A New Addiction

I have been contemplating for the last couple of months, the idea of turning my blog into a hard copy book - a coffee table book. I downloaded a program from blurb this morning and 'slurped' the contents of my blog into it. It took about 15 minutes (all those pictures!!!). Now comes the fun part: editing, rearranging, choosing colors, text styles, borders...and the list goes on. I spent over an hour on it this morning...I'm done my 1st page....I have approximately 300 pages to go!?!! There's too many choices for a person like me!

I told Wayne that I think I need to quit work so that I could devote more time to my book. He told me to go ahead and hand in my resignation today and that we would live off the proceeds that I make from selling my book...hmmm... OK Stanley...I detect a little sarcasm in there... :-(

It's not to sell my book {who would want a hard copy of someone's blog when they can read it on-line for free...except perhaps my mother...oops...now my mom knows what she's getting for Christmas...Merry Christmas mom!} It's to have a historical copy of my blood, sweat and tears from a year of blogging to sit on my coffee table so that guests {and we get so many guests at our house let me tell you...} can pick it up, thumb through it and be amazed at my creativity! {Hmmm...I hope they don't bend the pages...perhaps I will get all the pages laminated...} Anyhoo - my point being - I don't think Stan gets it...

Stanley a.k.a. Wayne - his middle name - used when teasing him and when I need to make Katrina laugh... :-)

An Afternoon At The Fair

A quick trip to the fair this afternoon
proved to be worth our $5!
How enjoyable {but yet sad} to watch a
15 minute show of 'movie star' lions.
Supposedly a few of them had been used in
the movie "Evan Almighty".

Can you believe this big white lion
was still young enough to be drinking
out of a baby bottle? Cute!

Random Thought - Expensive Taste

**WARNING** For those of you who don't like reading long posts - I totally understand. Please feel free to skip this post {no hard feelings} and come back tomorrow for when I promise you that I will not babble on and on like some blithering idiot... :-) That's a funny word...blithering...ha ha...

So...I have been awake since 12:30 am. It is now 3:30 am as I am starting this post. I have had about 3 hours of sleep and unless I get off this computer right now, I do not anticipate going back to sleep before going in to work. For everyone that has to deal with me today - well - let me just apologize right up front. Forgive me...for I do not know what I say or do...

OK...so with that out of the way, I was thinking about different stuff {must - shut - brain - off} and I was wondering - why - 'back in the day' when I was a part-time teller {now they have a fancy name; Member Service Representative...} and making much less money than I do now, were my 'tastes' in things different. Take for example, my make-up. I never really have worn much make-up but back when I was not exactly pulling in the dough, had a small child, paying rent, etc. I was satisfied using Cover Girl face powder. This was in a big ol' tub with enough powder to last at least a year.

Now, I am making a reasonable wage, we are done paying for Kurtis' braces, school books, clothes, etc., don't have the payments we used to, and so I now have a little bit more 'disposable income'. So why is it, I can no longer use the tub 'o' powder from Cover Girl at $8.99? Why is it my face just has to have an "organic" face powder that comes in the itsy bitsiest tube and costs $60 and may last me two months. See the little, lite colored strip in the tube below? Yup - that's it. That's all the powder there is in that tube. But, it does have a pump dispenser {little button on top} that when pumped twice, automatically goes into the attached brush dispensing just the right amount of powder. And it does have a SPF of 30! That's good. Plus it's organic! No chemicals and for me with my allergies - that's a very good thing!

Now, don't get me wrong, I know this face powder would still not be good enough for the Jennifer Aniston's or the Oprah Winfrey's of the world, but that's my point. Your tastes change as your income changes.

When Wayne and I first got married and moved to Swift Current, we were broke. BROKE! He was working for a furniture store - moving/selling furniture and I was a teller. The rent on our apartment was fairly expensive. For entertainment on a Saturday night we would walk to 7-11, buy an extra large slurpee each (99 cents!) and an extra large big bag of sunflower seeds ($2.29), and sit and watch movies all night on our 19", stereo sound TV. {Satellite TV came with the apartment - thank goodness!}

Now on a whim, we will leave our extensive DVD collection and our 46" flat screen HDTV with surround sound, whip to Medicine Hat, go for lunch, do some shopping, have supper, go to a movie, stay over night in a hotel, go for breakfast, do some more shopping, have lunch and then drive home. Again - not too extravagant for Richard Branson - but it's a long way from sunflower seeds, a slurpee and repeats of the movie "Dumb and Dumber" on TBS!!!!

So what was my point in this very long post? No point. Just a sleepy observation from a gal who couldn't shut her brain off long enough to go back to sleep.

And with that, it is 4:27 am and so I shall go make a mug of tea and head to my bath tub...

The Stone Angel

Besides Wayne being born there...(!!), Neepawa Manitoba's claim to fame is The Stone Angel and being the Lily Capital of the World. If you couldn't tell by my previous posts, that is where we were this past weekend!

