What I Wouldn't Do...

These shells and sand are from my Summer in a Jar post. I got the 'bright' idea to spread them onto my kitchen table for a little photo-op. While taking the pictures was all well and up the sand to put it back into the jar was not! {What a person won't do for a little creativity...!} The picture above is of a beach somewhere {borrowed courtesy of msword clip-art}. I would do anything to be walking along a warm beach somewhere today instead of heading out into the cold Saskatchewan weather. I would even don a bathing suit...hmmm...OK...maybe not a bathing suit but perhaps a pair of shorts and a tank top...ummm...maybe not shorts and a tank top but perhaps a pair of capri's and a light t-shirt. {I haven't worn a bathing suit since 1992 nor shorts since 1994!} So I guess I wouldn't do "anything" to be on a warm beach today...but I would do a lot of other things!!!

April Showers...

I'm trying not to think about what is going on outside at the moment.
"April showers bring may flowers"
Ya right.....good one!!!

How about:
"April snowflakes for warmth my heart aches."
Which has nothing to do with the above picture.
I just didn't want to post ANOTHER picture of it snowing!
It's GREAT to live in Saskatchewan!!!!
{ really is...just not at the moment...!}

Excel Inferno Gum Detoxification - Day 7

So...why was I looking for gum on ebay? Ha, ha! I was actually just googling for a picture of excel inferno gum and it led me to ebay. I can't imagine being so desperate for a 'fix' of gum that I buy it at an inflated cost through ebay...hmmm...or can I..???

I am one week 'clean' of my excel inferno gum chewing/swallowing habit. Though I am still having the salivating effects whenever I think of it and have considered twice whether or not buying some other kind of gum counts, {I'm thinking it would - no?}, I think I am doing OK! The true test will be sitting through a long meeting without it. None scheduled for this week that I know of. wheeewwhh! :-)

Bumblebee Card

I crafted 3 cards this morning.
2 of them are ugly.
I will share only this 1.
I didn't really feel like crafting today,
but as I had 3 days off in a row,
I felt like I should be creative on at least 1 of them.
I can not be crafty 'on demand'!
Crafting requires you to be 'in the mood'.
Like so many other things in life...!

Lack of Stray Cats = More Bunnies

Well... you know... when you are done feeding the stray cats, it is time to start feeding the rabbits! This little bunny ate the few odd veggies I had left out for him from when I cleaned out the fridge the other day. While an A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E bunny at the moment, once he starts nibbling on my flowers, he will once again turn into... well... an adorable bunny that eats my flowers.... !!! :-)

THOUGHT: I always think I would like a new/better camera and then I take a picture like this. The bunny was sitting in the middle of my garden, and I took his picture through the garden window (errrr...dirty garden window I might add) and with my zoom on. Not too bad I don't think.

Tulip Surprise

We've lived in our house for 10 years
And I have never planted a tulip
But yet once in awhile
One seems to pop up out of thin air
I wonder what color it will be
I guess I will have to wait to find out

The First Purples

The first purples of the year
Always so exciting

Thankful For...

What I am thankful for today {besides the always thankful for: family, health, love, friends}:
  1. It's Friday
  2. It's payday
  3. There's no snow on the ground
  4. I have a lunch "date"
  5. Me and my BFF are attending a meeting together this morning {all serious - no laughing I'm sure...!}
  6. It's technically a long weekend for me as I have Monday off
  7. My protege is back on Monday so I can leave her a long 'to do' list for anything I don't feel like...errr...I mean...don't have time to do today... :-)'s going to be a GREAT day!

Spring Buds

of SNOW for
poor little spring buds - all confused
"do I come out or stay in"
"is it warm or is it cold"
"is it spring or is it winter"

Excel Inferno Gum Detoxification - Day 2

36 hours of "Excel Gum free" living...
I was a little worried for myself yesterday, during my coffee break
Walking by the gum stand at Pharmasave
I started salivating and just wanted to at least smell the gum...
But I resisted steps...

