It's All Over

Grad has come and gone. It was a great evening and the "Dry Grad" party was excellent. We didn't get home until 7 am Thursday morning! I haven't pulled an all nighter since I graduated. Needless to say - I pretty much slept most of the day yesterday! The kids had a blast. So did the parents really. So many different games, food, entertainment and prizes. The evening actually went pretty quick.

Graduation Day!

An Agreeable Subject

Notice the "Blondy Ooh La La" painted on the bridge. Too cute! Kelsey, her mom and dad and her brother. I love the black and whites around the dirty old bridge!

Wow - how much easier is it taking pictures of someone that WANTS their pictures taken. Kelsey - I work with her mom and she is in the same graduation class as Kurtis. We had a little rain shower and then the sun came out. It was a beautiful evening. Here are a few samples!

Count Down Until Graduation

Click him on - make him bigger! He will become larger than life! My boy!

I like this one!

He was so worried someone was going to see him "posing" in front of the schools!

Kurtis gave me 20 minutes to take pictures of him in his "Cap & Gown". This is the best I could do under such a short time span! I told him he has to give me a full 1/2 hour on Wednesday when he is in his tux!

Things From My Kitchen

Is it too sad when no one in your family will pose for you and so you have to take pictures of inanimate objects just to try and be creative? Even Banjo is starting to run and hide when I take out my camera! I am excited to take pictures tomorrow night for my friend's daughter. Someone who will pose for me!

The Real Graduate

OK, so I know down below in my original post about Kurtis I wished him to keep his sense of humour, but I didn't really mean when I was trying to take pictures. Eyes crossed, goofy grin, something hiding his face. But, I guess this is my boy, and that is why I love him. He is who he is. I did manage to get a couple of good pictures, but I will save those for later.

A Segment of Life Complete

It is Kurtis' last day of school today. I can not believe it. It was over in a blink of an eye. There is so many mixed emotions. I can't remember my last day of school really. I can't remember what I was feeling that day. I imagine he won't remember how he is feeling today many years from now either. He has to get up early today (no spare 1st period for him today) as it is a 'short' day today. He will be done by 2 pm this afternoon. I can not believe it - but I have to. Oh how will I cut those "apron strings"!

Kitty is Starving

Waiting for the timed dish to open is just too much for Banjo some days. He can smell it through the cracks, he can chew it with all his might, but that dish will not open any quicker. Some days he just sits and waits.........poor kitty..........!

Waiting For The Rain To Stop

I count the days until the rain stops so that I may go out and enjoy my garden!
Thus ends another day - day number 11 - of 11 days in a row with rain........sigh...

Happiness is.....

Coming home to a friendly face greeting you at the window after a very hard day at work!!! (NOTE: Please disregard the dirty window - it's mostly 'kitty boogies' at that level!)

Sample Crafts

The Cherished Home Made Christmas Bag!

I love making cards. But I have to be in the right mood. Sometimes I get people asking me to make special cards for them. "Could you make me a birthday card for a little girl who is turning 5?" That's harder. Cause sometimes I am in an "earth tones" mood which is maybe not suitable for a little girl's birthday card. I get in runs of colors and card types. Last year I did a "Garden Series" where I made cards out of pictures I took of my garden. Flowers, Lady Bugs, etc. I love them.

In the bottom right pictures is a Christmas ball I have made for the last couple of years. I started by making one for a friend and before you knew it, I had 20 other co-workers wanting one. I made 25 of them over two weeks and by the time I was done, my fingers were burnt raw from my glue gun and I thought I would puke if I ever had to make any again. I sold the other 5 within one hour. I didn't really make too much on these balls. Perhaps 50 cents an hour!

I made a Christmas gift bag for a friend at work last year. I thought she was "bag worthy" but she set it under her Christmas tree and her dog chewed it to bits! (You know who you are funny girl!!!) So here is a picture so you can remember what it looked like! :-) Oh yeah, did I forget to mention I have a gift bag fetish? I buy pretty gift bags and then have a very hard time giving them away! It's a sickness I know.

Crafting - It's My Crack Cocaine!

I got into making home-made cards about 8 years ago when I was standing in the middle of Pharmasave with almost $25 worth of Mother's Day cards in my hand (mom, mother-in-law, Nana, Gramma.....). I started with a very small card crafting supply and I now have a craft room that would make Martha Stewart green with envy! Well...maybe not Martha, but some other really crafty person who has no where to do her crafting! It's now almost an addiction. I have bought many $$$ worth of supplies that I have never used. Crafting tools that I have only used once. Oh but the joy I receive spending hours organizing and arranging my stuff! I figure that it is my smoking, my drinking and my crack cocaine all rolled up in one. It relaxes me, soothes me, makes me happy on a very dreary day. Give me a rainy Sunday afternoon, "The Sound of Music" in the DVD, sitting at my craft table with beads, paper, glue and glitter all around me and you will see a woman in euphoria.

Some of My Favorite Quotes

You have to stay in shape. My grandmother, she started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She's 97 today and now we don't know where the hell she is. ~ Ellen DeGeneres

I don't understand the sizes anymore. There's a size zero, which I didn't even know that they had. It must stand for: "Ohhh my God, you're thin. ~ Ellen Degeneres

Do not resent growing old. Many are denied the privilege. ~ Unknown

Middle age is when you still believe you'll feel better in the morning. ~ Bob Hope

My Boy

This is my boy, Kurtis. I hope he just keeps on with his humour. It will get him far. I hope he remembers to not take life too seriously as he goes out into this crazy world. I think parents just have to try their best with their kids and then let them spread their own wings to see how far they can go. I believe there will always be things you forgot to teach them that they will have to figure out on their own. He has been a very easy kid to love. Even during his teenage mood swings, I knew that if I could get him laughing, everything would be OK. He is a fantastic kid. I wish him all the best that life has to offer, and if he is so lucky to find someone that loves him as much as his dad and I love each other, he truly will be a lucky young man.

My Kitten Kat Cat

Banjo is 7 years old and he is a very special part of this family. Though he came to us a simple barn cat, he is King in this house hold. He was 18 lbs at 1 years old. And even though he has been eating only about 3/4's cup diet cat food a day ever since, he's topped out at 30 lbs! I have had him to the vet and am told that even though he is over weight, he is still very healthy. He had a bad fall a couple of weeks ago (it's a lie that cats always land on their feet) and he has gone down to 27 lbs. We are trying to keep it off him! He still has a bad limp but hopefully with time, he will be back to normal. I love him lots!
