions of a Chocolaholic

I have a confession...
sometimes I am craving chocolate so bad
I eat an extra chocolate calcium chew... :-)

Random Pictures From Saturday

A drive around the city will always produce
something of interest to take pictures of!

Pretty Church windows A little black squirrel eating breakfast
and then running to hide up a tree

I liked the shadows of the trees in the park

It was a lovely day ~ just me and my camera!

Saying Good-bye to Yellow

There are no bright colors left in my garden. Nothing but browns and golds. I went for a drive last night and found some yellow's thriving at Doc's Town Church. The yellow's always seem to be the last to go.

It's back! Friday that is...not my computer!

Here we are at Friday again on what is sure to be another most lovely fall day! I am hoping to go take pictures of stuff this weekend as I am getting sick of posting pictures of leaves as I am sure you are sick of seeing them. I hold no hope out for getting my computer back today, which means I am going into week #6 without my desktop. Those "Mac" commercials are becoming less funny and turning into very thought provoking seriousness of purchasing one and telling ol' "PC" to go to the junk yard and never come back!!!! Sigh.... {Aren't those commercials hilarious?}

Have a most fantastic Friday!

Can't Live Without - LOVE LOVE LOVE

Besides my family and friends {goes without saying} ~ there are five things I LOVE LOVE LOVE Can't Live Without! Well... of course I COULD live without them ~ but it is so much nicer having them. They are: Cereal ~ I think if I had to live on only one food for the rest of my life ~ I would choose cereal. Not like 'fruit loops' or anything like that. But the really good for you, 'eat a tree' kind of cereal that sticks with you the whole day! mmmmm.... love it!
Fall ~ Love the fall! My favorite season. How lovely it is to once again wear long-sleeved shirts to hide those 'grandma Oakley' arms! {errr... sorry grandma... love you... hate that I inherited from the 'big armed' gene pool...}
My Craft Room ~ Oh what joy of hours spent in my craft room ~ organizing, reorganizing and crafting while watching movies!
Nature ~ Love the birds, love the rabbits, love the stray cats, love the deer, and on and on and on.

My Camera and Computer ~ Which I thought would not be as fun to show as a beautiful rain kissed flower! Love all 3 of my cameras ~ love my computer... though I haven't seen it for 4 weeks as it has been in and out of the computer store 4 times now! {Honestly... all I wanted was a simple upgrade of RAM and it has now been one thing after another... sigh...!} But thank goodness for the laptop ~ though limited in my photo editing abilities! Very materialistic I know {shame on me} ~ but they still really do bring me joy!

So there you go ~ those are my 5 most enjoyable things!

Is there any thing you are particularly loving right now?

Mind Reader

Sometimes I think it would be wonderful to be able to read minds. Especially the minds of our four legged family members. Banjo is very deep in thought looking out the living room window. I'm not really sure what he is even looking at really. But whatever he is thinking ~ it seems to be intense. His big baby blues staring off in to the distance. What are you thinking about Banjo?

It's cold this morning...

It got up to 33c on Saturday.
It's 4c this morning.
That's frosty.
Though when it's -45c this winter
I shall remember this post
and think back to
how warm it was out this morning!

A Well Loved Cat

If I should have to come back one day
and 'do it' all again
I think I shall come back
as a well loved cat!

Friday Is Here Again

Friday is here again.

It doesn't matter what kind of a week you've had ~ Friday eventually shows up. No matter what is happening in our lives ~ there is still only 24 hours in a day ~ 7 days in a week. Life keeps rolling on ~ because it has to. I think we often forget to take one moment - one day - at a time. We often forget to breath as we anticipate what will happen next. The 'what if 's get in our way.

Things always get better ~ they always do. Not how you necessarily plan them ~ but they do get better. That's life.

Sending love and good thoughts to anyone that needs it today.

If you need it - take it.

If you don't - give it.

It's good for the karma.

Now That's Funny!