Excel Inferno Gum Detoxification - Day 1

Excel Inferno Gum - addiction #2
{addiction #1 - Blistex Silk & Shine Lip Gloss - Jan 24/09 Post}

I consistently eat [yes eat - pop in mouth - chew for 30 seconds - swallow] at least two packages per day but quite often 3 packages per day. It has become an expensive habit [albeit not as expensive as smoking...but still...] at an average of $0.98 per package in bulk - $1.32 per package at a convenience store when desperate. While I've swallowed gum all my life [except for bubble gum - I can't seem to choke it down - weird huh?], my Excel Inferno addiction has been building steadily over the last couple of years. It has been in the last six to eight months that it has become a 3 package per day obsession, eating it like a box of chocolates, one right after another, without consciousness. And I'm not sure why. What will I crave/replace for the gum if I stop??? Hmmmm.....I guess we'll see.

It is an 'old wives tail' that gum sits in your stomach for years, not digesting, until you one day, when much older, go to the doctor complaining of a sore tummy and he/she does an x-ray and finds a humongous lump in your intestine, thinking it's a tumor, performs an operation and upon opening you up, finds a big wad of gum sitting there!!! [Google it - it passes 'naturally' within 24 hours - undigested.]

Think about it - glue does not stick to the inside of a bottle does it????

So, with my last piece of gum swallowed at 6:23 pm last night, 11 hours of 'gum free living' under my belt [at time of post], and with an average savings of $3.00 per day, grand total of $90.00 per month - what shall I do with all that extra money? Any ideas? :-)

Photoshop Weekend

I spent a few [like...quite a few...] hours goofing around
In Photoshop this weekend.
This is a dragonfly magnet that I have on my refrigerator
And behind it a vase of rocks and greenery that has
Another dragonfly attached.
Banjo, always a willing [well...perhaps the word is tolerant] subject.
The green of the couch pillows was making his blue eyes pop!

A Good Day of Crafting

I need to learn how to take pictures of my cards.

