Joyful News

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
It is with great joy that I announce the fact that I put up my first Christmas decoration last night! 3 more sleeps and all the Halloween decorations in the stores will be put into the 'sale' pile or stored away for another year. Out will come the beautiful, joyous, shiny, twinkly, inspiring Christmas decorations. Although there is a scattering of some here and there (Canadian Tire has lots out actually...), you just can't have too many decoration options. I am looking for a new accent color to go with my continuing theme of silver, white and clear. For the last few years it has been blue. I am looking to change it to green or red. I have not found the perfect accent balls yet. My quest shall continue!

Morning Routine

Though I have a few more pictures to share of Vancouver, I felt I have neglected my most favorite subject! My Banjo! My morning routine when I first get up (4:30 am today), is to go into the computer room and turn the computer on. Next, I go into the kitchen and make myself a big mug of tea. I then go back to the computer room to spend a few quiet hours blogging, goofing around in Photoshop, e-mailing, or catching up on my celebrity gossip via the Internet. (OK, so I have one vice...!) Curled up behind me on his pillow is my wee little Banjo! If I stray from the computer room - he follows me. ie: to the bathroom - no privacy with little kids and pets around! Then back on his pillow he goes when I return. Sweet little Banjo!

Vancouver Buildings

There were some really amazing buildings where we were staying.
I love the ones with the vines and the moss.
Lots of character...lots of $$$ to rent/buy as well I would imagine!

Trees in Vancouver

I think this is my favorite tree.

It's fascinating how the roots of another tree wrap around.

Kind of a freaky tree!

We thought this one looked like a dinosaur or something.

Beautiful!

Lots of moss growing over everything, including sidewalks and sides of buildings.

More Sites From Vancouver

Pervy bird - peeking in on a hotel guest!

Some very big boats!

Some little teeny boats!

YUMMY!

Funny car!

Very pretty water fall!

Saskatchewan Girls Tour The Big City

~~~
Our trip to Vancouver - first mission - conquer the plane ride!
~~~

~~~
Brigitte and her sister Annette get an idea to buy me a book.
"I Want To Be A Pilot"
I had to read it out loud to Brigitte before we went into the airport. Bert wanted to go visit his aunt who lived very far away and he wanted to travel by bus even though it would take a really long time. Ernie talked Bert into flying, even though Bert is afraid to fly. I had to read the book out loud and replace "Ernie" and "Bert's" name with "Catherine" and "Brigitte".
Too funny!
~~~
~~~
Do some coloring...get your mind off flying.
An Angel Kitten coloring book and new crayons.
How enjoyable!
~~~
~~~
If you are a good girl Catherine and don't cry, you will get some candy.
~~~
~~~
"What the hell am I going to do with this girl?"
~~~
~~~
OK...read the book again...out loud.
"Brigitte (Ernie) told Catherine (Bert) that flying was fun.
It's just like riding a bus."
You are sooo full of sh** Ernie...
~~~
~~~
Do a little coloring...relax...get your mind off the flight.
Hey...that looks like Banjo!
~~~
~~~
You know the German girls like their beer!
~~~
~~~
A refreshing Long Island Iced Tea. Yummy!
~~~
~~~
Friends don't let Friends drink alone.
That's our motto.
~~~
~~~
Our first evening. The Ocean was less then a five minute walk.
~~~
~~~
I have to admit, Vancouver is beautiful!
And you are beautiful too Brigitte!
~~~
~~~
We took a boat ride! Ok...not really.
That's just Brigitte pretending. Like I would get into a boat!
~~~
~~~
You Go Girl!
Posing seems to bring out the 'fashion model' in Brigitte.
~~~
~~~
A nice young man stopped to take our pictures!
Truthfully...I kept thinking he was going to take off with my new camera.
But he didn't!
~~~
~~~
What a beautiful smoking area at the hotel!
It just made smoking all that more enjoyable for Brigitte.
~~~
~~~
Have you been waiting long?
~~~
~~~
A little photoshop here...can you tell? Not too bad I think.
There's lots of big old trees with personality in Stanley Park.
~~~
~~~
Self portrait...my what rosy cheeks I have.
~~~
~~~
We had to be quick...the tide was coming in fast.
~~~
~~~
Picking sea shells.
~~~
~~~
Let's write our names.
~~~
~~~
Pressure to spell correctly!
~~~
~~~
I wonder how long our names lasted there?
~~~
~~~
Brigitte couldn't believe how good her lungs felt after a big long walk and breathing in all that fresh air. She felt like she could smoke all day!
~~~
~~~
OK Brigitte...I will take your picture of you with your head sticking through this picture board and then you can take my picture...(yeah right...)! Always a good sport my friend Brigitte.
~~~
~~~
Not really sure what this picture is about. Just a nice tree I guess.
~~~
~~~
Why can't we see the Pub & Grill?
The map says it's only this far away from where we are standing!
Hmmm...
~~~
~~~
After over 3 hours of walking through Stanley Park (2 more hours in Gas Town to follow) we decided these two gals weren't as energetic as first set out at 9 am that morning. We took a quick break for a coffee and hot chocolate.
~~~
~~~
"Do I have something on my face?"
~~~
~~~
Hey Brigitte...does this guy bring you back to your sweet dreams of "Hoss" from Bonanza?
~~~
~~~
Man...I must have had too much to drink. When the hell did Brigitte turn into a black woman and lose 6 inches from her height?
~~~
~~~
Oh that Brigitte...she makes friends during her smoke breaks no matter where she goes.
~~~
~~~
A quick walk at lunch time to visit the ocean once more before we leave.
~~~
~~~
Nearing the end of the trip.
Catching a shut eye at the Vancouver airport. 3 1/2 hours on the plane,
2 1/2 hour drive and we will be home in our own beds!
Vancouver was a lovely place to visit but you couldn't pay either of us to live there.
We decided that life really does make sense in Swift Current!