There are certain stories and jokes that my boys and I tell to each other over and over again. Each time, the story gets exaggerated just a little bit more, the punch line gets a little more dramatic, but each time it's said, we all laugh and laugh as if it's the first time it's been heard. I think sometimes if an outsider was sitting with us at our kitchen table, they would think we were all very insensitive to each other's feelings. But we're not. That's how we show our love for each other - through our humour. Honestly, if I didn't like or were indifferent to you, I wouldn't tease you! {With that said, don't get worried if I only give you a simple 'hello' in the hallway at work today instead of a quick tease... it's probably not because I don't like you... sometimes I simply don't have time to be funny... or is it...??? ha ha ha...}

The following are some of our main staples - at least a couple of times a month {warning - we use the word 'ass' a lot in our family, so if that offends you, please don't read any further}:

After sharing what I think is a funny story: Kurtis: "You are sooo hil-ar-e-ass." Me: "I don't have a harry ass... do I Wayne?" Wayne: "Not the last time I checked." {insert all three of us laughing here}

Eating anything with warm cheese Wayne will purposely leave a long string of it hanging from his mouth and sit there until either Kurtis or I notice it. Kurtis usually notices it first. Kurtis: "Mom... look." Me: "No... I'm not looking." Wayne: "Hey Catherine... " Me: "I'm not looking... " Kurtis: "Mom... dad has something he wants to show you." Me: "I'M NOT LOOKING!" Wayne: "Hey Catherine..." Me: Finally looking at him... "You stupid ass." {insert all three of us laughing here}

Upon sitting for too long one of us will say, "My ass is sore." One of us will reply, "Mine too. I think I need a new one 'cause this one has a hole and a crack in it." {insert all three of us laughing here}

So as I always say, when you come to our house for a visit ~ please leave your pride at the door 'cause if you can't laugh at yourself ~ you don't belong here....! Hmmm.... perhaps that's why we don't get many visitors to our house! ;-)

Rust in My Garden

The rust in my garden adds to the feeling of fall. The golds ~ reds ~ coppers remind me that this beautiful weather will not last forever. In less than 10 weeks I will be putting up the Christmas tree...

Makes you think doesn't it?

Baking Cookies

Every once in awhile I get the urge to bake something ~ not often ~ but it does happen. I baked some peanut butter cookies for my boys yesterday. Kurtis' favorite ~ my unfavorite! That way ~ my hand stays out of the cookie jar! :-)

Hmmm...do boys ever grow out of that? I'm thinking not...

Another Wild Saturday Night

Some of the city's 'wild' night life! I love the fact that these deer live in our city. I know I get mad when they are in my back yard eating my flowers ~ but still ~ they are a beautiful site to see on a warm fall evening ~ calmly walking around the city ~ looking for the tastiest grass and leaves!

A Bunch of Lady Bugs

A - gaggle - flock - swarm - ??? - of little lady bugs!
Grouping together between my fence posts.
Are they swarming for a reason?
Or are they just trying to keep warm?
Perhaps they are trying to tell me something?
Like winter is not far away?
Hmmm....

Thoughts In My Brain

I fell asleep around 9:30 pm last night. {Being as it was Friday ~ I thought I would be wild and crazy and stay up for an extra 1/2 hour!} I woke up shortly before 1 am ~ unable to get back to sleep. Thoughts are bouncing around inside my brain and I can't shut them off. It's like the lights above ~ unable to slow down long enough to go dim. Laying in bed is useless ~ after an hour or so I get up. I check the bloggasphere to see what's happening. It's quiet.

Rediscovering The Joy of Jumping

Upon losing 1/3 of his body weight ~ Banjo soon rediscovered the joy of jumping up onto the kitchen cupboard and sitting at the open window... much to the dismay of his family who was now finding stray cat hairs in their turkey sandwiches...

Oh Banjo... you are lucky I love you so much!

Uhhh... while you're up there ~ would you mind cleaning my dirty screen please... it's kind of embarrassing! :-)