New Garden Cat

My new garden kitty
Is waiting patiently
For SPRING to arrive {and stay}
So that a real plant can grace his pot
His tail bobbles in anticipation
{or perhaps it's just the wind making it move}
Snow is showing in the forecast
For later this week
I think you may have to wait a bit longer kitty....

~~~ indeed ~~~
The meaning of life
Summed up in a fridge magnet
Out of My Comfort Zone
I don't like to get out of my 'socializing' comfort zone very often. It's hard for those that know me socially and through work, to believe that I am actually quite shy around people I don't know. People who I work with see me as very talkative { REALLY talkative...}, usually laughing and joking around, always up for a funny story or a little 'conversation side tracking' - but get me in a group of people I am not really familiar with - I clam up! I hardly say 'boo'. Get me in an unfamiliar social setting where there is loud music and a lot of talking - it gets even worse - as I actually can't hear that well out of my right ear and so combine that with my shyness, with the loud music and lots of loud talking...well...let's just say people that don't know me, in that setting, will probably never get to know me as lots of times I am just 'smiling and nodding'...{and hoping what they are saying is requiring a nod!!!}. But I went out last night - until after 10:30 pm (!!!!!) to a fund-raising auction with the love of my life {that would be my husband...not Colin Firth} and his friends, and even though it went waaaay past my bed time, and I was sitting with people I didn't know {except for one gal from work who was technically my 'social life raft'}, and my usual Friday evening routine was turned upside down {hence the picture of the Red-Breasted Nuthatch above}...I survived.
All is right with my world this morning.... :-)
The Birds Are Back
Now that there aren't all the stray kitties hanging around so much {no more feedings - go out and catch some gophers little kitties!!!}, the birds are back at the feeders. This wee bird was catching a bite to eat in-between yesterday's snow and rain.
One Hour Later
Nope...not kidding... depressing...
WHAT THE....!!!
{taken 7 minutes from post time}
Rain Clouds
Tree Reflections
On our way home from Calgary the other day, it rained from about the Saskatchewan border all the way home. I am amazed this picture turned out as we were driving 120 km per hour, there was rain all over the window, and I didn't notice the beautiful reflection until we were almost right beside it and so I only got to take one shot of it! {As I am pretty sure Wayne would NOT humoured me by stopping the car, driving back to this spot, and letting me take a few more pictures!} But I guess one good shot is all it takes. If you click on the picture to make it larger you can see a few blurry circles amongst the trees. Those are raindrops that were on the car window. But I think it just adds to the picture - no? I kind of like it!
The Joy of New Craft Supplies
Oh the joy that new craft supplies bring me - there are no words - I spent a few hours yesterday organizing my new craft supplies - of which I get just as much enjoyment out of as the actual crafting itself - and today I shall head down to my basement {my last day off before heading back to work tomorrow} and create!
Stamps, ribbons, flowers, books, paper, stickers, many little time!
Banjo's New Water Fountain
I just can't go on a trip and not buy my Banjo something! The top left picture is of one of his previous water fountains. We have purchased 5 of them (3 blue, 2 brown) over the last 2 years. The pumps never seem to last very long in them. The newest one only lasted a few months. Just long enough for the warranty to expire! Grrrrr!!! They were cheap - $30 - {is that cheap?? hmmm...}. This new one...well...let's just say it was MORE than $30 and leave it at that shall we? It comes with 5 different 'spouts' and you can set the flow on it. Banjo seems to like it fine except for when he accidentally sticks his ear under one of the flows! Ha, ha...silly Banjo!
Calgary Zoo Tigers
NOTE: You may want to scroll down to near the bottom of my blog and pause the music before clicking on the "play" button - not that there is anything exciting to listen to - it just plays the movie better.
My first attempt at filming and editing video...please be kind to me...I know I'm no Steven Spielberg, but I just started learning! I put some pictures in from Saturday when we went to the Calgary Zoo and from last year and a couple of years ago, just to make my show longer. Included is a short movie and some still shots. Enjoy!
Quick Trip to Calgary
We took off for a quick trip to Calgary on Thursday {April 9/09}. First thing - got to get the kitty all set up with both his timed dishes!
Errrr...Banjo...that has to last you 3 days you know! Good thing the rest of the 'holes' are timed to open up every 6 hours or he would have it all eaten before we even got out the door!
Bye Banjo - see you in a few days!
We took Kurtis' girlfriend along for company for him...don't they look like they are enjoying each other's company?? Both their noses stuck into their game systems??!!? Kids....!!
First stop - Golf Town - Wayne was the happiest man alive looking for new golf clubs over the next 3 days. He found some - now he's broke! Good thing he has a membership to the golf course. But since he never comments about my crafting supply buying fetish, I don't say too much about his golfing expenses! It keeps him out of trouble I guess.
Waiting for supper!
Waiting for supper too!
Wayne says, "Why are you taking pictures of birds at the zoo that you can see in the fields of Saskatchewan?" My reply, "Because they are standing right beside me posing!" I took lots of pictures but will try to share only those that aren't similar to the ones I took last September when we were at the Zoo.
Hasn't the baby grown since last September?
{see Calgary Zoo 2008 post)
Shout it out Monkey!
Pretty Bird!
I think in all the years we have gone to the zoo, this is the first time the Hippos have been out of the water! They are enormous!!!
These noisy birds were showing off on top of a gazebo!
And new to the Calgary Zoo this year {just brought in special very recently} were two adorable Koalas! CUTE!
OMG - don't you just want to hug him? Or her? Not sure which!
And that was our quick trip to Calgary. We left at 7 am on Thursday and got home at 7 am on Saturday. Besides the zoo we simply shopped, shopped and shopped some more! Love it! I will share with you a few items I purchased over the next few days {including an extravagant water fountain for my kitty kat cat!}.
Easter Morning
You know the song - sing it in your head:
Here comes Peter Cottontail
Hopping down the bunny trail
Hippity hoppity Easter's on its way
Did you sing it in your head? Now it will be stuck in there all day!!!
Easter is actually already here
And as always
Easter Bunny left 'the goods'
In the basket he has been leaving it in
Since Kurtis was born
Happy Easter to everyone!
You still have that song in your head don't you...!!! :-)
Birds of a Feather
You know I like birds...I really really do...
But perhaps not so much, so early in the morning
as they sit outside your hotel room window
'cooing' at each other...
An Easter Memory
Easter 1992 - Kurtis is almost 1 1/2 years old in this picture. He was always shy with the big stuffed animals that walked around in stores, malls or parades and the Easter bunny was no exception. He didn't take his eyes off me in this picture and was just on the verge of tears at all times. Michele (the 'cart rider' below) happened to be there and gave him a chocolate egg (do you remember that Michele?) to help settle him down but he still kept a watchful, tear glistened eye on me to make sure that I didn't leave him with this strange fluffy creature. have him this little again...if for only one day.