A Very Talented Young Lady

This is a picture of Wayne's dad, Bill.
The picture on the right was done by our niece Charlotte,
Wayne's sister's girl, who is Bill's oldest grandchild.
She is a very talented young lady as you can see!

Love The Birds

Wayne's home town has a bird sanctuary - rabbits included - that I always like to go visit. Most were resting quietly in the shade since it was such a hot day - but a few birds decided to give us a show.

my love...

Exploring a Neighbour's Garden

I love to explore other people's gardens to get new ideas. My mother-in-law's neighbours are very avid gardeners and I enjoy visiting their garden every year. They always have new and creative ideas!

Carol & Ted - The Final Chapter

Upon coming home to find Ted entertaining Francine, the hot little number from next door, one too many times, being the smart woman she was, Carol decided to end her relationship with Ted before there were children involved.

She flew to Calgary, found a sweet little apartment in the heart of the city and is rumoured to be taking some night classes to upgrade her skills.

Yo' Carol - You go girlfriend!!!!

Ted...you're an idiot...

A Big Order

A gal asked if I could make her a set of "Thank You" cards with a running theme of brown/green/pink/butterflies/flowers - with one card having some purple incorporated into it. I sat down at my craft desk at about noon on Sunday and except for about a 20 minute supper break {Wayne cooked!}, finished 8 hours later at about 8 pm. {Needless to say my back is killing me!} You would think having a 'theme' would be easy. It was not ~ but ~ I think she was pleased with the results ~ so it was worth it. I do not think I will give up my 'day job' though... :-)

One year ago today...

One year ago today I started this blog. Inspired by Kat's Cradle, my original intent was to post pictures and thoughts to share with family and close friends. Before long, I opened it up to the Blogosphere so that anyone could get in. As it says in my heading, I blog for the full enjoyment of entertaining someone or making them smile ~ if even for a moment. 383 posts and it's a year later. If you are reading this and are one my 'faithful' readers, I hope in the last year I have made you laugh, smile or reminisce at least a few times, as that truly has been my intent.

Wayne laughs with me {I'm pretty sure he is laughing with me and not at me...hmmm...} when I get anxious that I can't find anything new or different to take pictures of or write about. "I have blog people to entertain you know!!!" Though I guess he loves me for who I am as he often takes me for drives in anticipation of good photo opportunities! {He was the one driving the truck out to the fox den after all!} Yes...I would suggest that it has become somewhat of an addiction. But blogging has been the creative outlet I have been waiting for, I think for all of my life. To be able to share my love of photography, writing, crafting, animals, nature and laughter with others that have the same passion ~ well ~ what better avenue to do it than blogging...

It is said that 'the eyes are the windows to your soul'. I believe my blog is the window to my soul ~ my pictures, my words, my thoughts ~ I am who I am and I'm OK with that!

Power Crafting

Sometimes I sit in my craft room for hours and hours and only get enough inspiration to make 1 card. Last night I sat in my craft room for 3.5 hours and managed to pump out 9 cards!!

- when it hits you ~ it hits you ~

Here are 7 of them:

And as I have said many times...I really do need to learn how to take pictures of my cards. Anyone know what I am doing wrong? Some card crafting sites have their cards photographed so nicely and you can see all the detail and color...mine...not so much...

Here Comes The Sun

Everybody now - all together - let's sing!!!

Here comes the sun, doot in doo doo
Here comes the sun and I say it's all right
Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, doot in doo doo
Here comes the sun and I say it's all right
Little darling, the smile's returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun and I say it's all right
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun, doot in doo doo
Here comes the sun and I say it's all right
Here comes the sun, doot in doo doo
Here comes the sun and I say it's all right, it's all right

Here Comes The Sun by George Harrison

Thanks George - you said it all for me today!

Where's the sun?

There is rain in the forecast again for today
My garden needs some sun
While the rain still seems to encourage the weeds to grow
{what's up with that?}
The posies don't seem to follow their lead
{why is it only the weeds that continue to grow in the rain?}
It's all so depressing......

Rainy Monday

It's Monday morning
It's the 3rd day of rain
It's cold out
I'm not feeling the 'love' for Monday

But I did some crafting yesterday and will keep the thoughts of this card that I made in my head with the theory being, if you say it long enough, you will start to believe it.....
Hmmm....I'll let you know how that works out....

Little Fox - A Moment of Play

A quick little movie of the wee fox at play on a warm Saskatchewan evening.

Little Fox

I got a tip from a friend {thanks Rob!} about a little fox family not far from town. We drove out there this evening {obviously your directions were fine Rob! Ha ha} and sure enough, one little one 'hammed' it up for us. {I will post a short video tomorrow.} By the slight grin on his {her?} little face, you just know he knows how adorable he is!
